64 /100 Lost Brewing Co (Bar) 58 EAST STREET Stopped in here real quick while on holiday for some cans to go. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable, however they wouldn't tell me who was brewing their beer or where. They had a lot of other stuff on tap and in cans as well. Pretty decent place for this touristy location. |
58 /100 Towan Blystra (JDW) (Bar) 12-16 CLIFF ROAD Went on holiday to Newquay in the spring, actually lined up with one of the JDW tap events. Was able to hit this place up to get a Jersey tick. They are the same as pretty much all JDW places, standard shit casks and then 4-5 rotational. Pretty busy bar area, but tons of seating overall. |
50 /100 55 Yards Bar & Townhouse (Bar) 5 CHELTENHAM PLACE Seem to be under refurbishment at the moment. No idea wether it will still be a craft beer place or not when it reopens. Can the following reviewer please let me or Ratebeer know when it reopens if it still sells craft beer or not, thanks! |
66 /100 Towan Blystra (JDW) (Bar) 12-16 CLIFF ROAD Seafront spoons. Free WiFi as usual.. They use a red/green card system. Green side up on your table and you want to order a drink, red side up and you"re fine. They took my order quickly. It was very busy inside as it was raining cats and dogs. I had a pint for 2.15, very cheap. |
56 /100 Great Western (St Austell) (Restaurant) GREAT WESTERN HOTEL, CLIFF ROAD Great location and view 😎. You pay for the privilege, a half of St Austell beer is 2.40 at the time of writing. |
66 /100 Lost Brewing Co (Bar) 58 EAST STREET Nice place close to the sea front. They have 4 of their own beers on tap, all pretty decent. They do a sampler of 3 1/3 rds pint for quid. Free WiFi. Friendly service. |
52 /100 55 Yards Bar & Townhouse (Bar) 5 CHELTENHAM PLACE Lovely clean space with nice furniture and ok music ; beer selection is adequate loads of local offerings cans and bottles. Firebrand NEIPA was the best of the bunch with a very heady topper like herbal aroma.
Best place in Newquay very relaxed compared to other places.
1 local cask pump that had fire brand amber ale which was average loads of caramel and toffee and no off flavours. |
60 /100 Great Western (St Austell) (Restaurant) GREAT WESTERN HOTEL, CLIFF ROAD Newquay is a picturesque tourist location in Cornwall. The hotel/restaurant is owned by St. Austell Brewery, so it’s stocked with their kegs and casks, but that’s fine. I really enjoyed their IPA and the view was stunning. Well worth staying here if you’re vacationing in the area. |
64 /100 Stable Newquay (Restaurant) FISTRAL BEACH, HEADLAND ROAD The Newquay branch of growing pie / pizza / cider restaurant chain The Stable. Based at Fistral Beach, this takes pride of place at the top of the restaurant complex overlooking the beach and is similar in design to the other Stables with long wooden tables and benches and a bar made from reclaimed wood. This is primarily a destination for cider-heads, with just one cask ale on tap and no beers spotted in the fridge. Instead there is a bountiful supply of bag in a box ciders mounted on high - I think around 20 on my visit! There are around 40 bottled ciders in the fridge but focussed on regional only - Cornwall, Somerset, Devon etc... Food is pretty good - I went for a pie, which was served on a board with crunchy salad, carrot shavings and a pickled onion which made a very welcome change to standard chunky chips and gravy! Even if cider’s not your bag, I’d definitely recommend popping in for a bite to eat. Made fresh and very reasonably priced. Just remember if trying to access from the beach, you need to walk around the right hand side to the back for the entrance. |
