“Another total wine. Selection lesser than in some other states but as this is TW I can not complain. Service was OK at best. I am guessing I was just unlucky so see still asleep person as it was just 930 am. Still she could be more polite.“

“Cozy but not cramped, it has plenty of seating inside and out. This new brewery started strong and should do well. Servers are alert, helpful and friendly. Music is not too loud for conversation, and when I was there they played a nice mix of oldies and contemporary songs. You’ll want to fly in time and again.“

Wise Owl Growlers (Beer Store)
2615 GEORGE BUSBEE PKWY
“It's a typical growler shop in a strip mall type atmosphere. Taps on the back wall with a reach in cooler for cold selections and shelves on the walls with bottles of more fun stuff. Service was friendly and seemed slightly knowledgeable, but I was dismayed by a bottle of pale ale from Terrapin that was more than 2 years old, that they had stopped bottling and switched to cans more than a year before. I couldn't believe it was still on the shelf, it made me not want to buy anything from there ever again.“

“Minimal frills space adjacent to the production space, with a decent sized bar area and some arcade games and a pool table up front. Service was excellent, super friendly and knew a bunch about the beer. Selection is pretty decent every time I've been, good amount of variable styles, and all well done. A good stop in Kennesaw for local beer.“

“This is just plain a fun place to visit. Keep your eyes peeled while headed down Moon Station because it is easy to miss. Once inside, you know you are not in any ordinary brewery. Servers are fun people, but still efficient. You can sit inside, amongst all kinds of memorabilia, or outside on a patio or a sward along a creek if the weather is nice. You can get beer on-tap or in bottles and cans. A must!“

“A nice industrial-style brewery near a couple of quarries that's cool and spacious, including outside seating with multiple cornhole games set up. The selection isn't extensive (9 on draft - 1 just blew before I got here), but the beer is good, and the service is excellent. No food, but I'm sure they'd be fine with you bringing some in. Definitely worth the stop if you're in the area.“

“A clean, corporate Total Wine with an extensive (although not esoteric) beer selection with a nice assortment of locals and regionals that's worth a stop if you're from out of town and are passing through.“

The Nest (Bar)
2921 CHEROKEE ST NW
“This place has an outstanding tap list which rotates. lots of stouts , ipa’s, pales, and sometimes barley wines. the food is excellent and service has always been good. The only drawback is the lack of a footrest at the bar which makes staying a while a little less comfy, however there is plenty of comfortable seating at numerous living room style chairs inside and out on the awesome covered porch. This may be the new brick store of the metro atlanta area“

“You’re not gonna believe this, but this place is right next to the RR tracks in the center of Kennesaw. Right next to BurgerFi with it’s own parking lot. Inside is a big room with restaurant tables, then another room with the bar and a dozen or so stools. Rainy day, so I didn’t see the rooftop, but you can watch (and hear) the trains go by through the front window. Food is very tasty, and the young servers do a good job. Taps had a decent variety of local, regional and stuff from farther afield. Nice place for a meal.“

“Stopped by during a short trip from ATL mainly to try Burnt Hickory, which is a ten minute drive. This place is on the very end of a massive mall complex, holy cow. Tons of parking. Selection is very broad, well organized, with plenty of local beers. Worth a look.“

“Interesting place. Parking is adequate, at least on a Saturday. Tap room looks like an old storefront, two rooms, plus a larger industrial space for the brewpub in pack, that you can see through an open doorway. Bar is in the second (far) room, just a small serving affair. Plastic cups, so thankfully no shaker pints to carry around with you all day. Ten of their beers on offer including one bottle pour. ’70s alternative playing, with vintage album covers all over the walls, most for sale. Beers were creative to say the least, some tasty others less so. I have a feeling that some of their beers are far stronger than the 9% indicated on the taplist. Definitely a worthwhile visit.“

“Small tasting room with minimal space inside and out, a lot of old records on the wall, giving it an old school punk club vibe, which is probably what they were going for. Service was friendly and accommodating, chatted for a while about the local beer scene and the industry in general. Good selection, with a lot of stuff that you can only find in their tap room. The beers were all pretty weird, off the wall type stuff, to me a lot of misses, but a few good hits. Solid place if you’re north of the city.“

