Local Tap (Bar)
527 SOUTH BROAD ST.
“I like the idea behind this - all beers locally brewed. Flights available. Stopped by early on a Saturday and had the place to ourselves. Decent amount of taps, but what I expected none really stood out or were great. They have snacking food or you can order BBQ to be delivered. This place is close - I will monitor their beer list and stop by if anything interesting rotates on.“

“How have I not rated this place yet ... beers are acceptable if not outstanding with a one standing out once in a while. Now they have competition in town, lets see what they do. Food is better than Well Crafted across the street and service is usually OK.“

“Decent little local brewpub. I got to try a few of their beers, which are available at reasonable prices. They have cans for sale along with drafts at the bar. The service was a little slow, but very helpful. The surroundings are a little drab, but these round guys get the job done.“

“Nice place inside. Service was quick and responsive. Ordered and appetizer that was pretty good. Beers were all good. Nothing outstanding, but nothing really negative.“

“Another brew pub within 10 min from me! Surprised at how nice it looked when I walked down into it ... bigger space that I would not have guessed. Average beers ... will go back after they've been open for a while. I did not order food, but someone I was with ordered the Vegetarian taco. He said it was like a store bought tortilla and when he picked it up , it was soggy and everything fell through ... not good.“

“Interesting/shoddy location in the middle of a bunch of shops. There’s a small bottle shop in the front with a few interesting bottles for purchase. The bar is large so plenty of seating. Again, some interesting beers on tap including two sours. Food was hearty - had the spicy chilli wings which were pretty good. Bartenders were fine. Definitely a locals pub but with a good enough selection to entice the beer geek. Worth a stop when passing through the area.“

“Many of the other places in the area were closed on easter Sunday, but this place was open til 2. Small bottle shop inside the front entrance had some interesting choices, including Cascade, Lost Abbey and a new Trois Dames. The bar itself is a large U-shaped bar that fills virtually the while space, except for one pool table and a handful of restaurant tables. Draft choices were solid and included a lambic, a berliner and a new Struise, although it tasted like the Struise had been on for a while. Service was efficient, quick and friendly. Snacks were decent, but they also had a full dinner menu. Lots of TVs for sports and movies. Well worth the trip.“

“Great place. Been going here for several years now. Hard to believe I never put in a rating Never had a beer I don’t like here. Food is pretty solid as well. Service can be sketchy either great or really slow. Overall, a solid place to visit.“

“Nice place! Dogs are great (only recommendation would be on the buns - gourmet the buns and I would be here a few times a week!). Looking forward to going back and trying the different kinds of gourmet hot dogs. Hundreds of beers / singles (dropped a bit of $ on beers I do not have, which for me, is a rarity!). Nice tap list that seems to rotate regularly. How this place is only 5 min from me and opened since Oct., and this was my 1st visit is beyond me - will be back!“

“Sad sight to behold. The place looks like an elementary school or a bathroom fixture showroom from the outside. Fairly clear to me that this was the whim of some fairly uncreative people, both in design and in quality of their products/food. I really do get simple and basic, but shit man, there’s just no excuse for canned food anymore, and if you can’t make a little bit of an effort, don’t open a business that requires food-service in order to qualify for an operating license. Tired of people phoning it in and taking shortcuts. Beer is mostly sub par, some selections were enjoyable. Atmosphere is unmemorable, just like most things about this place. Everyone wanted to do their best, but their best is not anywhere near good enough, and as nice as they were, this place simply reeks of sad fat men.“

“Located in a strip mall next to a CVS and a PA State store. Blue Dog has a large beer list and a small bottle shop included. Draft list constantly changing with many seasonal and one off beers in the rotation. I go for a business lunch, food is decent pub fare. Enough HDTV’s in the place that one would consider it a Sports Bar. Waitress service is good, but I’ll agree with other raters the help are not too beer savvy. That should’t bother the beer geeks.“

“Typical sports bar on Broad Street across from the Lansdale Borough building. Lots of TVs pumping sports all the time. Not really a tremendous selection, but around 6 craft taps and maybe 2 dozen bottles, mostly local stuff, and around 10 different craft beers available for takeout. Mostly a BMC sort of crowd, mainly older people and a lot of locals/regulars. I went over the weekend and they had Stone IPA, Evolution Lot #3, Victory Headwaters, and I think a couple others. Everything is very cheap. The Stone was $5 and the Evo and Victory were $4.50, Yuenglings are only $3. Bartenders were very nice and attentive, and even gave us samples of the Evolution without asking when we got Stone IPAs. All in all it’s a great place to watch a game over a beer or three. Not gonna win any awards but it’s good to know there are some options in Lansdale.“

