62 /100 Sir Samuel Romilly (JDW) (Bar) ROMILLY BUILDINGS Just a minutes or so walk and slightly down the hill from the first of Barry’s stations, this Wetherspoon pub is a conversion of an older period building used for several different commercial purposes with some of the cinema decor remaining from the time it was just that. It’s in a rugged looking part of town by the docks and is not as attractive looking as other conversions at first glance. Inside you’ll hardly notice the difference between many others in this chain with a very familiar and traditional pub design and furniture you associate with this brand of public house, and that also means you’re guaranteed a fairly decent real ale selection here that rotates. On the walls are rugby union shirts which nod to the sports popularity in this part of Wales and curiously a model of The Mallard train exists here too. |