“Recently visited this location for the first time...decent brewery and certainly worth a visit. Went early on a Friday evening...and it did get crowded pretty fast after we arrived. The place itself is not that special from a design perspective...although I did like the music pictures on the wall...some a bit more obscure than the average music fan of the genre would know. I did find the staff and management very nice...and accommodating. At the end of the day it’s about the beer (and not having to head down to Atlanta if you are living or visiting north of the city)...and that was good to very good. There were 9 in the tap room and another 2 in the brewhouse. Being a hophead I enjoyed the 5 hoppy beers they had...at least 2 were very good and to my liking. Aside from those there were a number of unusual or original recipes...there was actually a 6th IPA called Wrong Em Boyo...which was a banana foster coffee IPA on nitro (how’s that for original?). There was a brown ale with coconut, almond, and molasses called In ’N Out of Grace. Also, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention one of the brewhouse beers...the Agent Bob’s Sweet Cherry Pie...a cherry/vanilla stout at 9%. Now that was a good beer. I was visiting from NJ with my sister and brother-in-law from Marietta...all 3 of us were visiting for the first time...and all 3 enjoyed the visit and fair number of the selections. I recommend a stop here when on the north side of Atlanta.“

“If not the best brewery in GA, it’s top 5 for sure. Innovative beers, nice folks. Just expanded the brewery, no tasting room yet but they do once a month tours- which are usually a must do. The beer is expensive right now outside the brewery, but after they settle in with more production and wider distribution, that should change.“

Wise Owl Growlers (Beer Store)
2615 GEORGE BUSBEE PKWY
“Interior is typical of a growler store, warm and inviting. They are new, but the store doesn’t have a sterile feel. The fellow behind the counter provided quick service and plenty of beer-related chat. Selection favors local crafts; but it doesn’t skimp on great crafts from around the country, or foreign brewskis. Bottle selection is impressive, too. Drop in and tip ’em well!“

Taco Mac - Kennesaw (Restaurant)
600 CHASTAIN ROAD, SUITE 310
“Interior is typical for a Taco Mac, long bar, plenty of booths and tables, lighting kept low, a bunch of TVs tuned to sports stations. Beer selection, as usual, is formidable, emphasizing craft brews, though they have some industrial slop to appease the die-hards. Service is efficient, friendly, and welcoming. Food is Taco Mac typical, as in a cut above most bar food. Maybe two cuts above. If you live in northwest Metro Atlanta, this is a must.“

“The sun is shining (at least here in Georgia), it’s a gorgeous day, tasty food is plentiful, we all have our health, the world keeps on turning, and a wide variety of music is available for our listening enjoyment!

If I may ask, what more does one need? Sure, a cool westerly breeze wafting through the open windows, the dog contentedly sleeping on the couch, and the smell from a well-smoked brisket still lingering in the air are all good and fine, acceptable answers, but what else?

If you answered Burnt Hickory Brewing, then you’re ahead of the game and joining the winning team.

There are certainly more breweries located in Georgia then when I started this beer thing. Many are very good. A couple are excellent. A few are true misses. Some are as bland and mild as a baby’s fart. Oftentimes, trying to compare them is like comparing apples to oranges and oranges to fresh-baked pretzel bread.

Burnt Hickory’s beers are big and they are bold. Yes, I know I throw that around far too often, but this time it’s 100% accurate. Their Charred Walls of the Damned is the most fun you can have while actively fearing for your own life. The Kolb Farm Imperial Stout will leave you with way more blood to clean up in the morning than just about any other local stout available. All of their beers are good, many of them are exceptional. Just take care not to chug them down too fast, lest your friends mistake you for attempting to win a free T-shirt or get your name on a wall somewhere. I wish them all the best as they proceed through this time or growth and expansion.

I will now yield the floor.“

“A fair drive from Atlanta, but I was in the general area and decided to drop in. Their beer selection is on a par with other Total Wines I have visited. Prices seemed a little better than those at the Alpharetta and Perimeter locations. Service is efficient, friendly and helpful. If you live anywhere near the 75-575 split, lucky you - this is a good beer store.“

“Much better than the Alpharetta location! Has one full aisle of craft, plus an additional aisle of macro bricks. Service is characteristically spotty, but helpful enough if anyone wanders into the beer aisle. Stellar selection of singles; it can take hours just to see what they have! All domestics are arranged by style, and all imports are arranges by origin. Decent selection of sixpacks and bombers, and some good variety packs in the back. Overall fairly priced, although just pennies cheaper than most places. No volume discount for anything but wine.“

“Great locally owned small chain of sports and craftbeer bars. I’ve been to several but freqent this one as it’s near the mall and a family member’s house. Ths one is a bit newer and bigger than some of the others. Obviously there are Atlanta area beer bars with better atmosphere or food...but you come here for the huge selection and to enjoy a sports bar and pretty much a family restaurant in the earlier hours. This place reminds me a bit of the west cost chain called Yards but without the corporate feel. This is definitely a great place to experiment with drafts and bottles.“