“The tasting room for Round Guys. Long bar with a few taps an a keezer, which is awesome. I stopped in shortly after they opened so it was pretty bare with no A/C but I’m told that is being corrected. They also can’t serve pints till their license goes through, which they said was any day now. Still, I was able to sample their beers and had I remembered a growler, I would have gotten it filled. They bar faces right into the brewing room and all activity is viewable through the big windows behind the bar. They were brewing a batch when I stopped by and could smell it when I got off the train. A great welcome to Lansdale. I’m looking forward to going back when they can serve pints. Nice place.“

“Didn’t have the food yet, so I will add food info at that time. Found this place by accident, and the bottle selection was outstanding, and the prices were great. A lot of stuff exists here that you won’t see very many other places. Great service, and a quaint bar atmosphere inside. Update 17-Apr-2012. Had the food multiple times, and it is excellent across the board. Service has been great, too. This is a top notch establishment.“

“Went here at lunchtime. Decent selection, with a good amount of locals and craft stuff. Prices are comparable to other distributors, but they have occasional great sales. For example, some Victory beers are now $27.99 a case, which is a great price. The only downer was the fact that they don’t accept American Express.“

“I’ve been to this place a few times before and I was there again this morning. The bartender “John” was very knowledgeable about all the beers on tap along with their extensive take out selection. I spent over $100 on take out beer due to his recommendations including my purchase of the Weyerbacher Rapture’s which he recommended and I must say was amazing. This seems like the place that I have been looking for to grow some roots. I live about 10 miles away, but it is well worth the drive to have a selection like they do and to have the staff that knows what they are talking about.“

“Nice selection of beers, both on draft and in the bottle shop. On some items they have good prices compared to some other peers. Not that many tables though and the staff was not very energetic about their beer.“

“Love this place. Service was good. Crowd was "mature" but got younger as the night went on. They have great specials and solid prices all around. Bottle shop has a great selection and the prices are much, much cheaper than other area shops (i.e. Capone’s). Dock some points for the beer being a little too cold and undercarbonated, but other than that a great local spot.“

“Nice place in a sort of odd location. Nice bottle shop. Its small but there are some good beers to be had. They are very good about seasonal beers. Food is standard pub food. Service is okay and in all honesty its just a bar with good beer. TVs and sports are on and it feels pretty standard. They do events. I’ve never been but would like to.“

“This is the Blue Dog’s first location (the second being the Tavern in Chalfont). It’s a dimly-limit, smokey, dive-sports-bar atmosphere. The service is inconsistent. They have a couple of bar tenders that are very good, and a bunch of others that are awful. The owner, Chris, and the manager are very enthusiastic about beer, and they keep a rather good selection of bottled beers for takeout that rotates frequently. The tap selection is hit-or-miss. Sometimes it’s very good, and other times just average. In all, I would say this location has the better beer selection. The food is only okay. However, they do have a couple of stand-out items on the menu. The tuna bites are good, and their vegetarian dishes are always good. Overall, it’s the beer selection that makes the place worth visiting. They do have a beer tasting the first Friday of every month. You get a free promo glass if you buy one of the featured beers, which are usually $2 a pint.“

“This is located at the end of strip center and is easy to miss. As soon as you walk in, the carry out coolers are to the right. Selection was not as big as I was expecting, but they had some nice beer. Lost Abbey, Dieu De Cel, DFH, and regional beers. Inside is a dimly lit bar area with booth seating for dining. Tap selection was just ok when compared to the competition, and was a bit too loud and smoky for me to stay long.“

“A little different from their chalfont place. Some harder to find stuff: Avery Mephistopholes, St. Bernardus, Great Divides, Smuttynose Imperial, Three Floyds, Chimays, Chouffe’s, Southampton, Rows of Dogfish Heads. Drafts weren’t that special but I had a Fuller’s on Handpump which was nice. My cheesesteak was awesome and the staff was great.“

“I try to stop in here once a week since it’s just around the corner from my work. With the PA case laws this place is great since they have a number of coolers of just singles (American Craft, Belgian and other various imports). The food is pretty good too, your basic pub foods (burgers, wings, and various other sandwiches). They have some meals on the menu too.“

“People kept telling me to check this place out, especially since it is only 5 minutes away from me. As soon as you walk in there are about 4 or 5 coolers full of singles (big deal if you live in PA!). Nicer selection. I also hear that they rotate frequently - there might be something different a week later. They also fill Growlers and have a beer brewed by legacy specifically for them. Worth a stop if live around here.“
