“I stopped in recently after a 10+ years hiatus. The lineup of Shirayuki beers was just 4, mostly pretty generic wits and low alcohol 4-4.5%. Prices looked cheap at first glance, but pours are just 250-330mls for 580-680. A few good belgian bottles for around 1100. They also had three guest German beers which were OK. And some nicely hopped but very light/no body pale ale from Australia. Be sure to print out a coupon if going; we got a free German dunkel each that way. They have excellent food, but portions were rather small. One 100g steak was 2800. The Belgian party plans are pretty steep, starting from 6,000. But just 90 min, and I wouldn’t want to feel forced to drink a bunch of 8% Orval or Duvel.“

“I signed up for some overtime today in Itami so I could go visit Konishi’s taproom/brewpub for lunch before work. Located midway between JR Itami & Hankyu Itami stations it is less than 30 minutes from Umeda but has very few ratings on ratebeer. This place is definitely flying under the beer geek radar. Great value 780 tasting set, glasses range from 500(Hosokawa) to 630 (Dark). A variety of lunch options are offered including two at 1000 yen( meat or fish). I had the meat which was very nice with French bread as a side-tasty. Cool beer hall decor of dark wood, brewery kettles & mash tuns with high ceilings make for an inviting environment as do separate smoking & non-smoking areas. 4 belgian beers on tap plus as well as the 4 Konishi beers all at reasonable prices plus 3 German guest beers (Germans were 600 yen & possibly in bottles). An extensive range of their sakes were also available. They also have a shop in front of the restaurant with a bunch of their beers, their imports plus their sakes at good prices. Why on earth aren’t more beer geeks coming here??? “

“A short walk from either Hankyu or JR Itami stations. They serve their 4 house beers on tap, plus two from Mortgaat. At least 40 Belgians in bottles are accompanied by many, many varieties of their house sake. Food is Belgian-inspired and pretty good. They also have a well-stocked shop with lots of imports and sake. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the Kansai area. Very accessible from Osaka or Kobe.“
