COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Doctors once prescribed stout as a revitalising tonic, while brewers enhanced their potency with additional ingredients, like oysters, which had desirable properties of their own. The Three Boys Oyster Stout contains select malt and hops to produce a beer that is rich and complex. And, who knows, our addition of genuine Bluff oysters to this very special brew might be just what the doctor ordered.

mountdad (946) - Mount Maunganui, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 19, 2021
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2021 500ml bottle. Pours black with a huge tan head. Aroma is mild with a hint of seafood. The beer is light to medium bodied with a dark but light malt base, bitterness is medium & there are hints of coffee. Not as much oyster as I was hoping for, perhaps they need a super luxury version as I appreciate that oysters are expensive. The end result is not as distinctive as say the Emerson Clam Stout. Not a bad dry stout but not as good as I had hoped.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2021 Old rating from 17-01-16 - 500ml bottle, from Love Wine in Jersey. Abv is 6.5%. Pours a jet black colour with a beige foamy head. Aromas of roast & oysters. Tastes is of roasted chocolate, caramel & toffee with a underlying bitterness of oysters in the aftertaste. Overall not a beer I loved, and may not choose to have a second.
