70 /100 OLIVOVA 246/23
“Having completely explored the lovely S7 line, it was time to look further now that regulations are a bit more lax, so S9 it was - with Říčanský pivovar in, of course, Říčany, allegedly voted to be one of the best places to live if not the best place to live in CZ, was a logical stop. Especially since it's always great to hit up a place with no earlier place ratings as well. A big enough place with a nice patio (and even parking area), the brewpub is a modern affair, but decorated with some care and with cute details. Modern music making the atmosphere a bit random Plenty of locals visited it, usually to eat, some to drink. 6 beers were on tap - their pale 10° and 12°, the dark 13°, IPA 15°, and two specials - a summer ale (in early February ?!) and a Valentine's day "cherry" special. The beers are 0.4l only, which is mildly annoying - and the prices to the upper middle scale of Prague prices - not the tourist place ones, but not the cheapest. 42, 45, 47, 49 for the regulars and 54 for the specials. Nothing to cry about of course. The food prices are sliightly elevated, but not prohibitively high - a lot of things are duck-based, which is a cool gimmick which I hope to try next time as I'd had lunch. The fries were okay and my friend had no complaints about the svíčková he had. The beers, however, need some tweaking and work in my book - the 10° was diacetyl-driven, the 12° best of the bunch with a nice hop bitterness and a bit heavy, the 13° dark lager a bit shy, the IPA too "Czech", the "cherry beer" for Valentine's day too fake and the "Summer Ale" while showing a nice tropical hop profile and good drinkability sadly with chlorophenols. The staff was professional, quick and friendly. Samplers are available I think and PETkas to go. Will try to revisit it to rerate it when the terrace is open too. It has potential. They do seem to need to work a little on some aspects, but the crew seems quite nice so I hope they do. How to get here: S9 to Říčany (20-30 min). From the train station get in the underpass, follow it through the southward, "main" exit, then go straight for 10 or so minutes at least, past the pool, the park etc., and follow the road till you hit the corner of Masaryk square (the town hall with the vines on the facade will be to your left and a café to your front), immediately turning left to Olivova, and following it till you hit the brewery to your left.“
