“I don’t run out the door to go here but their events are great. Stout Week 2015 was way killer! I’ve had a friend say that whenever he comes they always have a Buffalo Wild Wings-quality taplist but that’s never been my experience. Pretty interior, nice, competent waitstaff and bartenders.“

“Very small beer selection. Can’t compare it to local places...I’ve only been here. But it’s beer selection is small.“

“Visited November 3, 2013.

First stop of the day, also probably the shortest stop of the day. This is a very compact Whole Foods. Getting into the parking lot isn’t easy if you’re coming from 101 and have to make an unprotected left across a busy street to get into it. The inside of the store is kind of claustrophobia-inducing with the narrow aisles, tall shelves, and shopping carts clogging up the whole thing. In the back you’ll find the beer, which is about how it works in all Whole Foods Markets. This one was a bit surprising in that they have a good sized banner above the fridge announcing the fact that they have 90+ point (Ratebeer) beers available. All the usuals are present: Chimay, Duvel, Dupont, Duchesse, Delirium, Gulden Draak, Lindemans, Spaten, Triple Karmeliet, and Unibroue. In addition to that I saw plenty of options from Epic, Deschutes, Anderson Valley, Ommegang, North Coast, Port, and Firestone. Not a bad selection at all, but not a very large selection. Prices were typically high but there are free cheese samples scattered around the area so you can pair real cheese with imaginary beer samples while looking like a tool and not buying anything.

I wouldn’t mind stopping in here occasionally if 1) the prices were better and 2) the parking lot were easier to access.“

“Fantastic BBQ and friendly service. Good draft list. Parking was available on side streets a couple of blocks down, no problem there. Will gladly return when in the area.“

“Visited October 14, 2013.

GRG1313 has been hyping this place for years and I just never find myself out this way so I haven’t been until now. Glad I did visit it though. They have a lot of taps, many of which are pretty good. The Pliny wasn’t quite as good as it usually is but the Drakes IPA was as were the samples of a few of the others that the bartender provided. I kind of wish I hadn’t skipped the food now but the plan was to stop in Hollywood on the way back home and hit Blue Palms for dinner. Next time, whenever that is. I didn’t look at the bottle list but I hear there are some neat things on there. Speaking of lists, the tap list is written on the wall opposite the bar, so you basically need to figure out what you want to order before sitting down, or be prepared to get up and look at the wall for your next round. Parking wasn’t too bad but this on a busy street so I could see it being an issue, as is crossing 4 lanes of traffic to get here.“

“Had the BBQ chicken/ribs combo with my first taste of Russian River Brewing Company’s Double IPA ’Plinty The Elder’. This is a great brew, well balanced and great tasting, and the combo of the food and beer was perfect! “

“Visited on a Sunday evening for dinner and a few beers. We received a friendly greeting from the waitress that only got better when she informed us that they had Pliny the Younger on tap!!! After a few glasses of that I was a happy man. They had 40ish taps of interesting Californian beers as well as a focus on Allagash on draft. The bottle selection was very interesting and included lots of Bruery sours, which I never saw anywhere else on my trip. The downside of the bottle list was of course the high price! Great cocktails. The food was delicious. We opted for Kobe beef donuts to start then fiery mahi mahi jerk tacos for the main. For me this is a world class beer restaurant. When I come back to LA, this will be top of my list for a return visit.“

“The food here is great. The beer selection is decent but rarely is there anything to flip your wig over. Some great staples though (Rasputin, Old Engine Oil, Ten Fidy). The ambiance is a good old fashioned bar with pictures on the walls. Not overly kitschy, but lots of personality. Where this bar falls short are in the finer selection of beer (as I said, nothing TOO interesting) and the service. The service isnt bad...all the time. It’s hit or miss. One night it might be amazing and another night, you’ll be lucky to place your order save getting it. I will reiterate, however, that the food is pretty good.“

