COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An English style robust Porter with huge malt notes from Chocolate and Black malt matched with a huge use of Crystal malt to lend ruby hues to the corners of the glass. This dark brew is then highly hopped with imported Northdown and First Gold hops to lend a subtle earthiness in character.

dark ruby, good tan head, funky chocolate flavor, well balanced with an unusual hop for a porter, long bitter finish, overwhelming black patent bitterness, this prohibition porter should continue to be prohibited

dry chocolate aroma, still a lot of bitterness, not so much of the astringent malt bitterness anymore but still too much bitterness for a porter,

Sampler at the source. A little thin body. Drinkable but a tad uninspired. A touch of chocolate and roasty malt near the end of the sip.

Tap at the brewery. Reddish dark brown with tan head. Sharp nose of malt, chocolate and vanilla. Very smooth palate with medium body. Cocoa and some red berries acid I think is contamination in this context.

Taps opaque dark chocolate with a thin beige head. Aroma features toasted malt, toffee and molasses notes. Flavor delivers molasses, roasted malt, toffee, and subtle chocolate notes for one tasty porter. Mouthfeel presents fair body and fizz. Bleep Prohibition, long live BEER!

FROTHINGSLOSH (15634) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 3, 2017
Sampled on draft the brewpub this beer poured a very dark brown color with a medium sized creamy tan head that left excellent lacing. The aroma was bitter with a coffee presence. The flavor was dry and bitter with notes of coffee, anise and dark fruit. Long finish. Medium bodied and smooth. ok.

Creamy, a tad swert, a nice flavor with some chocolate malt. A porter I’d have again.

On tap downtown. Mahogany brown with a thin tan head that left a nice film and spotty lace. Aromas of coffee, semisweet chocolate, roasted malt. Taste is similar, with a bit of smoke and dark fruit and bitterness in the finish. Medium-bodied, minimal carbonation, smooth mouthfeel and a dry finish.

Draught @ the brewpub, Downtown DC. Pours cloudy very dark brown with small off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and yeast, with roasty notes. Bitter, roasty flavour wih notes of malt and yeast and touches of coffee and hops. Estery and roasty aftertaste. Decent.

4 oz pour on draft at Capitol City Shirlington. Dark brownish black with light tan head. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, roast. Tastes of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasty notes. Medium body with a dry finish. Liked it.

altonbrownd (5922) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - MAY 14, 2016
On tap at downtown location. Dark brown body with no head. Nose is malty, chocolate. Taste is also of malts, chocolate, spices. Smoky. Creamy texture. For some reason my least favorite of the 5 beers. Not sure why but I just couldn’t take to this one.

3.3
Drjohnrock (1292) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 25, 2016
Draft sampler at the Capitol Hill location on July 11, 2009. Very dark, almost opaque color, aroma off dark roasted malt and coffee, nice flavor of coffee for the most part with a bit of a chemical taste marring things a little. Still, not a bad brew.
