“Stayed here for two nights in June 23 while hiking stretches of the 13-Brauereien-Weg. Pleasant rooms. Relatively economical. We ate at the restaurant one night. Food was good, better than the beer, which I would describe as mediocre for the area. Good stay overall though.“

“Visited in June '23. Friday morning, cycling around Bamberg, first stop on a glorious sunny day. It's not often that I start drinking at 10:30, but when in Rome.. Sat outside on their lovely, but still empty, patio, had their excellent Görchla and good new Weizen. Enjoyed the short stay here, could happily have drunk a few more of the Görchla. Great start of the day.“

“Located in the middle of Memmelstorf, a stone’s throw from its main rival, this brewpub, despite its traditional interior, is rather fashionable compared to similar places in the area. It offers flights (4 x 15 cl, €10) of all its beers available on tap, and this selection includes a stout - a rarity on the quite conservative rural Bavarian brewing scene. The beer is tasty and it is served by polite and knowledgeable staff. A good place to start beer hiking in the area.“

“Located in the centre of Memmelsdorf, this brewery-cum-guest house is one of the places to begin one’s hiking along the 13-Brauereien-Weg. Only one beer is available on tap, but it is a good one. Friendly staff. Fair prices.“

“Medium sized place with a nice biergarten in the back. Too bad good portion of patio is covered with plastic roof, but I assume they have adapted to the pandemic. Selection was limited to two good beers. Worth a quick stop.“

“Upscale hotel/restaurant/brewpub split into three different rooms, ranging from modern and sterile to traditional and overdecorated. Service is very friendly, wifi is available and the coolship-inspired toilets with pissoir headrests are great! The beers here (4 on tap and a couple of bottles available) are pretty idiosyncratic and worth a short visit for sure, even though the place is rather pricey for the region.“

“Update: A Lager and a Kellerbier on tap now, both scoring a 3.6. No dirtiness at all except for a little acetaldehyde house character. Service is very friendly and welcoming, wifi is available and the food is great. Quite an underrated brewery if you ask me.

Stopped by here while waiting for our bus to arrive (bus stop Drosendorf is directly opposite the Gaststätte). The cheerful matron served us 1-litre steins for just 2,50 Euros, the beer is very rustic but thoroughly enjoybale. Definitely worth a short visit.“

“Visited this place on a Saturday morning, quite busy with lots of hotel guests finishing their breakfast, calmed down after a while though. Big space with lots of tables and a bright wooden décor, very homely. Also a house cat that doesn't shy from snuggling up to strangers (when it can sneak into the Gaststube). The Görchla has a unique savouriness going for it but the Bock was a little too buttery for my taste. Waitresses are very friendly, wifi is available and prices are still reasonable at 2,80 EUR a half-litre. Lots to do in the vicinity so no reason not to drop by.“

“Visited on a monday morning for frühstück and the Görchla beer. Sat outside in the biergarten, which lacked a little atmosphere. Service with a smile. I enjoyed a decadent multi-steak Braumeisterpfanne that almost kept my engine running throughout the day. Beer is on the malty side of unfiltered Lager.“

“Visited on bockbier anstich. Kellerbier was filthy but the dunkler bock quite nice. Close to Hohn, Hummel, Griess, Krug, Rossdorf, Knoblach etc. Easy to reach and worth the stop!“

“Visited 5.10.17. The opposite of the other Drei Kronen in the area. Well-lit, bright and friendly, quite a few taps (6 maybe) and bottles and an honest attempt to modernize the place. Young and friendly staff. Not sure about their English as I've been practicing my German all along. Too bad both beers we ordered - the lager and the marzen - were overly buttery.“

“In the outskirts of the village of Memmelsdorf. Friendly young lady taps your beer and makes your delicious Brotzeit. Beer smells a bit buttery but tastes fine. Nice stop for solid food and a beer.“

“Stayed here a couple of days in June 2016. Very nice place with 4 beers from the tap (Helle Lotte, Keller Bier, Summer Ale and Stöffla), good traditional food and more than excellent service.“

