80 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Easy reachable by train from Bruxelles, Boon offers a bit of a rural setting. There are a couple of tables outside, a shop and a bar on a first floor. Bar has a neat interior and a cozy atmosphere. Nice selection of Boon beers on tap and in bottles. Friendly and efficient service. Worth the trip from Bruxelles. |
82 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Absolutely amazing experience to visit this legendary lambic brewery/blendery ☺️. They have a really nice bottleshop with some high quality T-shirts and a quite extensive selection of their beers. We unfortunately didn't have time for the tour which takes an hour and a half 😪. The bar has a clean minimalistic Interior and a cosy atmosphere. They have a lot of exciting stuff available at the bar and in the bottleshop for reasonable prices 😋🍾. Highly recommended to visit this gem 😎. |
70 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Visited during TdG 2019. Big brewery, but also plenty of space in their massive yard. Friendly people, you do a self-guided tour but there's loads of people walking around to explain stuff, thoyugh it was very busy and we didn't ask anything. Decent selection of beers for a little cheaper than you'd pay in a regular bar. They had some food (only meat unfortunately) and weird entertainment. Overall a bit too busy and big for me, but nice to have visited this important brewery. Ithink I'd probably prefer a more intimate tour though. |
64 /100 Kring (Bar) STEVENS DE WAELPLEIN 15 Very pleasant small cafe beer bar in the village part of Lembeek, by the large Church and a 5 minute walk from the brewery. I passed through at sunset and the place was bustling with people mainly drinking macro lager. Very atmospheric and local but I have to say if you're looking for special Boon then you won't find it here. They had one tap of Boon Kriek when I was in and everything else was the usual suspects, mainly macro lager. I'm really surprised Boon have not got a proper local tap somewhere around here. |
74 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Visited during Toer de Geuze 2017. Pretty big and feels quite commercial. Nice self-guided tour, good beer variety. Not bad but somehow too pompous and missing atmosphere, personally I prefer smaller lambic brewers. |
88 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Visited during TDG 2017. Looking at all ratings before, most of the people did. The previous ratings are very devided, but I was a true fan of this place. It’s big, and for the occasion, they had a concert-tent in the back, 3 bars serving drinks, and a free , self-guided tour, including some straight up lambic barrel 109. The atmosphere here was alazing, the weather outside was perfect (not their accomplishment, but still, a very nice kinda ’cherry on the pie’ . The selection was very, very good. they had all stuff boon has made in the last years (!) inclusing a new one ( 5 year old lambic ). Yes, this will be kept in my mind as the best stop at TDG |
74 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 A huge brewing complex and the most commercial of the lot. There for TDG so not sure what it is. Or ally like but a great event with lots of their rare beer available. |
54 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Visited the 2nd May 2015 during the Toer de Geuze - Nothing to compare to a small Geuze breweries... Here you are on a industrial way! The installation is really modern and clean. The cellar is also amazing with huge barrel. Very extrem way of the geuzerie style. I don’t feel the special atmosphere that you have on a small geuzerie as the magic process and the feeling of the waiting time... |
62 /100 Kring (Bar) STEVENS DE WAELPLEIN 15 A bit disappointed with this one. Ok café and the regular beers from Boon and common beers from the usual subjects. Guess my expectations were too high .Certainy worth a look if doing the brewery tour but not worth going out of your way for. |
66 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Visited during TdG 2013. Will have to rerate when I do a full brewery tour. |
70 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Nice visit to one of the classics. The original boiling kettle is now exhibited. Also the big vats cellar is impressive. |
72 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Visited during the Tour de Geuze, with 77ships. Met half the beer geeks from Belgium and the US. Did not take the brewery tour, the line was too long. Too bad, I would have liked to check out the koelschip. |
76 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Visited during Tour de Geuze 2013. Didn’t see much of the operation but everything was organized in a smooth way, good service, commercially minded. Good prices for Boon products. Guided tours are possible with reservations. Nice place to check out if you are a fan of Boon. |
82 /100 Kring (Bar) STEVENS DE WAELPLEIN 15 Boon representative café. And a nice beerlist |
96 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Always friendly staff.
You can visit the brewery in groups. |
88 /100 café Jubaluze (Bar) CLAESPLEIN 1 Friendly staff. Modern Interior. Ideal place to have a kriek Boon on the terrace when you are in town, or passing by as cyclist. |
76 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Visited for TdG 2013. Most of the facilities for beer tourists were temporary, so I can’t comment on how this place usually is. What I will say is that Boon know how to organize a celebration. The crowd control and general proceedings were handled with admirable efficiency. Despite the large number of people onsite, everyone seemed to be getting pours of Boon beer with little queuing. The massive foeders are quite impressive, as are the more modern parts of the brewery. Overall, nice. |
76 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 Visited during Tour de Geuze 2013, the day after the opening of the new brewhouse.
During the year, for groups it’s also possible to visit the brewery, after making a reservation - check the website. In July & August individual visits are possible every Wednesday at 3pm, without reservation. Great atmosphere during the Tour de Geuze, can’t comment on how it will be the rest of the year. |
88 /100 FONTEINSTRAAT 65 visited during the Tour de Geuze 04/21/2013
if you have to choose to visit 1 Geuze Brewery, then I can recommend this one |
100 /100 Kring (Bar) STEVENS DE WAELPLEIN 15 One of my favourite places in Belgium. An incredible atmosphere, great owner and fresh boon.
|
