“This place was truly world class. It combined a very solid tap list with an extensive bottle list. The staff was very knowledgable about beer and were willing to talk about it until we left the bar at closing. The prices were generally reasonable. The ambiance was fairly minimalist, but nice. Large patio was available for the smokers (unfortunately some of the smoke would seep into the inside). I think I ticked 20 beers in one night here. Would love to return.“

“Visited here on a sunny day in spring. Schneeeule and guest beer on tap, and a few fridges with a broader selection, mostly Schneeeule. Crisps and peanuts as snacks. Friendly and English speaking service, brewer was also there. Seating is comfy, not too crowded, lovely and local interior. Felt very relaxed, enjoyed it very much.“

“Comfy bar in Wedding with a great selection of fresh and vintage Schneeeule bottles and some on tap. In addition a few other Berlin guestbeers and a selection of franconian beers. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and super friendly service.“

“Easy to find, as its just outside the Ostkreuz Bahnhof. Rather big place, some seating outside fading the street, space inside. 15 beers on tap, some cans and bottles aswell. Good varity among styles, fair quality. Full and somewhat noisy at our visit around 18:00 on a thursday, effiecient service and fair prices. Food, burgers, wings etc available, but we didnt try any.“

“U8 to Boddinstrasse, and you're almost there (the north exit might be better, the elevator is best). Located unlikely among some modernish buildings, and still with a fairly sizeable patio, Muted Horn opens to a bigger, slightly dimly lit space. One glance at the tap list and... ho lee... what a mix of local, foreign and rare/hype stuff on tap! 22 taps I guess. A random Superstition mead, a couple of Cantillons, a Rare Barrel, a Ca del Brado IGA, a bunch of Vinohradský and Sibeeria beers, Fuerst Wiacek, the Mönchsambacher Lagerbier as the base lager, some Track, Fürst Wiacek... all well described in the menu too! And then you look at the veritable book that is the bottle list, and maaan... can't remember when I've seen a more impressive list. The staff was very good, one more talkative than the other, both showing beer knowledge, very extensive most likely from what I could glean... A true gem of a place, and though the 22 taps did have some less thrilling beers, it very much made up with the rest. A must visit by absolutely all means!“

“Take the U8 to Schönleinstraße, go down south on Kottbusser Damm before turning left into Pflügerstrasse, following it till you hit it. Definitely more of a bar than a beer store, though it works as both with a discounts on beers to go. Smallish, simple, pleasant place, pale browns and whites, slightly darker back room lit by candles. The soft atmospheric electro-pop played made sense in the setting - the lady behind the bar appears to be a fan of Izzy Perri, as songs were played more than once. Excellent English spoken, she seems to know beer and was friendly enough, props! Very well selected buncha taps - the base lager was from Braumanufaktur Potsdam, much better than when I visited the brewpub in the woods 14 years ago. Found a Belgian Lichtenhainer, an excellent Schwarzbier from Buddelship, and Zehendner Mönchambacher Weihnachtsbock (called Winterbock here for whatever reason) was in fantastic shape, enjoyed it very much. I seem to remember De La Senne Taras Boulba on tap - which I sadly didn't have the time for, and the selection in bottles was again a very well selected mix of German and foreign craft, including some rarities. Got a German-brewed "English Mild" to go. All in all, really enjoyed the place, will hopefully return with friends next time.“

“Welp, another chain Getränkemarkt, located close to some craft breweries (only reason to visit it is on your way to/from them). 194 to Zur Alten Börse gets you there, though you'll more likely be taking the S5, S7, S75 to Friedrichsfelde Ost if you're visiting the area, or driving. Think I noted just one guy handling the store, did his job well, friendly, English likely spoken. A ton of mid- and macro stuff around, plenty of ticks, some widely distributed craft craft. Found a few ticks, proved to be in good shape for a good price. So yeah, likely okay to get a crate or two of ticks if you're in that type of tick hunting. Nothing else to say.“

