“2022 New England Beer Tour, Stop 2 of 12, Oct. 12, lunch. A GPS is certainly useful when navigating turn after turn within Framingham to find Jack’s Abby in its light industrial/residential location. There’s some street parking and plenty more in a brewery-owned lot on the east end of the block on which they’re located. There’s a large indoor eating and drinking area that has a bar overlooking the brewing operation, a small merchandise shop with carryout refrigerated beer choices, and a very large outdoor patio on the west end of the block. Orders are taken either via cellphone (and drink orders show up very quickly) or via waitstaff. There are nice flight suggestions and build-your-own flights from among the 20-or-so tap choices. Friendly staff, good food and well-done lagers (their specialty). Be wary of their schedule (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays the month we visited.)“

“Event at beer garden. Didn’t go into brewery but the garden is nice and they hosted well. Decent brews. Friendly forks. Building being painted looks cool. I’ll be back.“

“Swung by to pick up hot new Polotmavy brewery only release. Large building right now to go only. Opening game bigger and better beer garden next month. Springdale barrel room on one side and Jacks Abby beer hall on other. Very friendly and so reasonably priced. Food menu looks good as well. 6 miles from my house will be back many times. Have stopped back. New designed space and it’s nice. Still too many standards always on tap and have yet to have food. Friendly and affordable.“

“Excellent craft brewery with a solid Kolsch and a nice range of styles other than NEIPA. Great servers. It gets super-busy but the staff are very attentive. One of the best spots in the area and so close to Springdale. Hopefully I'll be able to visit again.“

“Great prices. Amazing beer range. They don't just cover IPL. Lots of crazing BA projects. Had a lovely tour of the barrel room. The Springdale facility is the perfect place to hang out on a long afternoon with retro video games. Amazing pizza from a Czech copper brewing kettle. Super nice staff. Will visit again when I go to Waltham next.“

“Visit Date: 8/4/2018 Huge brewpub, lots of seating. Good for big groups. Had mostly Jack's Abby / Springdale beers I have seen in NYC, with a few I had not. Lots of cans and bottles to go as well. Definitely a worthy stop if you are anywhere near the area. “

“The brewpub for Jack's Abby and Springdale beer. Excellent, German-themed menu, with homemade, spent grain flatbreads. Beer is excellent, and often includes beer that you can't buy commercially. Inviting beerhall style. Service could be better, but mostly because they are stretched thin with volume.“

“Right in Framingham and with tons of parking - both on the street and in a massive parking lot. It’s a huge place with high ceilings and lots of high tables. 18 house beers on tap plus 6 from Springdale next door. 4 oz pours available on all beers for $2-2.25 on most of them, $3.50 for BA stuff. Beer quality is killer, especially for their lager-only focus, which is very cool. Service is fine and fairly speedy. If you’re in MA or nearby, you must make a stop here at some point.“

“Stopped in after a trip to Jack's Abby/Springdale, about 45-60 minutes before close. Almost didn't recognize it from the exterior, but the interior is still very much the same taproom layout from the original Jack's Abby location this used to be. Friendly staff. Good amount of drafts with around 8-12 taps, flights of four available. Cans available as well. Fair prices. Very solid spot especially if you're already in the area visiting Jack's Abby/Springdale.“

“Huge place, lots of merchandise available and good food. Good combo with Springdale Barrel Room. For beer travelers it is quite easy to do day trip from Boston here. Just ~40 by train from South Station and 10 minutes walk.“

“Huge place just next to Jack's Abby. Lots if interesting beers available. Samples 4oz and flights of four for tick hunters. Nitro cold brew tap for hipsters. They do have Cerbeerus 5000 and when I visited they had two barrels attached straight to taps. It's just great that you have two very good places just next to each other and their selection is totally different. Great place. They have lots of entertainment games so I assume this place could be noisy when packed up.“

