“Decent space, a couple blocks from the other culpepper brewery. Quiet on a Sunday. A dozen beers, flights offered. Free peanuts is not common anymore. Service good. Beer ok. Dog hair everywhere. It's all hardwood, how hard is it to broom?“

“Third stop. Old building in DT. They have their own lot. Good service, 16 taps. Cheap flights (4/$8). Ok beer“

“The only place open in downtown Culpeper. Pretty small and tight with a makeshift patio in the parking lot. Business was steady and semed to be a local hangout. Mugs line the ceiling, so they have a lot of regulars. Pizzas are available and it was good. Beers reflected a wide variety of styles. I only had one and it was just passable. definitely worth a stop.“

“Dropped by on a sunny Saturday afternoon, mid-COVID. They've occupied a really old, beat-up building, but it's a decent space. Nobody was staying inside the cramped bar area (COVID), all instead choosing the tented parking lot out back. Only had one beer, which was OK, but unnoteworthy. The bartender was cute and friendly. I'd go back and try some more next time I'm in the area. Just a block away from Beer Hound which has a glitzier appeal. Brewery #906.“

“Visited on a sunny Saturday, midday, mid-COVID. It's a nicely done space, right in the heart of historic Culpeper. There's a nice outdoor patio and a semi-rustic indoor space, with college football broadcasting. I felt bad for the solo bartender trying to contend wiht a long line of COVID-spaced drinkers, especially when 4 people lined up to get a 9-beer sampler. That takes a few minutes! Had a couple pints, both were good. No real food here. 20 years ago, this would be a gem. Today, it's just one of many. Brewery #905.“

“Made a stop here this afternoon.Had no idea what to expect, but it popped up on my map of the area. Beer selection is straight back. I picked up 16 beers/ciders/mead I hadn't tried (note: currently at 5826 ratings), and I'd guess they probably have about 60-70 different beers/ciders/meads. Both ladies working there were very friendly and offered assistance if I needed it (I didn't). Worth a stop if you're in the area, but not worth planning a trip. I was surprised at how many I left with. Prices seemed on par with what I pay in Charlottesville.“

“Large tap/tasting room - nothing special. They have 10 on tap. I asked for half pours of all 10. They obliged with 8 (how their system works - 4 to a flight, charged me $10, which is the price for a flight of 4). Tips are cash only (thankfully I had a $5. Rare that I have any cash). No chit chat other than the pours and cash out, but it is busier than I’d imagined. Beers range from average to really damn good (Imperial Stout). Glad I stopped.“

“Small beer section, but they have their own brands so this is where you'd get them. No mix-and-match 6 packs available, but they have a handful of bombers as well as 6-packs and a couple of cases. No service whatsoever. Prices good.“

“Option B in Culpeper. Tad better than Option A.“

“Came here 2.10.2017. Nice small brewpub with a very visible brewhouse and an outside patio. Plenty of parking available. 14 beers on tap including 2 Radlers. I tasted the East Coast IPA, which was mediocre. Overall nice atmosphere and friendly service.“

“Friendly service - bartender (perhaps the brewer?) was glad to see someone that was a beer appreciator and not just drinking to get tanked. I asked for the flight glasses to be half-filled as I knew this was too much to consume with yet another spot and a trip ahead of me, and I got a discount, as well as a few that were not on the menu. Definitely a neighborhood type place. Unfortunately, the beer just didn’t stand out, and some of it was blah. I will make another trip somewhere down the line.“

“Just off one of the main drags in Culpeper, shares a large parking area with the railroad building and with Beer Hound on the far end, an easy short walk between them. Long bar and some restaurant tables. Tasty beers, friendly owner. They have bar snacks, plus a book from which you can order delivery from nearby restaurants.“

“Big and spacious. Lots of room to sit comfortably or stand if you’d like. Offerings were all decent, though not the most adventurous. Fun location and certainly worth checking out if you happen to be out that way or are going to check out multiple breweries in the area.“

“I went here back in the Winter. Nice small place, nice staff, cozy, and plenty of decent beers on draft. Place was probably a hair better than Beer Hound Brewery, but both are worth the trip out this way.“

“A truly great find in the heart of Culpeper. There is another more flash and large brewery just around the corner but this place is WAY better. It is a very small place but it certainly has a lot of character. It is just a one man shop as the owner is the brewer and bartender. He even has a day job, spending most nights and weekends crafting some great beer. The operation is in the back and is really cool to see. There is a mug club you can join to get a few more ounces of beer if you are a regular. Awesome beer as well, a dozen offerings when we stopped and they were all good, like really good. He was working on getting the second floor completed, should be done by now.“

“Looking at the website there is a large and varied list of beers so I was excited. The building is pretty new and when you walk in there are small benches and high tops all over the place. Really reminds me of a German beer hall. There is nothing fancy about this place but it certainly has character. Large patio outside which during fall and spring would be really nice to relax outside. Wide and varied selection of beer which was nice, even a root beer which I haven’t seen at to many other places. No food is offered but when we visited there was a BBQ food truck parked right out front and it seems they do this regularly. Prices are reasonable for the sample and pints but honestly I was not very impressed with the beer. I did the full flight, 7 available the day we went, and I didn’t care for any of them. The variety of beers offered is what I would call just core brands which nothing outstanding, different or any flag ships.“