“Visited on recommendation. A very old-school pub, there for 99 years! A smokey, busy place, barely found a chair at the bar. Would be a 5/5 atmosphere if not for the smoke. Quick service, doing their job well. Very eclectic, "different" selection of beers - their house beer brewed at Frankfurter is exactly what you get for for 3.20€/0.5l in Berlin nowadays, clean and fresh, cheap but chuggable. They have the Weihenstephaner wheat on tap, a bock from Flessa Bräu, 3 beers from Hops & Barley, beers from Nikl-Bräu, Eschenbräu and actually Kundmüller from Franconia! A great place to visit I reckon with friends, preferably earlier in the day if you're sensitive to smoke.“

Salami Social Club (Restaurant)
FRANKFURTER ALLEE 43
“Visited with Timo. Small pizza place with 8 taps and a tiny patio, friendly, very busy service. Sadly, skipped the pizzas, but they looked good (and pricey for my standards, likely not for Berlin standards). They have a couple of beers of their own, the basil sour brewed at Strassenbrau being a pretty nice highlight - really goes well with the theme. Found 2-3 ticks, not too pricey. A great place to have nearby, I'll likely revisit for food next time I'm in the area.“

72 /100 FRANKFURTER TOR 7
“Visited with TImo. Located in this monumental (I guess) Stalin-era building at the Frankfurter Tor, just take the U5 there, and you'll probably see it. A corner, very high-ceilinged 2-floor location, that used to host a McDonald's apparently before. Absolutely packed on a Tuesday night, people mostly eating and the aromas being dominated by that. Very mixed crowd, not your regular craft beer lot. Huge tap list, mainly generic Brewdog stuff, but also some guest taps. Higher prices (though yeah, I can see them being cheaper than at Mitte). Dunno. Staff did their job efficiently. Found a couple of ticks, though there weren't too many. Dunno, not my type of place, but could be given a shot combined with other places. Probably a good place to take your non-beergeek friends and still have a wide selection, would need to try the food next time.“

Protokoll (Bar)
BOXHAGENER STR. 110
“Visited with Timo. Tram 21 (Niederbarnimstr.) will take you closest, and Frankfurter Str. U-Bahn station (U5) is nearby - go down Bundesstrasse (past Brewdog for example, a good venue to combine this with), and turn left into Boxhagener Str., going till you hit it. Smaller shabby-chic-driven bar, kinda small for the 24 taps it boasts, along the bottle selection. Some of those are from their own brewing project, which are so-so, some varied, very good even German and foreign stuff is on tap - including a ton of The Garden beers when we visited. The service is friendly and knows their beers, yay! Busy place, mixed crowd. All in all, another great place in the area!“

64 /100 REVALER STR. 99
“Walking distance from the Warschauer Str. S-Bahn and U-Bahn station - go up and right along Revaler str. untill you see it to your right - or go through the Urban Spree/RAW-Gelände area till you hit it. Hahaaah, I'd visited Schalander when it had pretty much just opened at its first location, and now got to revisit it 14 years later at its new, better location... and ran into the exact same lineup of beers. Anyway, it's a fairly big location, bit on the shabbier side of shabby chic inside, with a decent sandy patio, probably the biggest one in the area - likely great in the summer. Fits right into the hipsterish-punky-fancy "revamped and fancified rrun down" former industrial area where it's at. Older crowd inside (maybe 3-4 thereof), air dominated by the Flammküchen aromas. Quick service, but the lady didn't seem to like the dog being anywhere else other in my friend's lap, even though I didn't note anybody complaining and he was very silent/tiny. Got the Märzen - and I'd had the very first batch of it 14 years ago) - and it was pretty great! The Pils was also clean. Bit pricey considering the styles, but not above average, en par with fancier places around. All in all, when you're in the area - why not? You might run into some good lagers, at least in the winter I guess....“

