“Small shop inside a strip mall, next to a cigar shop, with easy access off of route 70. Easy parking. Not too busy on a wednesday evening. Friendly counter man. Don’t plan on getting any cheap mixed sixers here. Mostly a wine and six pack shop. Owner will not break apart six packs. However, there is one side of an isle that has some bombers and a few imports. They seemed quite pricey, startling pricey! I did spot a couple odd import beers I’ve never seen anyplace else before, nice find. I left with a few Fatti imports. I wanted to get a few more but the prices were prohibitive & left me balking. Also, the main reason I stopped here was to get a few locals, not really any of those here either.“

“This place used to be Interstate Liquors now South Mountain Spirits. Free medium size dedicated parking right in front. One guy working and he was at the register. Place had a few customers perusing during my visit. Prices seem going rate.“

“Small free strip mall parking. This place was fairly busy and really tight aisles. They had a wine tasting going on during my visit. Service was average. Selection was some what limited. Some gems, but pricing was seemed above average (sump $30 a bottle). Might come back.“

“Place is actually called Cut Rate Liquors. Small free strip mall parking. Some people there during my visit. There was a guy behind the counter, but did not leave. Selection was limited. Most of the beer is on the right. Mostly BMC. There is some mead in a separate room in the back right past the liquor.“

“Free dedicated parking right in front. Part of a strip mall. The check guy was not to slow, all people did not leave registers to answer questions. Some nice bottles were available, but somewhat limited quantity. I purchased one.“

“Not too far off the interstate in a residential area. Small free dedicated parking lot near a small creek. Good selection of beer, a fair amount of labels, and pretty good prices. Sometimes they have some interesting meads. Unfortunately they do not seem to break up some six-packs now. Helpful staff. If you go past Hagerstown on the interstate this place is worth the stop.“

“Couple miles down the road from the hotel we were staying at in Hagerstown. Like others have said it’s in a residential area. Handy for sure if you live in that neighborhood! Small place, tight quarters, fair selection. Didn’t like that some of the product was not priced but what was priced seemed fair. Fella workin the counter was busy on the phone, for like the 15 minutes i was there so never got a chance to talk with him. Hell, he rang me up while he was yammerin on the damn phone. Found a few brews i,d not seen before. Grabbed a bomber and hauled my ass outta there as the boss was waiting on me. nice place, fair selection and not busy at all on a monday morning. Worth a stop if yer in the "neighborhood" for sure.“

“A noisy local bar in a strip mall. Service was OK, but it was too busy to really tell. Selection was pretty big but very average in quality. We didn’t east and prices were OK. Skip-able.“

“Nice place in the downtown of Hagerstown. German food was really tasty, staff was friendly (though a touch overwhelmed for the lunch rush on the weekend day I went there). Food was really tasty, no frills, but solid when compared to other German-American restaurants I’ve been to. Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of draft beers, but that’s pretty much an expectation. Bottle list is slightly more adventurous than most German restaurants, which is nice. The draft beer tasted really fresh, which was a nice surprise.“

“Stopped by here coming home from a work assignment to check it out. Pretty standard liquor, wine and beer store with decent beer offerings leaning more on the macros than craft. Service was friendly and prices were fair. I’d say maybe a exceptional find if lucky, overall Wooden Keg isn’t that much farther away (sorry).“

“Really need to come back here, they were 1 week away from brewing last time we visited. Unassuming strip-mall sports bar on the outside, inside is half sports-bar and half dining around a mini-brewery. The beers (drank elsewhere) were decent, food at the brewpub was standard bar-fare. Worth a nice lunch if you’re in the area (~10 mins. from the Outlets).“

“I’ve been to this store a few times since I have in-laws in the area. Kind of outta the way east of Hagerstown on 64, easy to miss small-looking liquor store. Inside though they have a great selection including beer intentionally aged! Great beer selection, so so wine and liquor. Also for beer single bottle selection is limited, no mix 6’ers or anything. I make a point to stop here when I can, have found some nice gems. Best beer store (I know of) in Washington County.“