“Nice, big, and clean are the first things that come to mind when first entering this place. There's sampling, food, and plenty of tables for everybody. Staff was very knowledgeable and courteous. This is actually just part of the company. Right next door is their sister company Springdale. Here they brew and sell lager based beers and everything else next door. Worth checking out if you're in the area.“

“Located in the warehouse before you get to Jack's Abby. It's on the 2nd floor which means stairs or the worlds slowest elevator. Whereas Jack's Abby feels fairly commercial, this place feels more comfortable. It's a loft space with a bar, a number of tables, pinball machines, and cornhole. This place feels much more like a hangout place. The beers are adventurous and encompass styles not available at Jack's Abby with the barrel aged stuff being the big winner. The bartender on duty was personable and made several great suggestions. I actually like this place way more than Jack's Abby.“

“Located in large industrial building with some street parking and a large lot a block away that they share with Springdale. Huge taproom with lots of tables and TV's as well as a square bar. They had 16-18 different beers on tap along with some of their Springdale offerings. Pretty reasonable prices give the area. If you love their beers, then this is probably a pantheon place for you.“

“Nice roomy taproom for Jack’s Abby’s side project brewery. Located in the same building as Jack’s Abby on the same side of the street, just walk to the opposite end of the entrance. Friendly bar service. Good variety of styles including hazy IPAs, sours, stouts, lagers, and more. No food but you can order pizza delivery from Jack’s Abby for a small fee, so just eat at Jack’s Abby before or after. Well worth a stop if you’re around the area or near Boston, no brainer paired with a stop to Jack’s Abby.“

“Amalgamated review from a number of visits. It’s an enormous well lit space, and full of probably 100+ people on a Sunday afternoon around 5. It’s a little more sparsely populated right after they open, but still a good crowd. Two dozen beers on tap, and everything offered in a sample pour for not too steep a price. Bustling, but service was quick and friendly. Pizza is ridiculously good, if not either smaller or more expensive than would be ideal, but ultimately well worth it. Super family friendly place, with loads of little kids around, parents out to dinner. With the addition of the Springdale brewery next door, they also generally have a few Springdale beers on as well. The beer list features a good amount of variety, and generally has a couple of rarer BA treatments of their Framinghammer series, some lovely light crisp lagers, and a wide variety in between. Full pours of most things are available, but with the breadth of the list I usually end up going with a smattering of sampler sized pours, which are available for a couple of bucks at the most. Usually easy to try a significant number of things while here. Service is great as well. “

“Had been coming to this location for a few years when it was owned by Jack’s Abby and was happy to hear that it would live on with another brewer. Small tasting room which has about 5 brews on tap for tasting and, happy to report, all the beer is quality here. This place is The Cat’s Meow.“

“This place is the real deal and one of the finest craft breweries today. Their location on Clinton St (which they moved to from a smaller location that only had a tasting room) is huge. It reminds me of the beer halls in Munich. The food menu is small but it is quality. The pizzas are cooked in a brick oven. The beer, as most people already know, is phenomenal and they usually have several versions of my favorite Framinghammer available. As I write this they have recently opened "Springdale" upstairs which offers several varieties of ales and many sours.“

“A cavernous space with a great selection of house beers -- most of which were exceptional. Fights of four made it easy to sample quite a few. We did not try the food but scored a couple of hard to find barrel aged Framing Hammers.“

“Visited around 2:30 pm on a Thursday. There is a parking lot for it close by, but it’s a 100 yards or so away. Big warehouse type setting with the merchandise in the entryway, long bierhall tables, and a horseshoe bar in the middle of it all. Also, there is some outdoor seating. Service here was great. Kept up with us without being bothersome. I had a couple flights and the wife and I split a pizza, beer cheese pretzels, and german potato salad. All was very good. This place is awesome, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Boston, though it is a bit of a drive out of town. Well worth it.“

