Bay Horse (Bar)
20 UPPERTOWN,
“Although it has the least interesting location of the four pubs in Oxenhope, situated on the main road that heads up to the moors, it does have the best selection of rotating real ales of them all. There’s up to 7 available, although in the winter months this will probably be reduced as the tourist demand drops. They had their own named ale made for them by Slightly Foxed Brewery. Food is served here and the upper level to the left of the bar which greets you when you enter is set-up for dining. To the right of the the bar is a cosy area of seating around a fireplace, and the one separate room at the rear is home to the pool table. There’s quite a few tables out front and a number of parking spaces at the side of the pub which is in its own building and blends in well with the many houses close by. The decor is traditional pub with carpets and warming soft furnishings that appeal.“

68 /100 DENHOLME ROAD, OFF TROUGH LANE, LEEMING
“The penultimate building in the Oxenhope conurbation to its south-east. The last building is the Leeming Wells hotel and spa directly behind the pub, although they seem to compliment each other given their proximity. As the road rises continually through the houses from the centre of Oxenhope to this pub the views back down the valley are wonderful, but as there’s no outdoor seating at the front of the building this is only really enjoyable from the top car park. There is a lower car park for when the place gets busy and given the location customers with cars probably make up the lion share of those through the door. Inside the bar greets you as you walk in with its soft furnished and comfortable drinking areas directly in front. You can of course eat here as most customers through the door do, but there are also dining area at both extremities of the open plan ground floor and there’s enough room to take coach parties in here. There are usually four Tim Taylor ales available at any time.“

Lamb Inn (Bar)
DENHOLME ROAD, BACK LEEMING
“At the top of a steep hill on the road leaving Oxenhope to the south-east, this pub occupies the middle ground between a fork in the road. It’s an attractive enough building with several picnic tables on the wide ramp leading up to the front door in the middle of the building. As you walk in the bar with its very cosy drinking tables is on the left and the dining area tables are to the right. The whole pub is full of classic and classy clutter that give it a warm ambiance and its is soft furnished throughout. Despite the quality feel the food is very reasonably priced and there are a couple of real ales available, however ’The Lamb Inn’ ale is Tetley’s Cask in disguise. Well-behaved children are welcomed here.“

60 /100 HEBDEN BRIDGE ROAD
“Perched high above the town on the road to Hebden Bridge and offering fantastic views across the valley and hills, this pub is pretty isolated in terms of its location and probably requires a decent number of people making a specific trip to dine here through the week and weekend, and it’s open for most of the day as well in the summertime. It’s not as big as you expect inside, with two area to sit in either side of the bar that greets you as you walk in, the decor and furniture, although a mix of wood and soft furnishings has much more of a modern touch to it that takes a slight edge off the traditional inn experience. The bar sports a couple of real ale pumps that have crafts from local brewers on. The deck out front is elevated above the road so views are not obscured and there are some picnic tables on the small hill that dissects the ample parking area here. Reopened in 2015 after a year closed by the same people that own the White Lion in Hebden Bridge. Real Ale remains a fixture here.“
