UPDATED: FEB 18, 2024 On tap from the wooden barrel in the brewery. Hazy golden color, very similar to original one we know, with kinda not laggered enough feel, although it's not. Very good, but I prefer regular one.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2024 On tap from the wood in the brewery cellars during brewery tour, Pilsner Urquell, Pilzen, Saturday 20th January 2024. Pours golden with a white head, there is a some haze, looks gorgeous. The taste is fabulous, absolutely wonderful, fantastic mouthfeel, stunning bitterness, fresh, crisp, amazing, what a Pilsner, lovely lemon edge, the bitterness really runs and runs. Stunning beer.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2023 Degustacia v ramci prehliadky pivovaru. Kalna zlata farba, husta kremova pena, ktora drzala vecnost. Nadherna vyrazna chlebova vona. Vyvazena horkost, zlahka karamelova sladkost, clovek ma pocit ze zahryzol do cerstveho bochniku chleba. Hutne, silne telo s dlhym dojazdom horkosti. Pilsner z drevenych sudov prinasa vylepsenu verziu toho, co mi na klasickom exportnom PU ležiaku tak chuti, toto by som vedel pit stale.

UPDATED: MAR 11, 2024 A deep golden pour that looks slightly hazy and a bit translucent through light. Head looks soft/pillowy, shows good enough retention and very nice lacing. A great aroma that feels both vivid and soft, with a bready, slightly caramelly underlying feel followed by a beautiful grassy, slighlty peppery, delicately lemony/cedary hop profile. there's a light, soft feel underneath that might be associated with diacetyl though i'm not getting actual butter. Tatste notes as per aroma, the maltiness and sweetness are decently deep but there's a very vivid grassy bitterness that feels both assertive (per style) and delicate. Balance is slightly towards bitterness with a clean finish. That background softness can be found in the taste as well, with the slightest buttery note now maybe perceptible. Light to medium bodied, perhaps fuller than you would expect for the abv, with medium, fine bubbled, soft carbonation. Overall very easily drinkable but also quite fuller than a typical pilsner and nicely 'soft'. Wonderful. P.S. I'm wondering if fresh from the wood, unfiltered and unpasteurized is enough to explain the huge difference in terms of richness/depth between this and the standard urquell, or if this is a slightly modified recipe. I lean towards the modified recipe, this one has an assertive bitterness that the commercial one just hasn't.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2023 Vitt fast skum, lätt dimmig och ljus bärnstens färgad. Doft: Humle, mineraler, växter, lätt blommigt, honung, söt malt, svagt av vått trä. Smak: Blommig malt, växt beska, mineraler, trä. Klar bättre än den som finns att köpa.

I would have chosen this one again and a again Unclear golden in the glass and a fine thick head Good lacing also. Looks really fine and inviting Pleasant malty and some wort in the aroma Balanced fine sweetness and a mellow carbonation level Excellent mouth feeling The flavor is also really lovely and smooth. UPDATED: AUG 11, 2022 On tap on the brewery tour, pours a clear golden with a medium white head. Aroma brings out a wonderful spicy saaz hop character, with more earthiness and breadiness than the usual Urquell. Flavour is clean and spicy, with an earthy, oaky character, spicy hops, some grass, and crisp crackery malt. Yeah, this makes the tour worth it. This unfiltered version is really one of the best Czech pilsners out there. Delicious.
