mountdad (958) - Mount Maunganui, NEW ZEALAND - APR 1, 2021UPDATED: APR 1, 2021 440ml can, which I kept after reading the reviews saying it would age well. BB was May 2019 & my can would I suspect have been much better if drunk before then. Pours a dense black with no real head. Aroma is dark malt & hints of liquorice. Medium body but the taste is not so flash. There is complexity but with some strange metallic nuances, a bit sweet hit, the oak is there but seems a bit mouldy & the high ABV seems a bit OTT. If it is around I will try another since what I have in my glass is a below average stout barely meriting a 2. My score reflect that my can was kept too long, so I have marked it up. Do not cellar this beer!
craigeroo (60) - - SEP 28, 2019UPDATED: OCT 6, 2019 Pours: very deep red with a short foamy brown head that dissipates quickly.
Nose: Malty with sweet notes, maybe some vanilla.
Carbonation: light
Flavour: Sweet copper and malt taste with hints of coffee grounds and chocolate. The ABV is well hidden.
KeefOz (3850) - TARRAGINDI, AUSTRALIA - SEP 10, 2019UPDATED: SEP 10, 2019 BB 06 Jul 2020. from a can poured an opaque black with 5mm of tan dense foam that retained very well and laced well. Aroma is sweet roasted malt with, every so often, hints of smoke; alcohol well hidden. Taste is initially lots of roasted grain followed by sweetness; maybe a bit of coffee; low bitterness; alcohol well hidden. Medium body. Smooth with a thin mouthfeel and a short finish.
Pyobon (2840) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - AUG 31, 2019UPDATED: AUG 31, 2019 (Can) Pours black with a small tan head. Great aroma - dark roast malt, coffee, nuts, maybe a hint of oak. Medium body with good carbonation. A nice balance of sweet and bitter. The bitterness is mainly dark roast malt and a burnt sugar dark toffee taste. There’s a surprising light candy sweetness in the background. Notes of coffee and red berries and maybe a hint of oak. Very drinkable.

jonno (2750) - WESTERN SAHARA - JAN 6, 2017This is awesome. A year old and it has developed nicely. Smokey, oaky, decadent. Just an amazing beer.
Skarecrow (1734) - North Shore, Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 17, 2016500ml can.
Black color with tan head.
Aroma is mainly roasted malt.
Flavor is complex - oaky, roasted malt, liquorice. Very full bodied and sweet in the middle with a dry finale. You certainly notice the ABV too but not in a bad way - it compliments the style and gives a warm finish.
beer-yum (3705) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - NOV 6, 2016Huge smokey aroma in an inky black pour. Big smokey malt body with a hint of preserved stonefruit and wood. Nicely complex - only lacking a little subtlety (which may come with age - if you could resist drinking it immediately).
