“Uriges Brauhaus. Über 100 Jahre alt. Jetzt Bio! 3 eigene gute Biere vom Fass und sehr leckere Slow Food Küche. Grünkohl mit Bregenwurst, Heidschnucke…Hier lohnt ein Stopp.“

“Modern style pizza restaurant with 4 to 6 beers on tap. 3 of them are own ones (Pils, Zwickel, Dunkel) and some guest beers (Schneider TAP 3 at our visit). Nice selection of bottles for a restaurant. Don't expect any rarities. Pizza is quite good, staff tries there best.“

“Franchise store a few minutes outside downtown (by car). Nowadays, they have a larger selection of German craft beer, as well as some european. Staff is mostly bored and if you have a question, they have to ask someone else. Offers are intresting, but not available (2 from 3 times). Just buying bargains.“

“Traditional, small Brauhaus with lots of memorabila from former times. Familly-owned since 1906. Smart service, native (or indigenous ?) food (mostly regional). Only two beers on tap, the Maibock comes during the next week. Hell und Dunkel typical German Pils.“

“Nice Brauhaus in the heart of the old Hanse Stadt. Max. 3 different craft beers on tap. The Zartbitter is very nice (and very hoppy), also the Rauchzart was still delicious. Nice staff and good prices for the menu.“

“Yet another Edeka supermarket? Not quite. This is the bigger offspring of the well-regarded “Sand Passage” in the town center; this incarnation is located close to the edge of town (to the south of the university), however, which means you get an actual parking lot (pretty good bike racks, too, but even I don’t buy crates of beer by bike) and a dedicated drinks market that has all the usual suspects, but also a truly impressive selection of Franconian and Bavarian beers, including seasonals (i.e. Christmas- and Festbier, at the moment). Did not need to test the service, so take that rating with a grain of salt, but the supermarket/delicatessen part of the outfit has had a sterling reputation for its service for literally decades. Did not notice a whole lot of German new wave-y, craft-y stuff, but wasn’t exactly looking for that today. I was in an old-school mood, and this place had a number of classics at very reasonable prices. I left as a *very* happy camper.“

“A former brewpub which has two beers on tap. Both beers are now brewed by Carlsberg. The food is standard German Brauhaus stuff. Don’t go here for ticks, but it’s an okay place to eat if you’re in town anyway. Close to the lovely, old town square.“

“A small deli with attached cafe, you can buy bottles to take-away or drink there. It’s very ’craft’ - furniture upcycled from crates, jam jars as glasses, etc. Beer is mostly from German craft brewers, eg. Crew Republic, Kehrweider, Ratsherrn, plus a few US and British examples. Prices are deli rather than supermarket, but could be worse! 2018 update: range now includes examples from several more international craft names with German distribution, e.g. Brewski, Pohjala, Steamworks, and I think fewer US and British. Update for 2022, they drastically cut back their beer range during the pandemic, it's now just a few Kehrweider bottles. Still good coffee though!“

“Nice old place, sprawls quite a long way inside. The polished coppers of the old brewery take pride of place at the back, though they weren’t brewing when we visited. The food is fairly standard stuff but good for eating with beer. Additional as of July 2014: the beer range expanded a couple of years back but has now contracted again. There’s Pils plus during winter the Marzen and during summer the Weizen. Update for 2022, the free WiFi seems more reliable than it was! Three beers on much of the time - the Pils, the seasonal, and one other. You still can't pay by card unless it's a German EC card.“

“Visited July 2013. Far enough outside of Lueneburg centre that you should take a bus if you have no other means of transport. A pleasant enough locals bar with a nice garden out back. I was able to warn my late-arriving friend to steer clear of the Hell which was a butter bomb. The Dunkel and Sommerlochbier were better if not great. All were cloudy. I tried their own distilled raspberry schnapps which was good.“

