“Historical rating - visited 2019, but I doubt much has changed. Nothing really interesting, except there is a brewery shop where you can find some "rarer" ottakringers.“

“Still a bit hard to find because all the construction work in the street outside. Solid boozer. Welcome to the dark side I think you will a have a far better beer experience at AmmutsØn down the road. No offence. I would love to sit here and watch football someday. But there are other bar/pubs in this area that are a bit more interesting for me. “

“Probably the best beer place in Vienna for beer geeks. By far really. Solid tap selection and lovely bottle selection. Especially if you are into the sour wild world. Must come back with some friends. Some of these big bottles was veeeery temptation. But sitting there alone, and had to be back at the congress later. It would not be a good idea. Nice outdoor seating and a cousy brown interior I`ll be back! “

“Typical bar/boozer with a decent beer selection Also some beer they claim to be their own Did not manage to get anyone to tell me what brewery that makes them Deep secret maybe… Very close to the city centre. Also other breweries in the same area like 1516 and Mama Craft “

“What a nice location. Lovely traditional food and good beer. Would love to be here in summer when you can sit out in the park. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice walk from Salm brau or the other way around through the Belvedere Castle park. Or 15 min ish from Wieden Brau in the other direction “

“Easy to find in the heart of the city Looks very fine when you are going down to the basement with the brewing equipment as the interior. Nice friendly and helpful staff. I was there quite late. So they had plenty as time for some beer talk. Fine selection both on tap and can Nice place to eat also“

“We came here on 23.3.2024. This bar has become a taproom of Schalken brewery, located in Lobau. Very nice interior: modern bar and dark ambience. Service was friendly. 5 beers on tap: 2 ales and 3 lagers. Unfortunately beer quality is below average. The hoppy lager and the pale ale were drinkable, other 3 quite poor. We felt sorry as this place deserves much better beer.“

“Great store with a very wide variety of beers. They even sell some books and merch. I like that they keep a nice amount of brews from Austrian micros besides a vast array of international items. The staff speaks English and I could even communicate with the shopkeeper in Hungarian. They are super helpful. Awesome place, I'll go back for sure if I'm in Vienna again.“

“Little not only Burger bar with fair selection of beers. 14 on tap, mix of locals and internationals, there is also fridge with some bottled beers, mainly sours. Staff is polite and knowledgeable. Beers were more or less in good condition. If you are in Meidling are, go there.“

“After at least 20 years we came back to Black Raven on 28.1.2024. Small Brewhouse still in the back but not in use anymore. Has no connection to the Schwarze Rabe in Hartberg.anymore. New owner since 2017. First time I had Kaprsreiter beer brewed by Baumgartner. Still a good beer place with 5 beers on tap and a few bottles.“

“We came here on 25.1.2024. New concept for Vienna: a food hall. A few small food places (Asian, Greek and Austrian) and a brewery in the rear left corner. Very well decorated with palm trees and comfortable furnitures. 4 beers on draft: Zwickel, Pils, Weißbier and IPA. All beers were quite ok. Seems the owners have been brewing in England for some time. Really like the ambiance, reminded me of our time in Philadelphia.“

“Visited January 2024. It’s a very modern craft beer bar. Very international and cosmopolitan guests. 12 beers on tap, which were mostly all types of IPAs, some stouts, sours and one rare Cantillon lambic. Bottled beers are exclusively 750 ml lambics (I saw Bofkont), but can imagine how expensive they should be, as the cheapest tap starts at 5.90 and the others at 6.90. The tap list did not hit the spot for me. But had some nice beers, played some matches of chess with my girlfriend and had good time. Nice bar and they place to since nothing else like this is around. Please note that the area around U-Bahn station Neubaugasse (close to the bar) turns into a very unsafe area in the night with many creepy people, including supposedly Arabian drug dealers.“

“Visited January 2024. It’s a restaurant brewpub, which offers 5 beers on tap: Helles, Märzen, Pilsner, Weizen, Amber Lager. Very touristy as it’s located close to Belvedere Castle, you won’t see any locals or German speaking guests there. But that doesn’t mean that this is a bad place at all. Very good, friendly, prompt service. Good beers. Good food. Prices okay. I was satisfied.“

“Large restaurant and brewpub not far from the centre. Lovely back garden, very spacious, that's where we sat. Food looked like good quality huge portions, but also wasn't cheap. Staff ranged from excellent: super friendly service with a smile, even proffering their taster tray - which came full of massive overpours - to pretty terrible: we simply couldn't get their attention, and then something odd happened with the beers in the second taster tray, and then we couldn't get their attention again to pay. Quality was pretty decent, but one of the beers showed signs of having unwanted guests. Did have some interesting beers in the huge but fairly sparse fridges. Worth a visit, certainly.“