“The new Beer Hall is amazing. Great big space with a lot of character. Wonderful atmosphere and good service, even when it’s busy. Of course, Jack’s Abby always turns out a great selection of lagers. The food is interesting and tasty. This should be a "must see" on any beer tourist’s visit to Massachusetts.“

“I’ve been a big fan of Jack’s Abby’s craft lagers for a 2-3 years now. I’ve not found another brewery solely dedicated to craft lagers. As the style catches on you will find more breweries with one or two at a time...but Jack’s is special...they were one of the first to be dedicated to the style (if not the first) and have expanded the style considerably. I visited here this past weekend after going to Trillium first in Boston. We loved the place and very much enjoyed the food (good prices for hearty fare...including pretty good pizza...although I found it’s better when you ask for it well done). The beers did not disappoint. I ended up having 4 flights (shared a few but mostly I drank them). I loved the hoppy lagers the best...as well as some of the fruit flavored styles. I finished up with a number of the large varieties of porters (Grand Marnier, PB&J, espresso, bourbon, etc.). highly recommend a visit to Jack’s Abby...especially if you’ve not yet had the chance to sample many craft lagers.“

New Clinton Street location review. Visited 4/21/2015. Not sure why this wasn’t made a separate entry with the new place and address, older reviews aren’t really relevant for the new location. Anyways, Jack’s Abby’s new location is a nice step up over their original location. Parking lot has more spaces and I believe there’s another lot around the corner. Step inside and you’re greeted by the merchandise and beers to-go counter with cans, bottles, and growler fills. To the right is a spacious area with picnic table style tables/benches and a U-shaped bar for ordering beers and food. Service was very friendly. Very nice selection of house beers with year round, seasonal, and brewery exclusives. Came at a good time as they had a bunch of barrel aged Framinghammer variants on tap. Same deal with flights as their old location, fill out the flight sheet with any four draft selections. You can add any beers that say no flights, they’ll just give you whatever size it says for the sample pour like 2 oz instead of the usual 4 oz. Solid food menu with appetizers/soups, wood fired pizzas, sandwiches, and various entrees. Had the seafood chowder and a pizza, both were very tasty. Had a bite of a friend’s dessert, the dark chocolate banana bread pudding with some espresso ice cream, that was fantastic. Prices are reasonable all around. Maybe a bit pricey on food portions but not out of the ordinary for the quality and area. New location is a definite winner, definitely a must stop if you’re near the area. It was well worth the half hour drive from Boston, even more than the old location.

Original Morton Street location review from 3/5/2015. Nice brewery with a small tasting room as you walk in. 12 drafts and a cask available on draft during my visit. Good variety with a few uncommon selections. Friendly staff. Bottles available to go and they do split up 12 oz singles from packs too. Affordable flights at around $6 for four 4 oz pours. Well worth a stop if you have a car and are in the Boston area.“

“I visited this brewery/restaurant for lunch today. This place was like a German beer hall with long tables and benches all pushed together. It made for a fun atmosphere. There was also a large bar you could sit at. The place was pretty full but was roomy enough that it didn’t feel packed. The beer selection was decent with a good variety of Jack’s Abby brews on tap. They had flights of 4 samples which was a handy way to try things. I had the bratwurst sandwich and a pretzel. The sandwich was a little disappointing. The bratwurst was good but as a sandwich it didn’t work. I sampled a piece of pizza which was very good. Some of the other dishes looked like a better choice. I’ll have to go back and try more. The prices were reasonable but the portions were smaller than I would have liked, though my waistline probably appreciates that. The service was fine. Overall, this was a nice place. I plan to return in the future.“

“Visited on 03-16-16. Walking in we were greeted and told to grab a seat anywhere. Really wide open space, table and bench seating so you aren’t crammed in somewhere, wood oven for pizzas, and a big bar with tons of taps. We walked to the bar and ordered drinks and started a tab and then grabbed a table. Took a bit for a waitress, but it was busy so it’s understandable. Selection was great with quite a lot of taps and pub food choices. Food was great! If you’re there with a couple others like me, and want pizza, I suggest you order two or three. They’re on the smaller side, but really tasty. Value was pretty good and nothing seemed overly priced to me. Overall I was very impressed and would love to go back if I’m in the area.“

