“I agree with nice people in this boutique location in prime tourist spot (in normal times). But the beer selection does not move, everything I checked was past prime.“

“Really nice brewpub in the downtown NOTL strip. A small bar and some tables. No TVs. Bartender was very friendly, knew the beers well. There was a pretty extensive tap list with a focus on Belgian styles and sours. They have some bottles available for purchase as well. Beers were quite good. Small food menu but they did have a guy making sushi on site (didn't try it). Definitely a place you can spend a few hours...“

“Nice, rustic brewpub in NOTL. Large place, has outdoor seating and an outdoor bar (indoor also but I didn't see it). Nice view of vineyards/fields. Website was misleading as I thought there was a Sunday brunch but apparently that's only certain times of the year. Anyway, worth the wait until it opened at 12. They didn't have a lot of taps, but what they did have was excellent. I tried a milkshake IPA, fruited sour IPA, pale ale, and toasted walnut stout. They also had BBQ plates, really good food. Overall good quality beer and food, worth a stop.“

“Cozy brewpub in NOTL. A smallish place, a bit crowded. The tap list is not huge. We got an English pale ale, smoked ale, and saison, which were solid. Food menu was small, don't remember everything on it, ended up getting nachos which were good. Not a terribly memorable place and probably not somewhere you'll spend a ton of time, but a decent stop.“

“Visited on June 15, 2019, in the afternoon. Located on the in the touristy part of Niagara on the Lake, next to the historical Niagara Apothecary (free to visit btw), far more upscale as a brewery than Niagara Oast House and Silversmith, in fact the most fancy brewery/brewpub I've ever been so far. It's a two story establishment, with more seating space on the second (with a patio), the inside looks like a high end bar and it's very narrow. The beer selection is mostly barrel aged and sour stuff, the foreign stout was nice and so was the heffy. The service was very nice and knowledgeable, we even got a free sample. Only two down side to the Exchange, a bit pricey and too fancy for my taste!“

“A must for sour kettle beer lovers. Small place on the main strip of Niagara on the lake. Nice enterieur and helpfull staff. I am always a little carefull about beers in a noble packing (good marketing), but thos beers where very nice. Belgian sours, wild fermented, brett and aok aged. Everything you need! Absolutly worth a visit (and a detour).“

“2018-10-27. Stopped in as part of a winery/brewery tour and sampled a couple of their ciders and their wines. Our tasting guide was friendly. The winery is less fancy than some but nice enough. Selection includes a handful of ciders in addition to the wines. Worth a visit, but more so if you are also interested in trying the wines. “

“Beautiful space on the main drag of Niagara on the Lake. First floor with a modern bar, well decorated, with store, and second floor with more seating and a beautiful terrasse outside. The beers are are solid, very Belgian in inspiration, and flights are available at 2$ for 3 ounce pours, served in a cool clock style. Good service. No food but sushi caterer was there exceptionally.“

“Spent a chilled hour here sampling a 6 beer flight. Lots of distressed wood and brick. Barman helpful and informative beers renged from competent to delicious. Kudos to the barman for the way he dealt with a loud brash American lady seeking to buy wine in a brewery. Worth a visit if you’re in town. Growlers available.“

“2017-03-04. Downstairs has a glamourous polished entrance into the brewery with a tall wall of bottles leading up past the second floor. Limited seating at the bar, more tables upstairs. One section overlooks the wall and main floor - iphone chargers at some seating is a nice touch. The table area feels a touch less polished than the rest, in a way I can’t quite pin down, but has nice view out over the park and looks like they open it up in warmer weather. Good selection of their own beers, with about 10 taps in a range of styles on today, and even more in bottles to go. Bottles are on the pricier side. Food menu is primarily snacks. We shared a meat and cheese board that was delicious but had significantly less cheese on it that I had hoped for, and some popcorn. Enjoyed our visit, well worth a visit if you are in town and combined with the other breweries/wineries in the area makes for a good excuse for a day out/road trip.“

“2017-03-04. Huge barn of a place that has ping pong in the back, and a view of the brewing equipment. The long bar obviously towards the winery weekend crowds sampling their way down Niagara Stone Rd. There is a small seating area and what seemed to be a kitchen that was closed while we visited. Large selection of their own beers on tap or in bottles, it’s definitely a good way to try their stuff at $2 / sample before committing to relatively pricey bottles. Staff was friendly, we didn’t really test their beer knowledge. (More variable on a return visit unfortunately.) Menu gives good descriptions of all the beers. Overall it’s a nice stop and well worth including in a beer/wine tour of the area.“

“2017-03-04. Renovated church space is nice. Stained glass windows, stools at a long bar and lots of seating. The tables are a bit closer together than my preference especially on a surprisingly busy Saturday afternoon. They offer a decent selection of their own beers as well as a few guest taps. Server was friendly but not super attentive - though in fairness we lingered on our drinks so she may have assumed we were good. They have a small food menu with the food prep area situated at one end of the building. We had already eaten lunch at The Pie Plate across the street - which also sells baked goods to go. Overall it’s a nice space and well worth including in a beer/wine tour of the area but how much you enjoy their house beers will likely be the determining factor in how often you return.“

“This is just a retail store. Really large selection of different styles, and a fair number of one-offs. Very helpful staff. You can get samples of a large number of their beers before committing to buying anything. Their "Beer 101" series is a nice way to educate people about different styles of beer.“

“Lovely old converted church. We’ve been here a few times over the past year, and every time it’s busier than the last. They have a small selection of their own brews that doesn’t seem to change. Occasional seasonal beers appear, but they seem to reappear year over year. I find most of their beers good but unremarkable, except for the great Black Lager. Food is provided by Tide and Vine in the back of the church; pretty good food, though it seems a bit pricey for the portions.“