“Get out of the north(west) main exit out of Ostkreuz station, and you're pretty much there, really close to Strassenbräu, with which it shares the opening date, only a few years apart, hah. Nice, modern taproom, pretty empty when I entered the place around lunchtime (they appear to have various food offers depending on the time, so check those out if you're planning to eat - mainly burgers, tacos and suchlike). The largely friendly, pro, hipsterish staff had a pretty good taste in late 90's-00's music - and props to the green-haired gentleman for immediately bringing a water bowl for my friend's dog when they entered. At least one of the guys showed that he knows beer talking to someone nearby. Sizeable tap list, not cheap necessarily, but hey, you know where you're at. Smaller pours than noted seem to be available, which I realized a bit too late. Anyway... their helles with cryo hops was quite tasty, if simplistic on the malt side, but the pils and export on tap were messy and sub par. A fresh new NEIPA smelled lovely, but was maybe a bit too dry for the style, and they had a very tasty collab banana pastry stout with Moersloutel and Ritual Lab or someone. Takeaway cans are very decently priced and there are some fancy stouts and suchlike as well in bottles for 10+/20+€, but could be worth it. All in all, by all means visit and combine with Strassenbräu.“

70 /100 ZUR ALTEN BÖRSE 72-74, MARZAHN
“Probably best to reach by car, though S5, S7 and S75 to Friedrichsfelde Ost, and then a 10+ minute walk, or a long slow 194 ride to Kröver Strasse, and then left and up the eponymous street until you hit the Zur Alten Börse area, and the brewery will be just net to you. It's classic a production brewery all in all, not big, but very well run. No sales there as far as I know, but tours are possible, if arranged in advance. It's a very well-run brewery, and the people there will take very good care of you. Tried some beers from tank, including an excellent take on Sticke and a new twist on their Hommelsap. Basically a generic score, as my experience there was 10/10, but I didn't get the typical tour.“

“A couple of minute's walk from the Ostkreuz station, so extremely easy to reach. Formerly a brewpub, it was, after the brewery was moved a bit further east to bigger premises, turned into a great little modern taproom. Can't give the Service less than 10/10, not just because of Timo's hospitality, but because Fabi & others were champs! 14 taps, yeah, some of the beers on the slightly expensive side, but tasters are available. They are tweaking their stuff all the time, and some of the stuff was very good, some needed more work. Cans available as well, different selection than the taps. Got a chance to try some caramel-topped cheesecake, which was excellent. All in all, very much a should-visit if in the area - and easy combine with other relevant places.“

“Large place near the metro. There is a large beer garden. They have an indoor area and kitchen which was full on a late Sunday night. Which was disappointing but they do have different food areas by the beer garden. I didn’t check out the “Grill” but the other place has chicken sandwiches, mac and cheese, salad. It was fine but their special kitchen menu would probably be a lot better. There were multiple beer menus outside which seemed to conflict and then when you went up to the counter to order, different still! Nonetheless it seems they offer their regulars plus some seasonals and guest taps. The bathroom situation was by far the worst I’ve ever encountered at a beer establishment as a paying guest. They had an outdoor trailer. There was trash in the stalls and it was completely out of toilet paper and towels. And one stall had a broken toilet seat. It was really appalling. That sort of put a damper on my stay, plus some of the other smaller mishaps. The beer was fine but overall wasn’t a great experience.“

“Brewery in Wedding, in a residential area. There is a large outdoor patio with tables and covered with an umbrella. Also plenty of large indoor tables. They had 5 taps, mostly German styles (pils, dunkel, Helles, amber, west coast ipa). Chill place. They have a couple of snacks (flammkuchen, pretzel, obazda) but not a large food menu. Beer was good for the style.“