“A brewery with a small tasting room and shop attached to it. Opening hours are limited (although I think they’ve been extended, as have the premises, since we were there) but it’s well worth seeking out. We were given a brief but interesting impromptu tour by the owner, Jack, who’s wife is called Abby. There were three year round brews and four seasonals on offer and it was a bit of an eye opener for me as technically they’re all lagers yet the range of flavours was exceptional. (Visited 10 November 2012).“

“We visited Jack’s Abby at opening time (midday) on a Friday. As with most good breweries it is located on a slightly dodgy industrial estate in a warehouse. The tap room is actually pretty small inside, but well appointed. We grabbed a seat at the bar shortly before the place started to fill up. The server was friendly and attentive. They had 12 beers on tap and offer flights of 4 samples for a very reasonable price. Beer was super fresh and rather tasty overall. They offer growler fills on the tapped stuff, as well as bottles (including a few more limited releases). We took away a bottle of their boosty baby maker lager wine. A very nice tap room all in all.“

“Huge German beerhall like place, with loads of benches and a big long bar. I had the ghoulash, which was great with the kind of lagers they serve. On that note, the lager focus tended to get a little old at the brewpub. I’ve had some of their beers before in tastings and they’ve been mostly good, but it seems like most of the stuff in house is a lot more average. But overall a good place and worth the train ride out from town. Friendly service at least.“

“Visited on a Wednesday evening. Restaurant/bar annexed to the extremely large commercial brewery. Decent atmosphere, not super cozy but nice friendly place. Service was top notch from the moment I was greeted walking in the door all the way through to my post dinner purchases afterwards, fast, knowledgeable, kind and responsive. The selection was really good, tons of very tasty beers on tap, such a great selection of hoppy lagers. The food was healthy and very flavorful, I had the grilled salmon, it was quite good. All the beers are available in sample, half or full size (except the very strong ones) which is really nice. I opted for a couple of flights. Better than I expected, definitely worth a journey to Framingham.“

“Great staff in a small tasting room. They are about to expand and I’m wondering what is planned for the building they are currently using. After a few visits now, It is clear I will return again even with the hour and 25 minute drive. Plenty of bottles for sale with a few exclusive draft only taps. If your in the area give it a look for sure.“

“This is a cool taproom to come sample the excellent Jack’s Abby brews fresh from the source. There was well over a dozen beers pouring that could be purchased as tasters or full pours. There was also cask variants too. It was bustlin’ in here but not over crowded and I didn’t have to wait at all to get served. Everyone was chilled and happy to chat away about good beer. Definitely make time to check it out.“

“Love this place. Went there with my daughter, while visiting her in Boston. Great tasting room. Dog friendly a plus! Selection on tap and in bottles was awesome. Was lucky enough to be there during the Framinghammer barrel age season. The Vanilla is one of the best BA beers I’ve had this year, and the regular and coffee were a close second. Bought 6 bottles to go, and at $8 - $12 for larger format, which I felt was a steal for this quality of beer and since most of them were barrel aged. I would buy three of Jack’s barrel aged porters over one bottle of Fifty-Fifty Eclipse. Really excited since I saw the Beer Store in Malvern will now be carrying Jack’s Abby. Malvern is only an hour away from my home in Delaware, so when I can’t make it to Boston (Framingham) I can still pick up a 4/6 pack of Framininghammer, Mass Rising or Smoke & Dagger.“

“Stopped in real quick to pickup bottles. Excellent prices. Warehouse style outside, industrial complex with other business. The tasting room walls are decorated with painted graphics illustrating the story of making beer. Great service. We traded a few beers I had from Carton Brewing from Atlantic Highlands, NJ. Flights, samples, half pints glasses, and shirts available. If you are in the area this is a priority to stop at.“

