86 /100 METZGERGASSE 10 Located in an old cellar with a large vault and modern minimalist interior in one of the streets in the small old town of Burgdorf. 16 taps with exclusively their own beers. Additionally a lot of bottles from their brewery. Friendly service and good value. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area and/or if you like sour and wild ales. |
72 /100 Burgdorfer Schützenhaus (Restaurant) WYNIGENSTRASSE 13 Nice restaurant with a large Beer Garden in Burgdorf just outside the small old town. Modern interior inside. They offered six of their beers from tap. Food is available but I was there in the afternoon so I did not try. The waiter was a bit grumpy but I enjoyed the visit. Worth a visit if you are in the area. |
80 /100 EINSCHLAGWEG 59 The brewery is a bit hidden and located inside an old factory building in the industrial zone on the outskirts of Burgdorf. On certain days they sell bottles of all their available beers in bottles and sometimes they host larger public events with their beers from tap. Inside the production hall one wall is covered with stacked barrels for the barrel program and you can also have a look at the brewing equipment. The brewers are normally there and are happy to chat and share details of their beers, philosophy and the way they brew. |
84 /100 EINSCHLAGWEG 59 Cycled here from Bern in the summer. A small brewery located in an industrial complex, lots of barrels everywhere and a bar they're not allowed to use due to licensing issues. 'Tasters' in the form of bottles are a loophole though and the guys were very generous in pouring us out some samples while explaining their setup. The opening hours are limited but it's definitely worth a visit if you can get here - the beers here are pretty great! |
80 /100 EINSCHLAGWEG 59 Nice brewery in the industrial zone of Burgdorf. They sell their beers in their brewing and barreling room. You can buy their beers and have a long chat with the brewer. Very nice brewery, but it is not that easy to get there. |
88 /100 EINSCHLAGWEG 59 Blackwell currently is the hot Swiss brewery when it comes to non-strong but interesting beers. Their creations in all sour styles ranging from saison over sour/wild to gose and even sour stouts make any beer nerd drooling. And now they finally opened their place as well, installing 15 taps. They will mostly sell bottles during opening hours, but some taps should be open - And obviously even more for larger public events or specialised tastings. Blackwell is operated by people with science degrees who are happy to share their knowledge in workshops about yeast usage and peculiarities when brewing beer, next to owning one of the largest yeast collections and actually going out to the forest to collect local yeast strains. A place that would make any beer scene richer, and I’m happy to have it not too far off. |
74 /100 Gedex Getränke Abholcenter Burgdorf (Beer Store) KIRCHBERGSTRASSE 103 Great bottle shop! Good selection, also some local beers. |
72 /100 KORNHAUSGASSE 16 Brewpub on the edge of the centre of Burgdorf, not far from the Emme river. Two standard beers (Hell and Dunkel) plus a seasonal. Technically very good, sometimes a bit bland. The seasonal beers are always interesting. Recently got a new brewmaster (formerly of Weyermann, Bamberg!). They are going to expand, the brewery is running at full capacity. Good food at very decent prices. Two large outside areas in front and back. |
56 /100 KORNHAUSGASSE 16 A rather modern place (about a quarter mile away from the station) - beautiful surrounding. The girl which served me was quite cute. I think she was called Melanie, I might be wrong..... Spacious brewpub, infortunately a smoker’s place. Otherwise flawless. The procedure of ordering is rather strange- beneath a range of glasses... Interesting. The quality of the beers available is okay, even a bit mediocre in my opinion. My ratings were definately lover than the avarage on this pannel- almost against the grain. One of the beers won "Solothurner Biertage" by the way- a major beer festival in Switzerland. |
64 /100 KORNHAUSGASSE 16 One (very nice) standard beer + 1 or 2 specialities depending on the season. |
68 /100 KORNHAUSGASSE 16 Janaury 2002: From the outside, this looks like a classic Germanic gasthaus and brauerie. Inside it had a strangely bright modern atmosphere. The beer (they offer a solid lineup of regulars and seasonals) and food went down well though, so what else matters?