“Huge place. They have two aisles, at least 100 ft long and 4 or 5 shelves high, full. They also have a good sized cooler in the back and a walk in cooler for kegs and larger packs of domestic swill. Lots of hard to find items, at least in the South, like Lost Abbey, Port Brewing, Clown Shoes, some harder to find Sierra Nevada stuff, and various others. It’s a really expansive stockpile. The staff was courteous and helpful. Prices are decent. Much cheaper than it would be to order some of the West Coast brews. “

Beverage Resort (Beer Store)
1641 COLLINS ROAD NW
“There was a time when I would recommend Beverage Resort. Sadly, that time has long since passed. Their beer selection has fallen on hard times in recent years, with little of the new breweries available in the GA market finding their way here, particularly since the selection is being increasingly overwhelmed by a growing presence of basic macro beers. Their only advantage is that they’re the last liquor store in the area to close. So, there’s always that. Ah, Beverage Resort, we hardly knew ye.“

Taco Mac - Kennesaw (Restaurant)
600 CHASTAIN ROAD, SUITE 310
“Ah, Chastaino Mac. One of the newer Taco Mac locations, the inner decor is a distinct cut above the older joints, but it still essentially boils down to: booths, bar, ONE THOUSAND televisions. Plus, this particular locale has a decent-sized patio, if that’s your thing, but being a BIG FAN of air conditioning, you’ll usually find me hunkered down at the bar. The food is pretty tasty, plentiful, and reasonably priced for bar grub. Typically, I go for their Turkey and Swiss Panini or Havana Cuban. The service, as is true for any bar, ranges from adequate to proficient. This is another reason for sitting at the bar, as it expedites the bar-getting process, plus the bar staff is usually a bit more knowledgeable, beerwise, as they spend their shifts stationed right next to the taps and coolers. I find their draft prices to be wholly acceptable and cannot remember a single time I balked at the bill, though their prices on large-sized, imported bottled beer can be a bit high. Now, I’d wager their bread and butter is the sale of macros, the Budmilloors stuff, and in catering to that particular crowd they serve their beers in extremely frozen glasses, so be sure to ask the staff for a non-chilled glass. The parking situation, while no fault of the establishment, can be a bit tight and awkward at this venue, as, in my opinion, there just aren’t quite enough parking spots to fully serve the shopping area this Taco Mac is located in, so keep that in mind. Overall, it doesn’t display the grace, finesse, and the rich experience that a trip to the Brick Store Pub can provide, but, for those of us facing long drives to Decatur, a Taco Mac, with their many locations, will do in a pinch (especially as this Taco Mac is 0.9 miles from my place).“

“I believe this place is high geared towards wine, and that seems odd in a college-aged dominated part of town. The beer selectin is pretty good, and the prices are cheaper here compared to a lot of other places. The only problem is between the first visit and the last visit the store did not seem to change their selection. At Green’s, they are constantly changing their selection, and you never kno what you could find. At Total Wine, they seem above average in their beer operation.“

“The feel of this place is awesome! Waterfall is great, nice setting. Service is always great, especially at night when Todd is there. He has incredible knowledge and is always willing to share it. The two older guys tend to just creep me out and every time I go there there is one guy always talking about dancing and hitting on women. The beer selection and pricing is the best around north Metro Atl. Vodka and rum prices can’t be beat. All other liquor prices are exceptional as well. However, they suffer when it comes to the higher end wines. The Yellow Tail, Woodbridge, all of the 1.5 are the lowest I’ve seen, but anything above $15 is beyond overpriced. The cigar prices are better than decent as well. Overall, the look and feel are incredible. The service is much better at night and ten times more knowledgeable, even the two college kids that work there know more than most people. The beer and liquor prices, especially the vodkas and popular beers, cannot be beat. The wine is suffering badly though, especially with Total Wine being two miles away. This is my favorite store, but I would never pay for wine here. At least check it out, I promise you’ll find a few things that you will always come here for. “

“In a warehouse filled from top to bottom with wines, bless Total Wine for finding some space for a decent beer selection, even allowing the sale of singles. However, none of this really matters, not really, because they actually refused to accept cash. Yes, my payment was denied, as apparently on Labor Day the ability to receive cash payments took a day off. So, drive on by Total Wine and head to Green’s, a place with a far, far superior beer selection that won’t balk at cash money.“

Rare countries of latin american and some asia bottles. Great prices on cases but still No signs of the mind blowing Belgian beers. Guess I’ll have to keep treking it down to Green’s.“

“Just opened up on Barrett Pky. Best selection north of Atlanta IMO. The best thing is they have a HUGE selection of singles and let you make mixed packs. Looked like 80 to 90% of their choices were available as singles. The only area in which they are lacking is Lambic. If you are going I 75 north this place is worth the stop.