“Visited July 2013. Nice brewpub next to the defunct Kronen brewery. The beers were maybe a bit above average for a German brewpub. I had leberkase to eat which was good. They were breiwing on their shiny kit when we were there.“

“Visited July 2013.Nice biergarten in the old brewery yard, with attentive service. The inside looked pleasant although we didn’t drink in there. The Kronen brewery used to operate here and the brewhouse is now a museum which stupidly calls itself the Holsten Brewery Museum, after the company that took it over and shut it down.“

“Visited a very hot afternoon in Juli 2013, in the old part of town. Outdoor seating was full, so went indoors instead. Food was rich and tasty, traditional German fares. Good, attentative staff - only German-speaking. Selection was extremely narrow, as only two of their beers was on tap. The beers was fresh and well made. Especially the pilsener stood out. Reasonable prices despite being somewhat touristy. Well worth a stop if in Lüneburg.“

“Fair-sized drinks shop by the autobahn junction, beer selection is almost entirely German, as usual for a German Getraenkemarkt, but includes some relatively unusual names plus a better than average selection from others, eg. where other places will have one or two from Pyraser, RSB might have six. It’s also the only regular retail outlet for local micro Sommerbecker-Dachs. The manager is friendly and helpful. 2022 update - they've moved to the other side of the autobahn.“

“Visited a couple of times. Being in an old town house in the city center it can be a bit difficult to park close by, but with a little walking distance it is ok ( just remember to check the signs to avoid a parking ticket!! ) Cosy atmosphere, friendly staff and the beers are well served. Can at times be a bit crowded and touristed. They do traditionel brauhaus food as well. Great place to pitstop when travelling :-)“

“Visited a couple of times. Very cosy brewpub a bit from city center, but easy to park just outside. Friendly staff ( they would like to have a beery talk ), the beers are well served, and the atmosphere is very cosy. Normally they have 2 regulars and 1 season beer on tap. Think this is very much a place where the locals come. If you want to read todays newspaper just go to the mens toilet and it will be hanging on the wall for you to read :-). They do traditionel brauhaus food as well.“

“Well worth the long walk from town as the Hell was very hoppy by German standards. Dunkles nice too but found the Maibock a tad disappointing. Food and service good. For the hoppiness of the Hell I wish my "Total Score" was higher!“

“Upscale supermarket in the heart of town with prices to match, but also with the widest range in town - indeed, pretty much the only range! - of foreign bottled beers, plus a decent range of German bottles including some from new craft brewers. Update for 2022 - far fewer craft brewers represented now, it's mostly a broad range of German & international staples - but there's also a separate shelf near the deli with a selection of Franconian bottles, some of which aren't easy to find up north.“

“Hol’Ab! is a chain of (franchised) bottle shops. As well as the usual boring Pils by the crate, it carries a decent selection of more interesting German (notably but not exclusively Bavarian) beers. “Don’t be put off by the slightly clubby look - once you get inside this pub-restaurant it has a friendly local pub feel. There’s also something of a Franconian theme - if is one of the few places in town where you can get something other than Pils or Weizen on tap! Good schnitzels and steaks, and the staff speak German and English, too.“

“Nice cosy place, old style with lots of dark wood and German beer memorabila. Unless you want alcohol-free or somesuch, then there’s just the Nolte beers, usually light and dark Pils plus the seasonal. Traditional German pub food, plenty of wurst & schnitzel on the menu. “Big beer garden by the river, with boats for hire and also a playground, making it popular with families as well as drinkers of all ages. The menu includes salads and classic German pub grub. There is also an ice cream kiosk. 2022 update - the beers are now from Hamburg's Ratsherrn, plus a few guests. No more Jever or Mälzer. “Nicely located in an old timber house in the middle of the City - a good choice to spent some time in. The place itself is huge with several stores - which makes it quite nice. The beers are averages - they have two at the same time. Service is friendly - they also provide English menues. The food is average, a lot of variety and cheap.“