“Stopped in here on my way home from Pittsburgh. Good selection going for them. Walked in and they had 2 bombers of Backyard Rye just chillin on the shelf behind a $9.99 tag. 3 BC Barleywines next to them. Grabbed the Backyards and took them right to the counter. They ring up as $54.99 a piece. Looked at the prices on the 12 ounce Barleywines and saw them at $18.99. Give me a fucking break. Screw these guys. They laughed at me when I told them they were charging 3x retail. Regular Bourbon County was $9.99 a bottle. Not a good price but at least not as ridiculous as the others. They had a case of 2013 left (I stopped in on 5/31/14 btw). These guys are nothing but crooks. Don’t bother stopping in here. Hope the place catches on fire.“

“Not at all what I was suspecting, but I was certainly happy with the result. Place is actually a small, sports bar type place in an unassuming strip mall. Handful of beers to try and each was unique and quite good. Nano-sized operation, but quality product. Food was quite good with typical bar food like burgers and wings. Overall a cool place worth visiting.“

“This is a small brewpub in a located in a strip mall. It really has a sports bar feel to it. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon just before Christmas on our way to NJ. It is fairly small and everyone besides ourselves was seated around the bar watching a game. They were playing Judas Priest rather loudly (they were my favorite band back in high school, but luckily my tastes in both music and beverages have changed since then). There is a small seating area away from the bar that surrounds the small brewery. I had tried several of their beers a few months prior at the Bramwell Oktoberfest in WV and enjoyed them, so I was happy to visit the source. Overall, most of the beers that we tried were decent. The Best Bitter I thought had a bit of an off taste to it. I really enjoyed the Pickett’s Porter, which had a pretty serious coffee aroma and flavor; something that I enjoy in a porter. I liked the seasonal Winter Ale, although there was nothing really outstanding or memorable about it. We had some hot wings that were pretty decent. Overall, worth the visit.“

“A bar that wants to be "normal" and brew it's own beer. Very much a strip mall place. The burger was very good as was the service. 5 craft taps that were just okay. A good place for the area, but I wouldn't go too far out of my way to come... But would visit again.“

“Visited: 10-30-13 Ambiance: Typical bar set up with about 10 chairs at the bar...nothing special. Service: Bartenders were attentive at times but screwed up my order twice (and I only ordered two beers) Selection: I believe that they had 12 taps, 5 of which were BMC beers and the rest were in house...unfortunately, their beers were very weak Food: Ugh...ordered the Crab Stuffed Jumbo Shrimp, which was basically large shrimp sitting on a pile of overly bready ’crab’ meat. Plus, I am no foodie but isn’t the first rule of jumbo shrimp to remove the entrails??? Couldn’t even finish it with half the shrimp still pushing out turds. Value: The beers were $5 each and not worth it...the quality of the four beers that I tried were medicore at best and even worse at that price. Overall, forgettable...I wish I had gone to the other place done the road with the better tap list but I got sucked in by the ’brewery’ aspect.“

“This place is also known as Bennie’s Pub, and that’s the first sign we saw as we cruised through the strip mall looking around. Covered with Bud Light and other similar signs on the outside, but don’t let that worry you. Brewing equipment was visible in the bar itself, and fermentation vessels at the back. Five of their own beers available, in flights of four or five. Beers were OK, nothing to write home about, but OK. Servers and clientele alike were incredibly friendly. Worth a stop if you’re in the area.“

“This was a nice oasis after a hot summer hike. While the county laws keep them closed until noon on Sunday, our wait was rewarded. Their beers are quite good, and the food even better. The owners are clearly Packers fans, and I applaud that, particularly in Ravens and Steelers country. I will definitely be visiting here again.“

