“Cool little place in old Ipoh with great service, enthusiastic about their beers. Decor is very Straits Chinese, with lots of HK memorabilia, old tvs and radios, bamboo screens, very cool. They have 2 beers of their own (made in KL) as well as locally produced todi (coconut based) and tuak (made with rice). Good selection if imports from Asia, some American and European offerings. Price is reflective of high taxes imposed but still , i would not be surprised paying 58 ringitts (less than 17$CA) for a bottle of Pohjala Imperial stout in Canada. They do serve a few dim sums (siu mai, friend wontons, prawn rolls) for 10R a pop. No wifi.“

“A modern looking pub on two floors that claims to be a bistro, but I didn’t see a menu, nor was anyone else eating. No taps here but they do have around 75 cans and bottles including some solid imports. Prices for the local beers were reasonable but on the higher side for some of the imports compared to KL. It’s a self service place where you take your beer from the fridge and pay for it at their awesome carved wooden bar. Staff didn’t seem to be beer oriented and they can do better than to give you a Connors Stout glass when I’ve just ordered an expensive import beer. No WiFi. Nicely air conditioned in fan mode. Nice patio out front. Nice enough and I will return.“

“The best beer bar by far in Ipoh at the time of writing. They have six taps, mainly from Modern Madness and some interesting local concoctions including Todi! The fridges have around 25 quality beers from mainly Europe and Asia. Lots of wood and pretty lights plus a beautiful tiled floor. Who knows what this place was originally. Working WiFi and very friendly and helpful staff. No food and credit cards are not accepted. They only take Touch & Go, Duitnow and good old cash. Close to Concubine Lane where every tourist will surely head to.“

“It’s about 20 mins walk from the main train station on the main drag. Very close to most of the hotels. Didn’t see a bar area. prices were 11 to 15 or so Ringit for bottled beers from Europe. There were some Fullers (UK), Flensburger (Germany) and a couple of Belgian beers like Grimbergen. Friendly helpful staff.“

“Cozy and relaxed bar which has a fridge dedicated to a variety of different beers, and not a Tiger in sight. Cool place, though it was dead quiet on a Friday evening. Expect to pay around 20-30 MYR for the beers.“

“Cool place in a cool town. Tiny, cozy, dark, conducive to conversation, show variety of stuff on the TV like nature shows, play variety of music, and has decent variety of beer for MY. There are only 5 tables plus a small bar. Every table was full. Four including ours was couples drinking together, and one was a group of females sharing some beers and they were there with their kids, who were so well behaved we didn’t even realize they were there. So this whole chilled out vibe is very unusual for MY and I really appreciated being in a "normal" or European-style bar--but with local ppl. So nice not to have a pissup testosterone bar or one that plays hideous music too loud.“

“Liquor store and bar, side-by-side. The bar is a real bar and not for tourists either, a rarity in Malaysia. They carry, along with having a walk-in wine cooler, around twenty different beers. So a handful of Germans, La Trappe stuff, Grolsch Hefeweizen. Nothing too mind-bending but it might be the only decent place to drink in Ipoh.“
