Park Inn (Bar)
82 PARK ROAD
“Called into this locals bar and chose Purity Mad Goose which was fine. A couple of rooms with the bar, but I chose to sit outside with the beer.“

“Well this 2019 Good Beer Guide Brewery Tap that was called Stranton and now appears to be called Anchor Tap Room and Bottle Shop is still the Tap Room for Camerons brewery. It is very smart inside with a decent selection of their ales, plus a well stocked bottle shop in a room off the bar area. We enjoyed Camerons Surf and Camerons Old Sea Dog both of which were fine. Friendly staff happy to chat about the beers too.“

“Love this micropub with friendly landlord and customers to chat to. Great beer and cider choice and well kept too. Best real ale in Hartlepool. Enjoyed beers from Allendale and Tapped breweries today. Will be back.“

“Had a Crafty Monkey cask beer and an Alphabet brewery can of beer here and no problem. Quiet but we were here early. Would look in again.“

“I am sorry but one undrinkable beer in a cask marque pub didn't work for us today. Lovely old pub but one cask beer on and we had to leave it. Very poor“

“I have never been so humiliated in my life, I called in here to politely ask for the loo before I had chance to say I’ll get a drink the landlord attacked me and carried on doing so, at least 6 other men there, I begged and pleaded to no avail the landlord took great pleasure in aggressively getting me out, I can now see after looking online this is a regular thing, I was shaking in tears but this man/pig took great pleasure in trying to destroy me, if I wasn’t in hospital which is where I was on my way to at the station, the matter wouldn’t have ended. The matter hasn’t ended. I don’t tolerate bullies.“

“Located near centre of Hartlepool close to the Jackson's Arms on Tower Street, half deli with cheese counter, half bar with some hand pulls and row of taps plus fridges with bottles & cans. Plenty of tables & chairs seating. Worth looking in for local beers - Crafty Monkey on cask and Saints Row in bottle available when visited. Very brief visit on way home from afternoon walking along the seafront at Seaton Carew and hope to come back again in future“

“Visited on 12th Jan 2018. Large Spoons set back in the corner of the square with the war memorial. Large single room. Decor is a bit tatty but not terrible. 4 guest beers on tap plus the usual Spoons offerings. Quality of beer decent enough. Less than £2 a pint so great value. Solid Spoons.“

“Visited on 12th Jan 2018. Micropub in the station buildings. Single room. Loads of beer and local memorabilia adorn the walls and ceiling. Eclectic mix of seating. 4 beers on plus a small bottle selection. Service good. Prices ok. Interesting range of beers. Really hand stop. Recommended“

“Visited on 12th Jan 2018. Next to the brewery and part of the Visitors Centre this is a scruffy looking place on the outside. It's on a busy dual carriageway on the edge of town. Decor inside is really smart. A small bar area and a much larger seating area around the corner with a small selection of bottles for sale. Staff friendly. Beer in good nick. Prices ok. Decent array of Cameron's stuff and a few other beers. Not sure I'd dash back but a decent enough stop“

60 /100 3-9 CHURCH SQUARE
“Visited on 12th Jan 2018. Large Spoons a couple of mins walk from the station. Sort of L shaped with a light area watching the street the bar then a darker bit with an open fire. Decor is pretty clean and tidy. Beer wise only 2 guest beers plus the usual Spoons tat. Beer in decent nice. Service quick and a bargain £1.69 a pint. Handy for a beer before more interesting places open at 12.“

“Tiny one room micropub located in Hartlepool train station. Nicely decked out with lots of pump clips on the ceiling and beer memorabilia on the walls. Selection of 4 real ales, cider & perry plus a list of belgium bottled beers are available. Cosy with great atmosphere and service, recommended.“

66 /100 HARTLEPOOL RAILWAY STATION, STATION APPROACH
“This isn’t your standard pub as the whole place is no more than 5x3 metres in length and width. It occupies a room in the station building and its opening hours are limited. If you can get here during the times it is open then you’ll find the best and most eclectic range of ales in the town, albeit a selection limited to four or five and some real cider too. There’s no bar here, the pouring is unseen in a plasterboard room within the already confined space, although there’s still five tables packed into the limited space. As such it can be very social as there’s no possibility of a private conversation and the only atmospheric noise is supplied by the railway station itself. However if you are on your own there’s no shortage of reading material as there are 100’s of pump labels over the walls that make this an almost museum like place to drink. Newspapers are also provided and there’s no one in here who hasn’t come to drink ale.“

60 /100 TOWER STREET
“Occupying a corner building on the low key Tower Street (off Church Street, this is a fairly popular pub with two areas either side of a bar which is central to proceedings. The service area faces the main seating area that mostly includes comfy benches against its walls with sporadic tables in front of these. There are stools at the bar though which includes a selection of ales. Behind the bar section is the games room with a pool table and dart board, but not really suitable as a drinking area by itself. There is WiFi here and a friendly smile behind the bar.“

Park Inn (Bar)
82 PARK ROAD
“Just to the west of the commercial town centre, this is large town pub in a relatively modern building stands alone in its own grounds with plenty of parking and patio areas available. There’s two areas to drink in, the smaller front bar, or the larger room to the side and the rear more suited to large groups of if there is any entertainment going on. Both are pretty much decorated the same with a warm atmosphere through its soft furnishings and wooden fixtures and fittings. The ale selection is small and the pumps for these are in the rear area which is large enough to find your own quiet space.“

“On a corner of the main shopping centre by the main square, this Wetherspoon is very ordinary in appearance and style with the regular and dominant wooden furnishings, fixtures and fittings with a warming carpet. It is relatively cosy with an L-shaped bar as you walk in and two areas to sit on either side of that ’L’. There’s a walled patio area at the side and two rows of ale pumps that offer a decent choice.“

60 /100 3-9 CHURCH SQUARE
“The Lloyd’s Bar pub of the Wetherspoon chain in Hartlepool opposite the old church on Church Street. This has a warm decor in a traditional manor, but also quite polished and durable. It has a main area at the front with the bar along the back wall, and an area to the side of the bar which has plenty of booths, including some one seat diner tables along the side wall. There is a patio out back. There are six ale pumps in total.“

64 /100 GRAND HOTEL, SWAINSON STREET
“This is the bar of the Best Western Hotel which is chain owners of the Grand Hotel, head and tails above the rest in terms of the best looking building with a bar in Hartlepool. The red brick building is easily accessible from the main road and the general public are encouraged into this place, it certainly isn’t just for those staying in the hotel although it is accessible through the hotel areas. The main attraction for most would be the very cheap prices here and for ale drinkers there are up to four pumps of a local craft brew available. Perhaps the only downside is the slightly modernised interior and furniture to make it friendly to the masses, although some of the grandeur of the building is still utilised. This is a great place to watch the live football which is almost always on.“

88 /100 HARTLEPOOL RAILWAY STATION, STATION APPROACH
“Very small (seating for about 20) described as a micropub, privately own bar on the outside of Hartlepool Railway Station, excellent selection of real ales / craft beers. NO LAGER or FIZZY CIDER or SPIRITS and no toilets (use of the station platform toilets is permitted) did I mention NO LAGER. No bar or pumps on display, beer is ordered from the selection on the blackboard and then brought through from the back room. Very friendly, beer knowledgeable landlord, great place for drinking and talking good beer. “
