“Well, a bit of a strange visit as we ended up not getting anything, but it was a good place. Nice riverside location with a big patio, typical, bigger than average paraphernalia-laden interior, but making sense. Helpful service. The taps had the typical BA mix of a bunch of usual suspects, with a few beers from small breweries, but sadly, they ran out of a couple of brewery ticks of us, so we didn't stick around. It does seem to carry some local stuff, so a good visit to combine with Gränden, maybe to pick up some stuff you couldn't get at G.“

“You can find Gränden walking through Karlstad's inner harbor, a part of Klarälven's delta the town's built upon, by walking past Löfgrens roastery and its clouds of roasted coffee aroma, in a string of gentrified dock buildings. As the name says (no, really), it's as much of a restaurant as a beer bar - having a Wärmland twist in both cases. 8 taps active when we were there, 6 of which where Wärmland beers (from MJs, Wermlands, Ten Hands and Västra Ämterviks), then one Apex and Beavertown. MJs, a Karlstad micro does a house hazy for them too, which I liked. We got Hammarö, Fryksdalens and Karlskoga's Gammelbacka, which is technically in Örebro, but the town was historically Wärmland too. Quite good service if I remember correctly. The food was quite nice too. I usually dislike white pizzas, but theirs, with chanterelles, honey, kale chips, prosciutto, honey etc. was very, very tasty - and sizeable enough for the price (blew Nyköping's completely out of the water). Don't remember if they had wi-fi really. The prices? I know the lagers on tap were 79/0.4l and other beers more expensive I guess, typically expensive Swedish bottles. Downsides? Dunno, what I saw of the interior didn't fully thrill me, the toilets weren't the greatest (it WAS a busy night) and it rained, which is hardly their fault.-An essential visit when in town, to be combined perhaps with Good Guys Brew across the street.“

“Visited june 2022 with beery friends. Nice cosy pub at the harbour side. Seating inside as outside, outside luckily cowered since raining.. Nice selection of beers booth on tap as bottles / cans. Friendly staff. They do nice food as well.“

“Visted last Saturday evning 2021-10-02 Karlstad Cozy interior a bit on the romantic side. 4 on taps, locals much more locals and other Swedish brews. Even found a new brewery. Nice and talkative staf. Food looks great. Seemed to the best place in Karlstad.“

“Located in a rustic brick building close to the water, must be scenic in the daylight. Rustic but welcoming interior the bar disk and pizza making table is combined. 10 brews on tap, several guest brews offered on bottle/cans. Don’t forget to check the offerings bu glass on the black board - three sour ones when was visiting. Friendly staff but not knowledgeable. Pizza locked good - need to try another time.“

“10 minutes walk from the main square. Open interior with central bar. 20 taps mostly locked for bad ones. 10-15 open but only half of the raps are on. Many danish ones on at my visit and a few local. A wee fridge with additional bottles. Kind of ok. “

“Location, in the city center. 10 lockas on tap but to crowded on a Saturday evinnerlig, took 15 minutes to approach the bar - and then no one was queuing about for some to drink. The guys were friendly and open minded. Not a place to enjoy a beer.“

“Surprisingly nice and cozy place basically just around the corner from the main square. Intimate and cozy with a decent bottle selection, including the local Good Guys brew. Attentive, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Seems to be connected to the Pitcher’s around the corner, but a much better option in my opinion. Not the widest selection on tap, but there was at least something interesting on. Food certainly looked decent. Well worth a visit and by far my favorite in Karlstad.“

“Above-average member of the Bishops Arms pub chain: beers on tap rotate more frequently than at other locations, good and varied selection, almost always something fresh and local. Bottle selection is extensive (they even have a small cellar/vintage stuff) - ask the staff! Staff is overall very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what they sell. Food is "pub fare plus", nothing super exciting but always reliable. Very spacious bar, good for a bigger group of people.“

“Great small bar. Only three taps but not tied to any chain so often very surprising/eclectic selection - everything from local stuff to rather limited US beers can turn up. Three fridges of bottles. Food ranges from plain but good home cooking to more advanced stuff, somewhat expensive but entirely normal by Swedish small town standards - good value for money, even. Staff attentive and knowledgeable. Also has a great and carefully curated wine list.“

“When I visit a Bishops Arms pub, I know what to expect, and I like it. Craft beers on tap, both Swedish and foreign and some interesting bottles as well. Maybe I was lucky with the girls working in the bar this evening, I have nothing to complain about considering service and knowledge. Well, I didn’t challenge them with a beer quiz... “Things have changed to the better? Still rather boring tap selection, but many exciting bottles are hidden in the fridge. No beer menu but easy to see what’s in the fridge. It’s not everyday I see three different beers from Canadian Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery. Service minded male bartender who helped me finding some interesting bottles. Free crisps! Most guests were seated outside this hot summer evening, I stayed inside. The next step for this bar is to add some craft beers on tap. (Visited July 23rd 2014)“

“This store has a shelf with "limited selection" foreign craft beers. You never now what to find, but I was happy to grab a bottle Evil Twin Femme Fatale Yuzu Pale. And of course, you will find bottles from local breweries as Wermlands and Grythyttans. (Visited July 23rd 2014)“

“Visited in 2014. Looks like most Bishops Arms pubs at first glance but this place is allot bigger then the other pubs I’ve been to. Average Bishops pub in terms of selection. Decent food but very slow service.“

“Visited a warm Saturday afternoon, so quite crowded on the nice patio overlooking the canal. Empty inside - has the same bolt-on interior as other BA. Nice selection on tap as well as bottles. Staff did not impress as far as knowledge about the beers goes. Otherwise a nice place when in Karlstad.“

“Visited in June 2011. Pretty crowded on a Saturday night. Decent, but not the most exciting selection of beer. British, Swedish, Czech, Danish, German and Belgian, primarily from the bigger breweries. Not the place to look for exciting micros, but plenty of nice beer. Very nice whisky selection (five different Port Ellen on the menu at the time of our visit)“

“Visited on December 11, 2010. Sat down in some nice comfy armchairs and had a fresh nice beer from Jämtlands. Was there fairly early on this Saturday, so not too crowded. Did not eat this time around. Nice staff. Centrally located and nice environment.“

“A standard Bishops Arms pub, but with a nice menu and a good selection of beers. The staff is friendly but the place is understaffed when the place is busy. At least one of the guys have a very good knowledge about whisky. If in Karlstad, this is where to go.“

“Quite similar to other Bishop’s Arms pubs considering interior and beers. Had a nice bear burger (sic) and a few interesting surprises beerwise. The staff was mostly very friendly and cheerful, but didn’t always handle busy times very well. Sure a place you must visit when in Karlstad, as most of the restaurants only serve mediocre or really boring beers. And I like the rotating Swedish taps at BA. Some of the prices are a bit high, but most is reasonable.“

“Not bad, but as all Systembolaget stores, it’s filled with uninteresting pale lagers from the Swedish macros. Off course they’re interesting for the ticking part of the hobby, but that’s it. A decent selection of rather mainstream international ales and a few really interesting ones always show up at the medium sized stores like this one. Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weizen was certainly the most interesting find.“

“Well, it’s Systembolaget. The place I buy most of my beers, especially in the beggining of the month when they have "temporary news". Good thing is that you can order beers from their central-stockroom or some other store in Sweden if they don’t have it.“

“Visited the place once only (March 2008). Eventhough it was on a Saturday evening the place was quite empty. A lot of taps, but several were not on. The selection was OK, but not as good as other Bishops Arms I have visited. Good selection on Bottle.“
