“We visited here Saturday 8th August 2020, we were staying at 7 Täler Campingplatz in Ottmaring and cycled here along the Donau Kanal cycle path. As mentioned in my review for Winkler, Berching really is a very pretty little town with it's city walls and wonderful historic buildings, however despite the glorious weather and it being in the middle of the holiday season it was surprisingly quiet, nowhere more so than this place. The review below really sums this place up well, it appears to be in a time warp it was like walking into a bar 50-60 years ago, the decor and furnishings were from that era as was the two people sat drinking who barely noticed me. It wasn't the most welcoming of places, the lady who was behind the bar (owner I think) didn't wear a facemask and had a face like a slapped arse, I asked for beer to take away and picked up three different beers. I guess this place suffers from not having a Biergarten or seating on the street, nonetheless it seemed a tired and sad place, let's hope the beer is good. Just before I left one of the men had a pager go off (retained fireman perhaps?) He had to leave his beer and rush out, shouting Scheisse as he left, I think he was the co-owner as he spoke with his wife (lady behind the bar)“

“We visited here Saturday 8th August 2020, we were staying at 7 Täler Campingplatz in Ottmaring and cycled here along the Donau Kanal cycle path. Firstly Berching is a very pretty little town with it's city walls and wonderful historic buildings. This place is pretty much in the centre and sits opposite a cake shop and café and a fruit and vegetable shop. We sat outside the weather was glorious and there was plenty of socially distanced seating. We spoke with someone who seemed like the owner, he was interested in what two English folk were doing here, he was a nice man and we had a pleasant discussion. We both had the Hefe-Weisse which was glorious and I had some Nuremberger sausages with potato salad and mustard, Loz had a cheese plate (Emmenthal?) with salad and Gherkins. I went inside, it had a modern interior, very smart and looked great. I really liked this place, the young gentleman serving us was super friendly, it was a great place to stop.“

“Off the beaten path the city is better for sites than beer. That said this brew pub is family owned and very nice. The food was very good and the house made dunkle is one of the better ones I’ve had in Germany. The city still has a streamlet and COMPLETE city walls. Seems like not much has changed here in hundreds of years. I really fell in love with the city and you’ll have a great time at this pub.“

“Traditional Brauereigasthof in the heart of picturesque Berching, just 20 miles north of the famous Altmühltal; more a decent restaurant than a basic boozer; the whole range of the Winkler-Brauerei (located in a building next door) is available there, bedrooms in the hotel in the brewery-court too. Worth a visit when You are in the area.“

“Ample old fashioned brewery tap on the edge of the picturesque town of Berching; time seems to have stood still since the 50’s or 60’s in this dim and not really cozy pub. Nevertheless worth a detour to sample the rare Schuller brews.“