“This was a nice gem to find in Hagerstown. As we entered this warehouse looking facility, we noticed the abundance of beer and mere hint at wine and liquor. As I pulled some more expensive bottles off the shelf, we were immediately helped by the staff and offered some rarities from their cellar. The prices are good, though do not fret if you see a high price tag - check the vintage before you squeal. There was DFH 120 Minute for $24.99, but it was from 2007. That, is a fair price for a vintage beer, in my opinion. I will surely visit this liquor store again as my adventures take me close to Hagerstown.“

“Stopped for lunch. This place is in on a corner in downtown Hagerstown. Parking was on the street and we had to walk about a block and a half. I had the Bavarian salad and wiener schnitzel and both were very good. They had about half a dozen drafts and a dozen bottles to choose from. I would go back for the food, but the beer selection is nothing crazy.“

“This is one of the few liquor stores in Maryland which are beer first and liquor and wine second. Half the store is beer and they have a lot of seasonals and some rarities. The staff is hardcore passionate about beer and is friendly and loves giving recommendations. I wish they had a pick six section but that might be coming. All in all a very nice store.“

“These guys are THE bottle shop in the Washington/Frederick County area. Not from around here? Make the trip. If you are looking for it, they have it. Great selection of local brews, nice European representation, tons of gems from the west coast. Not sure what you’re looking for? Ask the guys, incredibly knowledgeable staff. Worth every extra mile on your whip to stop here and get some dank beer!“

“Location is weird, being sort of in the middle of a more residential area. Staff is great though and very knowledgeable. Place is stacked to the ceiling with beer and wine, with tiny aisles that you have to navigate. However they hvae a great selection of craft brews that include items that cannot found in other places in Western MD (like Stillwater Stateside Saison).“

“Broad Axe is a typical dive bar, although they have a fair amount of craft beers, both on tap and in the bottle. They usually have live music on the weekends, although the place is small so it gets crowded fast. Pool table, and outdoor smoking area as well. Haven’t had any food their so can’t comment on that aspect.“

“I was passing by on my way to Wooden Keg. I had never been in this shop so decided to make a quick stop and see what they had. While not having an extensive selection, I was pleasantly surprised to see a few Ommegang beers in stock. I seem to remember a few Dogfish Head beers and some Samuel Smith beers as well. Probably a handful more craft beers but those were all I recall and was interested in. I bought Omnegang Witte and Omnegang Hennepin 750ml bottles. Nice to know another source for Ommegang Abbey Ale. Ambience was average and staff were OK but distracted as it was getting close to closing time.“

“Plenty of parking, the store is kind of out in the middle of nowhere to some extent. The interior has a bit of a wooden ski lodge feel or something like that. One half is craft beers, one half is wine. A decent amount of cooler space. Good selection of craft beers, some things well represented that are less so at other places, like Goose Island. Staff was friendly and talkative during my last visit. Definitely worth a stop.“

“Arguably the best selection in Hagerstown. Certainly up there with Liquor Locker and Wooden Keg as far as selection goes and they each seem to complement each other on selection. Staff was talkative and friendly last time I was in, suggesting an Allagash. Good organization with the 12oz and stubby types on one side and 500, 550, and 750ml types on the other. Rear wall is cooler space. Tons of parking as it is in a shopping center that is past peak usage.“

“Really like this bar and restuarant. The food is really good (the blackened fish tacos are the bomb) and reasonably priced. There is a bar and restaurant upstairs, as well as a bar downstairs and I think they even have a loft for private parties, etc. Decent selection of local craft brews, microbrews and standard commerical brews. They serve Fat Tire here on the regular. Service has always been great. Lots of flat screens for watching football games as well.“

“Almost thought I had the wrong address keyed into my GPS as this is smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Inside its crammed full of product. Kind of a ghetto feel to it which isn’t helped by the fact that they slice 12 packs in half and tape them up to sell them as 6 packs. Just weird. The beer guy was very helpful. Good beer selection... I picked up some Flying Dog and some new brewery to hit the state from California. Prices seemed competitive. Nice stop.“
