COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We believe HopWired is the first bottled version of a true new world India Pale Ale made with NZ grown base malt and 100% truly unique NZ hops. We bet you’ll find nothing else like it on the shelves. Although the malty sweetness is there, this beer is all about the hops. Unlike an American I.P.A. which will mainly hit you with a grapefruity-citrus flavour and aroma, the unique NZ hops used in HopWired are more like a tropical punchbowl: Passion fruit, lime, oranges and Sauvignon Blanc to name but a few. A local Marlborough winemaker said it smelled like gooseberries... Gooseberries? Who has ever smelled a gooseberry?? Decide for yourself or just enjoy it without further complications. Cheers!

jbruner (9249) - Lakewood, California, USA - MAR 27, 2024
UPDATED: MAR 27, 2024 Pours a clear golden orange on tap with dense off-white foam that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of big citrus and grassy hop notes, hints of tropical fruit behind, caramel and pale malts balance with a light fruity yeast. Taste is moderately bitter from the hops, lightly sweet from the malt, clean and light for the abv. Old school style with new school hops, fun beer.

abstractic (198) - Bangkok, THAILAND - APR 14, 2022
UPDATED: APR 14, 2022 Pours in a clear crisp golden bronze color with a subtle white head that fades fairly quickly. Very old school.. Nice though, with notes of caramel malts, slightly vinous, woody, plum and a light oily mouth coating piney bitterness.

After.dawn (64) - Suwon, SOUTH KOREA - AUG 6, 2021

cmacklin (4281) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 3, 2020
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2020 500ml bottle. Pours a hazy copper-orange with a large, foamy, long lasting, off-white head that laces nicely. Sweet fruity aroma of caramel malt, mandarin, mango, peach, passion fruit, honeydew, orange, grapefruit and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of caramel malt, orange, grapefruit, mandarin, peach, mango, passion fruit, honeydew, pine needles and floral in a dry, bitter, spicy hop finish. Medium body with a sticky, oily texture and average carbonation. Delicious, very enjoyable.

flying_pig (3134) - IRELAND - JUN 13, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 13, 2020 33cl bottle from Beers of Europe (£3.99): A clear, warming looking amber with a 2cm, foamy white head that settles about half that with good lacing stuck to the sides too. The nose is a mix of pine hops, some floral notes, citrus & a background sticky sweetness with some mango & apricot coming through, it's not the strongest but it does at least seem quite fresh with a bitter finish. The taste is stronger with more of a dry bitterness & touches of warming alcohol on top of the grapefruit & pine hops with mango, apricot & juicy fruits following. It's lively with good carbonation & a dry finish with a bitter hop aftertaste; great stuff.

PITOPIETHO (1278) - POLAND - JUN 13, 2020
UPDATED: JUN 13, 2020 W aromacie karmelowe, chmielowe, lekko maślane, trawiaste. Świetna podbudowała słodowa z intensywną chmielowością. goryczka średnia do wysokiej.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2020 Many thanks for this amazing hoppy IPA to Jacek Wigier (wineofdreams@gmail.com). Ach ten NZ chmiel. Kiedy mialem doczynienia z chmielem NS, juz nie pamietam, ale mile wspomnienia wrocily, 70 IBU czuc konkretnie niczym benzyne podczas nalewania do baku paliwa na stacji benzynowej, odjechane niesamowicie, mozna pokusic sie o twierdzenie ze to Double IPA. piana spora, trwala, mglista bursztynowa barwa, posmak zywiczny, bardzo kwiatowy, lipa, rumianek, rozmarym, Super i faktycznie smakuje jak wino Outlook Bay Marlborough P.G.R. tyle ze plus zywiczny lupulinowy chmiel.

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2020 Slight haze showing bottle conditioning. 1 finger white head, good retention. HInts of pine, mango, orange on the nose which projected into the taste. Nice mouthfeel, well carbonated. One of my favourite biers.

thebionn (204) - - FEB 26, 2020
UPDATED: MAY 15, 2020 Pours dark amber, big head that dissipates quickly. Nose and flavour big on hop resin. Citrus undertones, maltier than expected. Hazy appearance, could pass for NEIPA. Check label, holy shit! 7.3%! Double IPA territory, but waaaay smoother than IIPAs. Very, very drinkable which makes it very, very dangerous! Approach with caution. Been looking forward to trying an 8 Wired for a while and not disappointed. Great stuff! 330ml bottle. Edit: working through a six pack, maybe the hoppiest beer I've ever had, other than an IIPA but they are more resinous, this is clean hops. Hints of toffee on bottle 3. Edit 2: very bitter hops. Not sure why I thought this was hazy though, it's definitely not.
