“New brewery in an old bottleshop location. Big bar with lots of outdoor seating. Good food, great service. They only had four of their own beers on tap, and they were not great. But the potential is there. Had a lot of guest beers. Nice place to visit. Lively bar.“

“Stopped in on a Saturady afternoon to catch the end of the Pitt basketball game. 30 selections on tap (micros, macros and imported), decent import and micro bottles list to choose from. Good food. Located in a strip mall, plenty of parking. The bar was filled as well as the dining tables. A place that I would stop when in the area.“

“Way better selection than a regular old restaurant or bar, but mostly run of the mill crafts on tap. Nothing special, no rare seasonals. The ambiance is a crowded, poorly laid out bar. It’s tough to navigate thanks to the huge bar that was crafted without regard to the bottle coolers lining the far wall, bathrooms, or any general movement. The wait staff are all young hot girls, but they don’t seem to know an IPA from a stout.“

“An excellent place of beer selections for domestic, micros and imports. Prices were average. Service was excellent. The wings were good, however, we ordered the pizza (recommended), and there was very little or hardly any cheese on it. I know when restaurant managers and owners need to cut costs; here is an area where they cut. We asked the couple next to us and they told us that is the exact reason they no longer eat pizza at this place. When an established is known for a product....Don’t skimp on it! I would probably go back to drink, just don’t order the pizza!“

“I dint expect much for this suggestion because I was dissapointed after the last place I selected from this site for this area but this place is worth it. I observed 3 medium large serving areas;, 2 for beer, 1 for food and beer. $4 for a small mug of full pint beer, a local specialty. Parking is 25 cents for 15 minutes. Nice eye candy for barmaids. Lots of taps of good off macro beer. Even with 2000 beers under my belt I easily found beer I hadn’t rated yet. 3 big coolers of slightly expensive beer to make a mixed 6 pack. Tho high in price at least the prices are lsited for each beer so theres no price shock at the register. Overall OK oasis. Oh yea, they had over six large flat screens in one of the rooms and the news about the yankee’s owner was on.“

“I have visited the Bottle Shoppe on several occasions, and have yet to be disappointed. It sits in a strip mall off a main drag in the western portion of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, relatively close to the airport. It is fairly nondescript from the outside, but modern, newly refurbished, and fairly well-organized inside; although it smacks of new money sprawl development. The tap selection is a fair mix of macro-brews, introductory craft brews (i.e., Magic Hat), better craft beers (i.e., Stone and Dogfish Head), and macro-imports (i.e., Stella Artois). The bottle selection is where the place shines. A wide variety of U.S. craft stuff from across the country, including some harder-to-find and more esoteric selections. Prices are reasonable, and good if you are there during happy hour, where everything is discounted by a $1. The food is generally moderate to good quality pub food, with an recommendation going to their burgers and pizzas. The owner is very friendly, and took time to talk and buy a drink for several customers the most recent time I was there. The waitstaff is attentive, if relatively ignorant on the subject of better beer. They are advertised as being attractive, and generally are fairly so, if relatively trashy and relatively unintelligent ladies are your bag. Overall, this is probably one of the better family-friendly beer places in the Pittsburgh metro-area. Nicely executed.“

“Tuck in a new yet partly vacant strip. The bar is open with outdoor seating on the strip sidewalk. This is my first visit and after sitting there for a little time, I did not like the openness. I was there for lunch and it did get abuzz rather quickly with corporate blackberry swinging warriors. My first tap selection was not available. You have little pieces of paper with the draft list. Update and print a new list. The waitress was all over me to order and even wanted to take my plate away when I put my fork down to type this. I guess they are geared for the "man on the run". The menu is littered with photos of local celebs. Why would that be needed if they were of good sound business and quality. I had a Rueben sandwich and it had plenty of corned beef but it lost the other ingredients somewhere in assembly. It was very challenging to get a clear explanation on 6 packs to go and how it works, or how it doesn’t work for them. I do give props to the beer coolers for being organized and labeled with prices. The prices seem to be some of the more reasonable in the area.“

“Located in a strip mall just down hill from an ultra high class golf community, open ceilings, loud (often horrible) music and lots of yuppies. It’s also 3 minutes from my house (which is pretty much in the ghetto), so I really want to like this place, REALLY. Honestly, I’ve been there abut ten times since they opened (summer 2005?) and only once have I had a positive service experience. Their calling seems to be hiring former Miss Pennsylvania contestants to tend bar. Maybe it’s because I don’t drive a benz and tout my ping clubs, but I can never get waited on in this place, it’s a damn shame because they really do have a nice selection and their prices are about the cheapest you’ll find in the area ($6 for 22oz ST Oat?!). I’ll keep trying, hopefully one of these years I can get good service.“

“UPDATE* The selection of beers has gone down in quality recently with the expansion of the bar. They have lost alot of their craft offerings and now have many flavorings of domestics, IE 7 flavors of Leinenkugels, you can still find some good ones if you look hard but I would only go here to watch a game or look at the broads...its cheaper than a strip club with the same atmosphere. Best selection of beer in the south hills besides maybe barleys and hops but it is usually very busy. Read cheapdark’s description, it is right on the money.“

“Went in on a trip to the bank during lunch to check it out as I never knew where it was. For a restaurant , great beer selection but VERY expensive for 12oz bottles. Oddly enough the bigger bottles were probably cheaper than anywhere around here. I hate to harp on the waitresses, but wow..the one I did see was (as I like to call it) "dressing for tips". Didn’t try the food but heard it was very good. Will go back and eat one day.“

“Not quite what I expected. This place was crowded and they had a pretty small bar.. It was difficult to view the bottled available beers because of the coolers proximity to the crowded bar. It really was not small, it just seemed that way due to the crowd. They did not have a tap menu available and I had to strain to see what was on tap. The girls were very friendly and youthfully attractive. tho very busy. I guess the girls are what brings in so many dudes. Eye candy. A bar full of younger and middle aged Pittsburghers. If you like action and excitement with crowds, check this place out. I stopped in during lunchtime on a Friday, perhaps that is why it was so busy. Busy means it is a good place to hang with yer buds. Most every table and bar spot was occupied. Though they had many taps I opted for a bottled brew since I already tasted everything that was on tap. They have a special discount every day for a certain bottle beer. Unless the bottle is on special, the bottled beer is a little pricey.“

“Fun place with a great selection of beer on tap, they have added taps and now have 20 . The overall feel of the bottle shop is open and airy with the best looking staff in the burgh. Usally have 5 or 6 unique drafts that make it worth the trip....“

“If you’re looking for a loud college bar, this isn’t it. If you’re looking for a nice crowd, a relaxed approach and attentive staff (not to mention attractive too), this is it! A large selection of bottles to choose from. Not in a high traffic location at night.“
