82 /100 WHARF STREET
“A really great facility on the Cairns waterfront across the road from the Casino. They have a handful of their own brews plus a few guest taps. The venue itself is in an old waterfront warehouse and has plenty of atmosphere and is kept cool by sea breezes through the large doors. The food we had was good and service was prompt. All up a worthwhile place to visit.“

80 /100 WHARF STREET
“Hemingway's Brewery Cairns Wharf is located on the wharf at the cruise ship terminal, a short walk from the centre of town. It is a modern-looking place in the wharf complex, has the look of a warehouse and has old photos on the wall that link back to it wharf days. The venue is air-conditioned and has ceiling fans yet is open to the breeze that comes in off the waters of Trinity Inlet. There are views from both the indoor and outdoor seating over the water to the green of the tropical forest. Inside are trestle-like tables and stools as well as tabled and chairs, the seating done in a striking blue and white colour. There are about 20 taps that serve their own range as well as a few guest beers and cider. Taster are advertised and are at a reasonable price, and with each taster you are provided with a print-out of the beer’s characters. The staff and friendly and knowledgeable.“

76 /100 BANK LANE
“New brewing company with production and taproom in the center of Cairns. Taproom is open only a few days per week. Really it’s just some stools set up in the middle of the brewery floor, which is pretty fun. Friendly talkative brewers running the show. So far they are mainly focusing on low-ABV crowd pleaser beers, which makes some sense. They have some seasonals too. Make it a point to stop by if you’re in Cairns.“

46 /100 1/77 ESPLANADE
“A below average Bavarian-style beer hall/restaurant located on the Cairns Esplanade near the Night Markets. Tap list has several Mullerbrau beers (never seen these anywhere else in Australia and I have my doubts as to the authenticity) plus Spaten Munich lager. Lines behind the bar look dodgy. Backpacker service with zero beer specific knowledge. Nice list of bottled wheat beers and bocks but the interesting ones always seem to be out of stock. Used to serve really good German style pizzas (Flammkuchen) but not anymore - now just the usual German hearty fare which is OK. Prices are reasonable. Open for breakfasts at weekends. Outside pavement seating with no smoking as per Esplanade by laws. Could be so much better.“

60 /100 1/77 ESPLANADE
“Visited on 23rd March 2016. A German beer cafe on the Esplanade in Cairns. It’s really touristy with the old blue check tablecloths, German beer advertising adorning the walls, staff in German outfits etc. Beer range was OK with a few interesting beers. Prices weren’t too bad. Place is quite large, plenty of seating but not many people in as we visited. It’s OK. I wouldn’t rush back but for Cairns, which isn’t a beer destination. it’s not too bad.“