“Great big red barn in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Nice farmhouse feel inside. Big wooden bar where you can get samples, pints and growlers to go. Wish they had smaller format growlers or crowlers. They have a small area that serves food, but we haven’t tried it yet. Definitely a place we go to every time we are in the area.“

“Small brewpub in an old church with hop vines hanging outside - ambiance is pretty much perfect. Service was a little slow and disorganized, but they seemed to be extra busy (with bachelor parties) when we came (dinner time on Saturday). Acceptable selection of beers - 6 different ones. Dark Lager and Breakfast Wheat were the winners. Food was fine, but nothing special. Overall recommended if you’re a beer fan in the otherwise wine-filled Niagara-on-the-Lake area.“

“Lovely upscale bar area. There’s a small seating area upstairs toward the back of the restaurant. There’s a solid selection of classic and some experimental styles. They are doing nice experiments with barrel aging that work pretty well. The servers were friendly and happy to chat about the beer. Fairly pricy bottles (although no worse that Oast House up the road). Good location downtown as well.“

“Off the main street Olde Angel serves local beer, from some Ontario micros and some from the UK. No Moosehead and no Heineken. Wonderful atmosphere and great service and the building itself is pure beauty. It’s like travelling back some hundred years in time.“

“2015-08. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon on our drive home. It’s a fairly small store and sampling area, just two fridges of bottles and cans, about a dozen (more?) taps available for samples or growler fills. The recipes on offer change frequently so there will almost definitely be something new available each time you visit. Quality of the student beers varies, but are mostly at least decent, some are quite good. Worth a stop! Bartender was one of the students and knew his stuff.“

“Visited on June 26, 2015, in late morning (10 AMish). Located on the far side of the Taylor Road entrance, pass the winery, next to the greenhouse. It’s very unassuming place, compared to the winery (obviously, this is wine country after all). It’s a simple straightforward bottle shop, with a few merchandise. About a dozen beers on tap that day, there was nice dark Belgium ale of the Certified Originals line, but it was not available in single bottle. In fact there was not a lot of single, some 6 packs and growlers, it kind of suck but I imagine they are doing well. Next time I’m in the region, I hope they have more!“

Olde Angel Inn (Restaurant)
224 REGENT STREET
“Visited on June 25, 2015 in the evening. Located just off Queen Street (the town’s main street), with a parking lot on the left and a lot of street parking. From the outside, it’s a lovely circa 1825 inn (their website mentions 1815). But from the inside, an old, cramp style pub. Wood and a bit of stone is the dominating feature, with a lot of typical pub decoration. Although you do have your tourist, most of the patrons are locals, load locals. The food is your typical pub fare, nothing adventures, at less not what I had so far. The beer selection is so so, they have their own house brew, but I have no ideal who makes them and their micro selection is weak. It’s a local hangout more than anything else!“

“Visited on June 25, 2015 for lunch. Located in the heart of the village of Virgil (almost the center of Niagara-on-the-Lake), in a former church, the pub section that is with an extension on the side for the brewery. Despite its small size, it feels big, wide open, long bar, there is some church elements, mix with your typical comfy pub look. They only had four of their beer on tap, plus four invited taps, the Damn Buster English Ale was nice but the Bavarian Breakfast Wheat was really good and I bought a bottle of Black Lager. The food menu is limited, offered by Tide & Vine, their speciality is oysters (yes the brewpub do have a oyster stout as a seasonal), but I had the bratwurst and for the first time in my life, I ate sauerkraut, which is braised with their Bavarian Breakfast Wheat and does not smell like a bucket of vinegar, it was good. This is no doubt a cool place and not bad for a brewery in wine country!“

“A retail store with taps and bottles, located on campus. Service was nice and friendly, but from the hospitality side of the college, not the brewing. Selection was great with tons to try. Quality varied drastically. Prices were reasonable. Lots of samples to be had that change quiet often, a tickers delight.“

“A beautiful little brewery in an old Anglican Church. A sizable bar down one side with the brewery itself situated at the back of the room. The server was enthusiastic and chatty (perhaps a bit too chatty) but could have used some more education about what was in the glass. Some of the beers were well dialled in (schwarz and wheat) some less so (a few IPAs that were quite bad). It got a pretty good vibe - I just hope they sort out some of the less appealing products because you could definitely kill a few hours in here.“

“Cool little spot on the main drag into town. The place was jumping when I was in with loads of cyclists and tourists popping in. Not a whole lot of selection (only three) but their saison is always a winner. Pretty pricy bottles and merch I have to say, but the guys were very friendly and willing to answer questions. Definitely worth popping in if you’re in the area.“

“Great beers and overall vibe! These guys absolutely nail rustic with a very funky interior design. It is in an old red barn with a tasting bar and production area that you can see through glass. These guys are very new but are already making some of the best beer in the province IMO. Try the Saison that they referment in the bottle and a very fresh and hoppy beer that is called the Barnraiser. Will be back as often as possible, but hopefully they make life a bit easier and get into the LCBO stores a bit closer to the city.“

“Nice little brewery/beer-store/tasting-bar, apparently in an old barn in a rural area outside of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Surrounded, of course, by grape vines. Nice to see a brewery can flourish in wine county. Only 2 beers available when I went in, but I was able to sample both. Bottles are pricy, but the quality of the beer is good. Good service, and some good looking glasses for sale in the gift shop. I look forward to popping in again when I’m in the area.“

“Fun to visit. The beers aren’t that good; they put a marzen, of all things, on cask; and the brewmaster uses the same yeast for most of the beers (something one of the students decried). The program is wonderful, teaches students not just brewing but the business of beer. So it’s fun to visit and support the program. The Teaching Winery across the way has a gorgeous back patio with view, too.“