“Visited July 2013. This is the least favorite of the kellers I’ve visited. It’s set amongst suburbia with wooden benches and some trees to cover it. No views even though it’s on a hill. The one beer, Gorchla, was thankfully better than the infected one I had at the brewpub/motel, but still only fair. Krugs are not branded. No hot food except the local flamkuche dish; the Flamkuche Spezial was extremely thin and about as substantial as a communion wafer. Really a bit crap.“

“Visited again July 2013. Not the good second impression. Sat outside in an area next to the parking lot of what seems like a motel. Very slow service. Their single beer, Gorchla, was awful and tasted like it was infected. Visited March 2012. I found this smart modern restaurant to be a bit soulless. I just had the potato soup to eat which was a small serving and not good value. The regular Gorchla was good. The staff were helpful when I came back a second time after my bus didn’t show up at the stop across the road.“

“Visited late afternoon on 25/7/2013 on my way back from Merkendorf, when the garden was already busy with a mixture of pensioners and families on their way home from school. Just across the street from the bus stop to Bamberg, which has frequent buses during the day and early evening. Beers were fine and atmosphere friendly.“

“Visited december 2009, with my parents. Very traditionel, cosy village brauhaus, with beers, that are well served and in ok condition. They do food as well, but we didn´t eat there. Very nice that the 2 brewpubs in Memmelsdorf are within walking distance ;-)“

“Visited a couple of times, in good company with my parents. A traditionel brauhaus, placed very close to Bamberg. Easy to get there by car, and parking is just outside. Good selection of beers, brewed in a traditionel german style, well conditioned and served with a smile, from the friendly and serviceminded staff. They do traditional franconian food as well, but we haven´t eaten there yet. For sure worth a visit if you are in the area.“

“small grocery markt with a large selection of fresh bottled German beer, including a number of products not found elsewhere around Bamberg or Nuremberg. categorized by style and grouped by brewery, each for about $1. worth a stop on the way out to Hohn in Memmelsdorf or elsewhere to pick up a couple of bottles to sip during downtime on a park bench of grass field.“

“Ample and bright village pub, popular with locals; presumably nothing has changed here since the 1960’s. One quite mediocre house-beer is the regular offer all year round, in autumm You can enjoy a quite nice Bock-Bier here. Even though not the best and most typical franconian Gasthaus, this pub is far better than the Drei Kronen neighbour. Still recommended!“

“clean and bright dining area filled with locals, and out back a delightful patio in a relaxed setting. they offer the kellerbier on draught and in bottles year round, and the heller bock in the fall, and both are world-class. the food menu is very non-traditional, with many fish and chicken options. drie kronen, two doors down, makes subpar beer and is not a place I stop at anymore, but Hohn is a place I make sure to visit every time I’m in Franconia. The kellerbier is very Zoigl-like.“

“Ate, tried all the beers, and stayed at the inn. The food and beer are standard for the area... good, but doesn’t stand out. The inn is a bit overpriced, but nice, and the breakfast was awesome. There were 3 beers available when I went. You could get a sampler of all 3, but I’m an adult, so I got full glasses of everything. The great bonus of this place is that there’s another brewpub right next door.“

“There cannot be many villages in the world - even urban ones - that support two top rate brewery-hotels about 50 metres apart. Both to similarly high standards. We ended up eating and drinking in both ands would not like to call it. They are a good double act. The Rauchbier is pretty good.“

“Visited on 18/7/2012. Stopped by for a beer in this wood panelled bar. Barmaids were friendly and efficient and the Görchla beer was drinkable too. Didn’t eat but the plates coming out of the kitchen did look appetising. Worth a visit.“

“Traditional and, well, sagging a little. Sat in the pretty garden and forced my way through a below average Görgla / Dunkles. Food was cheap. Enjoyed my stop here, but definitely not a fan of the stinky piss-wall in the bathroom. A "Deep Cut" in the Bamberg area.“