“A pleasant enough bar aimed at the beer geek, but just smelling a little of beer wankery too. Sure, they've got the fridge full of outrageously expensive lambic whales, but the only problem that solves is that of insecure fools needing to impresss other fools with how sophisticated they are via the mechanism of conspicuous consumption of veblen goods. And if I wanted that I could get it at home for less (or more, more's better, right?). The flight situation has at least changed since Marduk's 2021 visit, they now do do tiny sample pours - just at a price that makes them utterly nonsensical. The tap list has all the craft styles that are so hot right now - hazy shits, smoothy sour shits, and more lactosey hazy shits. Yes, real shits - most barely scored over 2. So, to be honest, even when you've included 50 lambics, this bar still has a *terrible* selection. And La Quince and Piggy, FFS? I ignore that at home! Staff were friendly enough, it's an OK environment - even has the scuffed pressboard hoarding to prove that it's a shabby-chic "dive". It's just not where I'd go for a good beer.“

“Lovely traditional brewpub with a good hearty menu too. We did "starter" sausages, and the gulash sauce was better than the surprisingly gutless horseradish and mustard, Marduk's "small" ribs were big enough for Marduk to hide behind, until after he'd eaten them - you can't hide that. Spacious terrace, no music, very relaxing. Seems like they have up to 6 core beers and a seasonal special. Alas, this summer's Weizen was out for us. They don't do flights, min pour was 300ml, and the top pick was probably the Hanf (hemp) beer, because it wasn't weedy at all, absolutely delicious, but all were decent. Friendly service, and, hilariously, our broken 'Allo-'Allo German was enough to fill the gaps after our English failed. Curiously, they have a 1L PET vending machine in the tunnel leading into the pub, so if you miss any live, grab one to take away. Opens for lunch, so a great place to start a day in town - recommended, certainly.“

“Lots of taps, and a scary number of bottles. Lots of international craft in that, so we were familiar with a lot of what was there. The menu's amazing, they've put a lot of effort into that. Does flights, 6 x 100ml for 10e is a sweet deal IMHO. Stuffy inside on a hot day, but there was just enough space on the terrace for us to squeeze in between two small groups. Well worth a visit - in fact a must-visit place in town.“

“Looks like 20 taps, but it's just 10 in duplicate. Mostly macro swill. Staff were friendly - Irish natives it seems - but unaware that both the beers - large at that - were utterly rank - including their own bespoke house beer. A "beer bar" for dumb tourists who don't know what a beer bar is, and who end up ordering shots anyway. Noisy and full of said people. Best avoided.“

“This was quite a trek to get to, but public transport's so frequent that shouldn't put you off. There was some sort of a birthday party going on when we arrived, all the tables were reserved, but we were allowed in and could sit up at the bar. That's fine - thanks for accommodating us! Modern and slightly sterile interior, echoey with its high ceiling, but fun murals give it some character, in particular in the loo area downstairs. 6 taps, 4 were ticks, and they do 4x1dl flights for 6e - magic! Quality was OK, about middling for modern craft.“

“I think they had 9 beers on tap, and they do flights of ... 9 - that's handy! (OK, 6 was also available, but why would you do that?) There's also additional stuff in the fridge - we grabbed a couple. Nice little place, a bit sparse inside, and a bit crampt outside on the somewhat noisy terrace. We did both, as the storms arrived about 20 minutes after we did. Friendly staff, good English spoken, plastic taken, and weird and wonderful piped music - we even had Rocket Man. No, the Shatner version! A bit of a trek (by tram) from most other places on our map, but worth the trip. Does food, and seems very family friendly.“

“Lovely traditional sophisticated-feeling food pub, very well appointed dark wood and leather seats interior. Huge terrace outside too, pleasantly spotted with shade, which is very pleasant as it's a quiet little corner of town a whole block away from any of the hustle and bustle of the big city. Well connected by public transport, we trammed. They only have 3 of their own beers, and do flights that were small enough that we didn't want to share one, we just went for normal small pours. Quality was solid, but not exceptional. Service on the terrace was good - swift and friendly. Brewpubs always carry a higher priority for me, and in particular ones which do good beers, so I'd say this is totally worth the trip.“

“Very dimly lit place, seems like an old man's local, nothing intrinsically wrong with that. Weird selection on tap, and a wide selection of bottles, both local and import. We easily found ticks. Alas not all the pipes were clean. No card payment - is this still in the Austro-Hungarian empire? I'd hit its bottle collection again, certainly.“

“Technically it was the BrauWerk festival that was in the courtyard here, so I'm rating this as a place, even though we never got inside. Mostly so I can repeat the fact that they sold their own beers on their own premises at their own festival just plain off.“

“Went to a beer festival (month-long?) here. It's a big macro facility, but it dabbles with kraft under the "BrauWerk" brand. The boring beers were blessedly boring, the exciting crafty stuff ranged from terrible to send-Anna-to-find-the-brewer-and-give-him-an-earful. I'm sure their beers are available quite widely, so I can't imagine a good reason to come here.“