“Interesting brewery. Kind of in a weird place, behind a cluster of buildings. They have outdoor and indoor seats. We were there during an event and could only sit inside. Beer list is pretty short, around 5 taps. Ok beer, pretty basic styles. They make a few bottled beers but you can’t consume them on the premises. Vibe was a bit odd, but maybe that was just because of the event (some sort of erotic dancing/singing it seemed). Not terribly impressed by the beer.“

“Beer bar near Tempelhof. This is rated as the top beer bar in Berlin and I can see why. The draft list is solid with 22 taps. Varied styles with beers from Germany, UK, Czech Republic, and some others. But don’t even get me started on the bottle list! It’s multiple pages long and the lambic section is like 4 pages! You can get beers here you can’t get anywhere else! It was so hard to just pick one bottle to get. I could imagine myself just coming here week after week to try all these crazy lambics. Anyway, apart from that it is a chill place. Small bar, plenty of tables, some outside tables. No food (crisps available). You gotta go here!“

“Kind of an odd bar in Berlin. Just off Oranienburgerstrasse. It’s an unassuming place, dimly lit, small. We walked by it, no signs or anything. It is an intimate venue with a square bar and a large couch to split between a few parties, a few outside tables. Music, no TVs. They have a max of 9 taps (a little less when we were there) plus a short bottle list (which mainly seems to be bottles from a French brewery L’Instant). Of the taps, almost all were IPAs. They had 1 offering from the Unverhopft Brewery but others were Berlin or German beers mostly. No food. Beer was good and it was a nice place to spend some time in the area.“

“(Visited April 2023) Nice and friendly beer hall style restaurant close to U-banh Mortizplatz, and a five minute walk from Biererei. Old school restaurant with interior mainly in brown wood. The bar is just to the left of the entrance, then there are more rooms behind. Seven or eight beers on tap, half of the from Barre. Excellent German style food in rich portions. Swift and friendly service. Bring cash, no cards. Good place to get some solid German food when in Kreuzberg. Well worth a visit.“

“Visited later in the evening and stayed till closing time. Smoking bar, cash only, bright green outside, bright red inside & dimmed lightning. Occasionally 1 euro sub charge for DJ but no DJ when we were there. Indifferent staff & no glasses or anything get picked up ever. Place definitely goes for an attitude & clientele. One guy started doing pushups next to our table at some point. Pilsner Urquell Tankbier which was bit too authentic for me (mild diacetyl) but that is how the Czech roll so perfect in a way. Jever & Spaten available as well in surprisingly good condition. For all your dive-esque pilsner boosting activities.“

“Previously Stone Taproom & now owned by Protokoll of which I wasn’t aware, their second bar basically. Close to 25 taps raging from Berliner Berg to classic, some but not everything is Protokoll (minority even), Rockmill, BRLO, Soma. Way more foreign beers than usual but nothing that is really wild or crazy, some meh choices like Baxbier. All kinds of price points & sizes, not all make difference like some beers will be 100-200-300 ml. options but 100 ml. will be 6 euro & 200 ml. 6.50 euro etc. Schlenkerla Rotbier which I had should have been better condition, had it elsewhere on tap & bottled and this was not on point. Friendly service. Did have an amazing Schneeeule here.“

“Open layout, slightly deserted when visited, small space outside, downstairs with shuffleboards. Generic rock, Scandinavian hipster. Classic BRLO offerings on tap, one or two specials, nice surprise from a brewery I hadn’t seen elsewhere. Okay prices. Seems to lack some clear direction or character. Close to U-Bahn etc. Upside is that it opens very early & closes late.“

“Large & popular bar with seating outside, lots of people from public transport stopping by for a brief beer, kids from the playground near, some funny pictures hung up. 15 taps with Vagabund Augustiner, BRLO, BrewDog and the likes and house pils in 300 & 500 ml. Music is some kind of greatest hits mix thing like Creep, Police and stuff like that, bit much. Fair place, vegan pizza & nachos available but not tried. Comfy couches to be found. Could be bit more exciting for beer but I think that is just not the crowd so fair enough, still rather enjoyed my stay.“

