COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We like to call this a Northwest Amber Lager, but it is often categorized as a Vienna style lager. The beer originally started out resembling a Steam Beer style beer, but we’ve slowly been dropping the fermentation temperature to the point where it’s really just a lager beer, and too smooth, to fit that category. The color looks like a Vienna style lager, but the amount and type of hops, and the grain bill are quite different. We use Magnum and Cascade hops in this beer, and they blend well with the American (51%), German (43%) and British (6%) malts we use. The beer features strong hop character, along with smooth malt, caramel, and toffee flavors and aromas, with a refreshing bite in the finish. This beer goes really well with pulled pork and brisket. UPDATED: MAR 31, 2021 16 oz. can. Amber body with an ample white head. Smells of pine, caramel, and toasted bread. Tastes of a nice grapefruit hop flavor, toasted malts, a touch of caramel, and a little bit of spice in the back end. Long grapefruit bitterness with some pine in there too. Medium body. Very drinkable but super flavorful. Excellent.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2020 Can from explosivedog: pours amber with off white head. Aroma is light caramel, biscuit, light hoppy notes. Taste is slightly sweet, a little bitter, hints of grass. Excellent body. Great with the brutally spicy Thai food I ate.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2020 16 oz. Aroma is caramel, lightly toasty. Pours lightly hazy copper with a small beige head that falls into a ring after a minute. Taste is lightly sweet with a nice significant herbal hop bitterness. Never thought I could be this impressed by an amber lager. Kudos.

Few breweries can match Heater Allen in producing excellent European style beers. This coastal common is an outstanding Vienna lager...and northwest fresh as can be. Love their (new?) 500 ml bottle. Caramel and bready malts...late background earthy hop notes. Mouthfeel just right for accomplishing the ultimate in refreshment. These guys are g o o d !caramel, bread, grass, leather, woody,

Bottle in Portland. Creamy foam on darker, rosy copper body. Fantastic Vienna, rich bitter and copper. Absolutely the Vienna I’ve always hoped would exist.. Takes the style and really elevates it. Dark fruit, astringent delicious malt. I adore this. Bitter, astringent finish.

(Bouteille provenant de chez Bottlecraft): Des malts forts, grillés et amplement sucrés avec un déluge de houblons terreux, boisés et déchiqueteurs. Ça devient rapidement difficile à boire.