“Pleasant dimly lit bar with 6 taps and a decent selection in the fridge. Alas the taps were lined up for a Stu Mostow TTO, so our choice was limited, but the fridges solved that problem. “Cosy little bar a short hop from the centre by various forms of public trasport. Not "small" cozy, just "not spacious" cosy - we're next to the door, and we can read the untappd monitor on the back wall. Good tap selection, 14 of local and international craft, including a real ale, and predefined subsets of that can be taken as a flight, so we did two of those plus a half of the real ale. Beers were craft, so you get what the dice roll. Staff were pleasant. Marduk's food looked good. Prices were acceptable. Good place, worth a visit.“

REINDORFGASSE 10
“Small but well-appointed little bar, one where you feel like you wouldn't want to spill your beer at all. Only had one beer on tap, but did have some craftish macroish stuff in the small fridge. We were chasing Marduk, so grabbed a quick bottle and made haste. Staff was friendly, but didn't speak the best English. However, how much English, or Austrian, do you need to order a beer? - practically zero, so no problem. Not for tickers, but seems like a nice place for less-young locals.“

“Just an expansion of Salm, presumably the lion's share is brewed here, and their original brewpub's returned to mostly being a training facility. The 5 beers on offer are obviously exactly what's on in Salm Brewpub, but uniquely here (well, didn't see them at the brewpub) were Salm Schnapps and a cider, which we had because ticks - that was good. Staff was very sloppy, and they had that tedious 'sorry mate, not my zone' policy so that if you were at the wrong table, you can't get served. Do one or the other, no need for both, and because the cider's here, perhaps do only here? Lovely environment at the edge of a park, but having to wait around like an idiot when I'm short of time makes me not enjoy the environment, just sayin'.“

“We sat in the beer garden on a hot day - they had several huge spritzing fans keeping the area cool. It's smallish, and was a bit crowded, but pleasant enough - there was a table for 2 and that's all we needed. 5 x 1dl flights were 10e, which is fine as there wasn't even one duff one - the dunkel and weizen were lovely. It was a busy day, and it was food time, so there was a lot of confusion over whether we needed a menu, and whether we needed beer, and whether we could pay, and where the loos were, but we coped, and I wouldn't have wanted to trade places. The food menu looked quite tempting - local meaty fare - but we didn't eat. Good brewpub - reasonably recommended - just try to avoid peak hours. However, their new restauarant in the park - Stockl - has all the same beers, and a cider too, so perhaps just go there instead?“

“You know, I like Paulaner, but I don't expect to come to Austria and have a "House Beer" turn out to be from Germany. Bollocks. Technically there would have been a single tick for me, but we hadn't done all the searches yet, so I just jumped on the thing that was obviously special and unique. Oh, well, so they got more money off me than they deserved. Nice beermats - let's steal a couple. At least the service was relatively swift, and he made no attempt to hide the origin of the beer when pressed. We went early in the day - it was pretty civilised.“

“Your task is to review all the beers here, and also review this pub - your time starts ... now! What a laugh this place is, probably the Aussie influence - namely the brewer who also works behind the bar, and is well up for bants. He even carved the wooden flight holders, beer taps, and signs on the loo doors. 6 beers on tap from what looked like a potential 8, but a decent range of styles represented, and there are flights in case you're unsure, or just a ticker. Not all the beers were on form, one was downright dodgy - or do I mean doggy? - but the more robust styles were decent. Entz seems to be important here, there was a pub quiz when we arrived (we even did a partial entry) that literally had a joke round. But what jumped out most about that was the fact that they have "Taskmaster Nights" each week. How do you top that?“

“The TL;DR is that when we were trying to hit as many pubs as possible in town in a short period of time, we came here twice. And we ate both times. The marinated schnitzel was glorious, and the sour potato salad that accompanies it is just perfect. Decent value too. It was a blazingly hot day, but we got a table near an open window looking out over the shaded terrace, so were happy about that; it has a strict non-smoking policy too - which seems unusual for this town - again, that made us happy. 5 regular beers, and 5 seasonal brews, and flights served. Great staff - ours properly nerded out about the beers, he even told us exactly what hops were in some of the pale ales, and recommended a drinking order. Range was varied, and quality was pretty decent too. Ten ticks and a nice full belly. See you tomorrow! Superbizzaro - the next day, there was an Estonian couple sitting at the table behind us! Small world.“

“Macraft bar. Decently well appointed, though. Has a house beer, but it's almost certainly a dodgy rebadge. Slightly more interesting range in the fridge. Touristy, expensive. Got ticks and ran. It's near other places, so you might as well stick your head round the door if you have the time.“

“Dim, low-ceiling space, with a long bar, and lots of tables. Busy and noisy. The bartenders seem to speak English to everyone by default, which is odd. They are quick and friendly, though. The tap list is pretty quality, with mostly light, traditional styles, but a couple more aggressive, crafty options. The food I had was quite good. A fun and interesting place, but feels more American than European.“