“Rocking place. Quite astonishing selection of their beers, much more than was reported here at the time. 13 or more beers on tap, most of those in bottle too, plus more. Good prices on tasting flights and pints. Got really crowded on a Saturday, so I would definitely try to go on a weekday next time. Did not have time ot take a tour, just drank their awesome lagers.“

“First of all, you have to love a brewery that actually updates their website frequently with an accurate draft list and available bottle list. Their doing so, made it an easy decision for me to drive the 30 miles from Logan instead of staying in Boston on a short lay over because they actually give a shit about reporting accurate info vs the vs craft brewer mentality that all my beer is good, its a secret what is on. Not sure why its so hard for others to care. The space is small with about 5 seats at the bar and some barrels to congregate around. The breweries founding story is on the wall, its not only informational but entertaining, like how they came up with the "misspelled" name. The ceiling is tin panels, cool reflections abound. 12 available drafts that come as 4 oz pouts, 4 4oz flights or full pours, in addition to roughly 10 bottles to go that can’t be drank there. All lagers, but the selection is quite varied. The Mass Rising and Hopstitution on draft are stellar, even though we need to dispel the myth Jack’s Abby created the IPL. The bottles to go were baller with 5 Framminghammer variants, plus Mass bottles, another ba beer and a sour. Service could use a slight upgrade. 1 guy was super friendly and talkative, the other acted as if everything was an effort. Dude its beer, lighten up. I’ve had some ups and downs with the previous bottles I’ve had so I didn’t have big expectations on the offerings. All 12 beers were not only drinkable, but most were stellar. There was a good 4 incredible beers. This place doesn’t seem to get much pub being a bit out of the way but I’d for sure head here, especially if you are heading out to Worcester, which I unfortunately didn’t have enough time for.“

“So happy I stopped into Jack’s Abby - so chill. Beers are excellent. I tried a dozen and all were very good (the smoked beer is the exception, but I just don’t like that style!). Tasting pours ranged from $1.50 for most up to $3 for their more limited things. Guys behind the bar were nice and knowledgable. Only a few seats up at the bar, but lots of space for folks to hang out. Window into part of their brewery. Really like that these guys are working to perfect the art of craft lagering - their adventurous take on many of the other styles was also appreciated. Would certainly come back - hopefully I will get a chance to stop by again when visiting the area!“

“Nice little tasting room and retail setup. A bit of a mix between people hanging out drinking pints and customers just stopping by for bottles and growlers to go. The brewery looks a bit bigger than I expected given their footprint in the market. The location/space is definitely on the side of production brewery in a random location, rather than built to be a bar they expect people to hang out at regularly. It’s not an exceptionally easy place to just drop by. I was hoping that being in Framingham, which is right on the Pike and Route 9, this place would be easier to get to, but it’s a good ways off the highways. I’m not sure why people are worrying about safety here, though, the neighborhood is suburban and unexceptional. Service was helpful and friendly, and the beers speak for themselves. Definitely one of the gems of the Boston beer scene, but a bit of a hidden gem.“

“Ambiance...well it’s in an industrial park of a Boston suburb. Not much to see here. I didn’t feel my life was in danger at any point, so that’s a plus. The employees are friendly and knowledgeable. There are free samples, and they are all fantastic lagers. This is a great brewery and the beers are very unique. Come straight to the source, it’s so much better fresh than in bottles. “Visited in November 2012. Basic tasting set up with free samples of about half a dozen beers on tap. Not really a tap room as such. Limited hours. Bottles & growlers to go. Great beers, all made as "lagers" although many don’t really seem that way. Got an impromptu tour of the brewery. Plenty of people and a lively buzz when we visited. The 2012 batch of Kiwi Rising had just been released so I don’t know whether that was responsible for the lively attendance. Picked up a couple of bottles although most stuff we had seen elsewhere already.“
