“Stopped here with family on a tour of Holy Island. Very good selection of spirits, beer, cider and especially Lindisfarne Mead which I was looking forward to. Pretty busy and the staff is nice, but not active on the helpful part. Prices were fair. If you're on the island have a go.“

“Decent array of Northumberland beers & some ciders but the Mead is why we're here! Huge choice of tastes & styles. Unfortunately the tasting bar was closed due to Covid. Decent gift shop inside the premises with some unusual stuff & the usual tat. Worth a visit to look round the small island, read about the history & buy some mead.“

“This is on a tidal island, so before you go, make sure you check when the causeway is open (be warned that the tide comes in across it very quickly). The mammoth (and pricey by Northumberland standards) car park shows what a tourist honeypot the island is, although most people seem to swarm around the rather disappointing castle. The meadery is in the village near the abbey ruins, and its products are sold in the modern-looking and rather characterless shop attached to the meadery (and in every other touristy spot in the county). They have free tasters laid out of all their meads, which obviously are sold in many different sized bottles. They also sell many other products made with their mead - jams and chutneys and suchlike. In addition, they sell loads of other local produce - including probably the best selection of local beers I saw in northern Northumberland (admittedly there isn't too much competition!). Breweries available include Bear Claw, Alnwick, High Farm, Hetton Law and Muckle (among others). The service is friendly enough, although unlike many producers' own shops it's not exactly bubbling over with enthusiasm - I'm guessing the shop staff are not part of the brewing team and are just a bit overwhelmed with the tourist crowds. Still, a must-visit if you're on the island, although from a tourist point of view I was a little underwhelmed by the island itself; other parts of Northumberland are far more attractive.“

“Smart shop and meadery on Holy Island just off the Northumberland coast. Visiting times depend on tides to cross the causeway. Sells their own Mead plus a range of local and Scottish bottled beers. Worth a look.“