“Small place, neighborhood bar type. Lots of locals here on a Thursday evening. Long bar and some tables. Early 90s alternative rock playing. Lots of taps. several beers and some shandy options, which are tap blends. Beers range in quality. Several enjoyable and I could see myself drinking in quantity, and a few that need to be dialed in. No food. The head brewer was running the bar by himself and did so admirably while remaining friendly and helpful. Nice stop, and being around the corner from Beer Hound is a nice bonus. Solid stop.“

“A good find in Culpepper. This is a modern space that works well in creating a nice ambiance around the bar. The beers need some work but they’re on the right track. Snack food can be ordered from outside establishments or pop down a few doors for some great home cooked BBQ. Busy with the local crowd and I’m sure will step up a gear come summer. Well worth a look.“

“Great space and great location, right across from the museum in the old railway station, so just a few steps from the main drag. Plenty of street parking, and a small gravel lot across the street. The interior is large, with a smallish bar tucked in on the left. Lots of chalkboards everywhere. Even the beers have improved - at least two of the golden ales we tried anyway. No food, but the family restaurant a few doors down has fantastic BBQ. Culpeper has always been a good stop if passing through on Route 29, and now even more so.“

“A fantastic upgrade from the weird strip mall location that this brewery previously had. The new tap room’s located right in the middle of downtown Culpeper next to the train station. The place is relatively spacious and comfortable. While it looks like Beer Hound will be expanding soon, they’re still working off their old kit. Recipes and beer quality remain the same (so-so). Staff were friendly. No food, but people seemed to be welcome to bring their own or order delivery. Overall, a nice pit stop if you’re heading between DC and Charlottesville.“

“Finally got a chance to stop by the new place. This is not the first location, but it is the realization of a long journey of the brewer’s purchasing a business, learning to brew, creating a nanobrewery in the back of a homebrew shop and then opening a proper brewery. Currently brewing on the old system but expanding capacity a great deal next month. I had the oatmeal stout which, despite some issues pouring, was tasty. Small space, bright, with a decent amount of seating. I found parking to be easy. No food, but it looks like they work with a nearby restaurant. Staff was helpful if a little bit scattered. Overall a nice place and worth a stop if you’re going down US 29.“

“This is really a cheese shop with a small but interesting beer selection. Lots of local stuff. Prices are on the high side. Street parking. Easy walking distance from Amtrak. One knowledgeable beer guy. Everything you need for a proper tasting is here.“

“Right on the attractive main drag, about a block from the Amtrak station, which doubles as the Visitors Center, which doubles as a museum. Plenty of free street parking on a Friday morning. Beer choice is very small, but included GI Lolita for $22 as well as DC Brau. Handful of ciders whise cideries I was not planning to visit, so I picked up a couple of those. Very friendly service. You can mix and match four or six packs, but they didn’t have enough of a selection for me to fill either.“

“Located down the block from Frenchman’s Cellar. Large place, lots of wood, a little dark. Wine oriented place with a few sections of beer to one side. Odd selection, a little haphazard. Out of the way the did have some things like FW17 and BCBS that have long sold out elsewhere. The one person working was nice and a little overly helpful. All beers are priced as singles, and there appears to be no prices for a full pack, which makes it seem like you’re paying a single upcharge on every bottle in a 4 or 6 pack.“

“Located in beautiful downtown Culpeper. At first I walked into the Frenchman’s "Corner" which is right next door, but does not have any beers to go with the fabulous looking chocolates. Frenchman’s cellar, on the other hand, has a decently sized selection with a smattering of more common foreign beers, lots of local stuff and a decent mead and cider selection. Prices were a touch high. Growler fills are also very high, but they do flights and pints and they gave me a couple samples for free. Service was a tad bit standoffish but prettty good. Ambiance typical of a downtown boutique store... bright and open. Not worth going out of your way for, but decent if you find yourself in Culpeper.“

“Wine shop located less than a block from The Frenchman’s Cellar. There’s perhaps 40 bottles available. Plenty of local seasonals available. Proportionally massive amounts of pumpkin beer on offer. They were holding a free tasting of some of their pumpkin beers on my visit, a nice bonus. Service was quite friendly, if a touch sales-oriented. Prices were fine. Overall, not as complete a selection as Frenchman’s but worth a stop as it’s so close by.“

“The below review clearly isn’t spam, right? Anyway, the Cellar’s a nice little wine shop located in scenic downtown Culpeper. Excellent cheese selection. There’s also 8 taps available for pours or growler fills. The beer selection’s definitely a bit off-beat. The US stuff isn’t all that interesting, and I wasn’t impressed by the lack of local beer. The international stuff, however, is pretty cool. There were some legitimately arcane beers on offer from Italy and France. Prices weren’t too bad. Overall, come for the cheese. The beers are secondary.“

“This is a fabulous little shop in downtown Culpeper. The Cellar has just recently been added to the Frenchman’s Corner and is still expanding and refining its beer selection. Jeffrey Mitchel at the beer counter is personable and great to talk to about beers you’d like to try or like to see on the shelves!“