“Liked it more than the Mitte location. Bit more fair prices & more larger pours available. Guests weren’t too wild but had the Berlin Elvis Juice & a fruited vodka which was nice. Interior is BrewDog, had a more relaxing time here than usual. Best thing about this is the Star Trek themed pinball machine upstairs near the toilets, got here hour before closing & couldn’t resist not playing it. I usually loose quickly at pinball but that one was very general & almost needed to be kicked out, great value for money.“

“Smoking bar, modern mainstream metal when I visited sadly not going harder or more recognizable than Slipknot for me. I am more of an extreme metal kind of person so not for me, two tv screens playing video clips. The place has a fun reputation and pool table. The best thing about it is the decoration which are everywhere and baffling, crude & amazing. Mostly macro taps but there is Maisel, Urquell & occasional house beer of unknown to me origins. It has a reputation & many fans.“

“Large setup with large outside area having an outside taps but less taps & selection than inside, more their core range. Also food outside, restaurant area outside, bit posh, ice cream place, place for dogs etc. Pleasant sitting outside, if you go a bit too much to one side, music from the market below tracks clashes awkwardly with outside music. Whole setup is made from containers. Inside has 20ish taps with low number of guests and some less common beers from BRLO. Okay prices but could be touch lower given this is their brewery. “Bottle shop with craft beer focus with fridges & non-chilled selection. Standard Belgians, Sierra Nevada, Brewski, Omnipollo, hipster milkshake craft, lager. Some obvious beers, some interesting finds. Sidenote not all beers have a price next to them, one of them turned out to be prohibitively price, nearly 10 euro for a DE haze. “Primarily a cocktail bar but also an Untappd verified place with 6 taps & one cask. Interior was interesting for sure with heavy glitter bomb jellyfish theme. They also do comedy shows etc. Place was absolutely booming, ordering at bar was a chaos mainly due to number of people & intricate cocktails. Drinks are Ukrainian themed, Ukrainian staff, Ukranian theme makes drinks bit confusing in description sometimes, like I have no idea at what hard liquor Vyshyvanka hints at. Had a long drink which was okay, mexikaner was heavy on umami, spices, almost soup-like but interesting & nice. Taps are Urquell, lots of Two Chefs (which loads of bars get due to cheep price but are largely meh), Fuerst Wiacek including a cask stout which was in manageable shape. Interesting spot.“

“Modern looking bar with 20 taps, snack with first beer & friendly service. Tap list was touch heavy on Fuerst Wiacek but might have been due to a recent tap takeover maybe? Otherwise varied and great tap list going from Keesmann to Tilquin. Schenkerla Rotbier was in amazing condition as were all the other beers. Vast selection and variety. The said beer cellar is an area behind the bar visible through glass. Some striking bottles to be seen like older 3 Fonteinen & Firestone Walker. Massively impressive list. “Large outside patio which is where most people were sitting. Spacious inside as well, bit warm inside but we took place on the couch & near the fan, very comfy. Really good tap list with some crazy surprises like Bottle Logic & Rare Barrel on tap. Prizes are fair for what you get. Bottle list is even more insane, this puts almost every BE lambiek bar to shame for one, found a Bellwoods Geuze tick, the newest Eylenbosch releases etc. at lower prices than you would pay in a BE bar, splurged on Eylenbosch Biet. Very friendly service on top as well, laid back still. Heard some locals say it isn’t optimal for regular session which is possible but visiting we stayed here by far the longest of any bar. “It has that Mikkeller Bar look for sure, close to the Copenhagen ones for sure. Tap selection is heavy on Mikkeller, few Baghaven, Warpigs,… Low on much else, few DE lager offerings. Limited bottle & can selection. Lots of classics and for this being Berling some 500 ml. pours were quite reasonable, 9ish euro for 500 ml. Warpigs Pale & Mikkeller Green Gold.