“Doesn’t look like a beer geek hideaway from the outside. But inside, there is some really interesting stuff. Parking isn’t bad for this reason. Pete (owner), Jeff (Geoff?), and Grant are all incredibly nice and well-versed when it comes to beer. They know their stuff and are happy to make recommendations or just to chat. The selection is more diverse than it is vast. But it is really quite diverse with SEVERAL bottles of things that don’t even hit shelves in the nearby area (Cuvee de Tomme, Deliverance, Bitches’ Brew, Victory at Sea, Utopias, Pliny, etc). They are wonderful folks who work hard to provide a service for the beer geeks among us. Check them out.“

“Truth is it’s not all bad. The ambiance is OK. it’s a gutted house with a patio and pictures of dogs all over. Service is slow but I found it to be friendly. Selection of beer is not huge but decent quality. Food is definitely inconsistent. Overall, I might return if I was in the area again.“

“Stopped by for lunch. Great looking place. Street parking. Very knowledgeable, obviously beer geek bartender (his favorite beer is Supplication which they had on tap). Tap list is very good with some very local stuff (including some relatively rare beers such as BA Imperial Black Phoenix) and some good belgians and other non locals. Bottle selection appeared decent. They have a full bar (including Pappy 23 and a good selection of bourbons otherwise) with a very awesome looking cocktail list (bacon old fashioned anyone?). Food was great too. Really the only problems with this place are the prices. $15 for a sandwich and $10 for a glass of beer. Expensive even for LA. I will definitely be back (happy hour is 25% off beer), but I’d be back more often if it was more reasonably priced.“

“Been here several times with friends, and it’s an excellent place for that. It’s a converted house, the interior is all exposed beams with photos of folks’ dogs everywhere you look. It gets crowded and a bit noisy at times. Their pizzas are great, the beer selection offers something for almost everyone (Belgians and Americans mostly, including my beloved North Coast Old Rasputin RIS on tap!), and I’ve had Duvel Green here though they no longer offer it. The staff I’ve encountered have mostly been bored-looking chicas who aren’t around when you want them and know little about beer... but when you get your beer and grub, it’s magically all better.“

“The beer selection here is awesome, something for everyone, WONDERFUL, but even without that, I have three words for you: St. Louis ribs. Melt in your mouth. Trust me, I wouldn’t steer you wrong. Best beer restaurant in the Valley, and up there for L.A. as a whole.“

“The first time I went here I was simply searching for a good gourmet burger. I found so much more than that. Not only do they have great food, their beer selection is incredible. The bar tender was knowledgeable and the service was well within my limit of patience( it was slightly crowded). I try to go here one every month or so just to enjoy the beer and the atmosphere. One of my favorite restaurants without even including the amazing beer list.“

“Interesting place. Horrible looking exterior. Some parking. Good liquor store. Selection is interesting, a lot of stuff that does not sit of shelves any where else. Picked up some Parabola, Cuvee de Tomme and Budweiser Brewmasters Reserve (never seen this one before). They also apparently had some aged rarities in the back. Still had Utopias and Triple Bock. Its like they have a geek of a beer buyer, but no beer geeks visit this place. Kind of pricey.“

“Small selection - smaller than that of the Beverly Hills, Brentwood, and Westwood markets. Still not bad. Was able to get some decent lost abbey stuff here, along with some pretty good stouts. Still head for the westside if your in LA - better beer selection there.“

“As much money as they have in Sherman Oaks, you would assume that the beer is very well developed. Not so. So if you find yourself in Sherman Oaks for a night or two, you are either going to head south on the 405 to something good, or hit the old Whole Foods and hope for the best in your hotel room.“

“Wasn’t expecting this place to be on ratebeer. A bit smaller selection than the one in Brentwood, which I though was the smallest in LA. I couldn’t find anything new, but that doesn’t mean there wasn’t some good beer to be had. A decent amount of Unibroue there as well as NC Rasputin and the full Lindemans lineup including Cuvee Rene. None of the good SoCal locals. Parking Lot was very busy for 9PM on a Saturday.“

“Better selection than your average liquor store and you may find a rare bottle or two. When I was there they still had Stone 05.05.05 and Pizza Port SPF 45. However, not a top choice in the LA area.“
