70 /100 29, SPRING STREET, TYBURNIA A visit in the run-up to Christmas pretty much guarantees central London pubs will be rammed. I walked in and straight out of two pubs before going to check out The Bear. A corner pub which is smaller than I expected it to be. I wasn't entirely taken with the decor. Booth seating just didn't work and made it more like a diner than a pub. There was also a large space in the middle of the pub with no seating. Perhaps they were expecting to need the standing room. All the tables were taken so I went and sat outside. Despite being busy is seemed muted, perhaps again a reeult of yhe ill-suited decor. Typically decent array of beers, as it is after all a Craft Beer Co establishment. A good edition to the area but wouldn't bother heading here specifically. Helpful if not overly exuberant staff |
78 /100 29, SPRING STREET, TYBURNIA (Visited in May 2024) New addition to the Craft Beer chain. Located just around the corner from Paddington station. Perfectly loacated for a pint just after arriving or before leaving, in an area in great need of a good pub. Interior much like some of the other Craft pubs, but this time in green. Six hand pumps, in good condition on my visit, and 25-30 keg taps. Good bottle selection. Food is mainly burgers. Swift and friendly service. Great place, as expected. Will certainly be back. |
64 /100 Victoria (Fuller’s) (Bar) 10 STRATHEARN PLACE Beautiful old building right in the middle of some wonderful mews right next to Hyde Park. Lovely interior on multiple levels, lots of curios on the walls. 6 handpull, mostly Fuller's stuff you can find in all their pubs, and then 10 keg offerings, again not the most exciting range, but we did find ticks. One of the ticks was godawful, the other was amazeballs, so choose wisely. Perfectly friendly staff, let anna snoop around and take photos from other sections of the building that weren't reserved. Customers are peaky - initially we thought we had no chance of sitting or even standing, and then during our few minutes of umming and ahhing, suddently a table and 4 seats appeared - magic, that's ours now! Great place - but time your trip to avoid whatever we just about missed. |
66 /100 29, SPRING STREET, TYBURNIA 6 handpulls, 30+ keg taps, and a very impressive fancy Belgians fridge: you're certainly going to be spoilt for choice. Alas, they're stroking the ego and wallet of the hipster nouveau crafte drinker, I think Quetsche was about 14 quid for a small glass, and the pastry sours were silly, and the hazy nonsense was nonsense, so someone just wanting a good beer at a reasonable price might find it hard. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, though, and fortunately the beers are mostly available in thirds to keep the tickers happy. Definitely worth a stop. Nice quiet interior, has a relaxed vibe, and I seem to remember there was something rather bizarre downstairs near the loos, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. Go there, and tell me, please. |
56 /100 PADDINGTON STATION / UPPER CONCOURSE Doesn't seem to know what it's trying to be, but I don't think the people who would go there would care about that. On the mezzanine, it's kinda doing a railway theme with the seating, pleasantly quiet, downstairs it's just a place to spend a few minutes between trains, lacking character. 8 hand pulls, and a similar number of keg taps, there's some choice, but so many are pretty commonly found brews. Probably works best as a meeting point before starting a beer tour, but not really a destination in itself. |
76 /100 29, SPRING STREET, TYBURNIA Interesting modern pub in an area begging for renewing - pubwise. (Visited together with Rune 20.3.23) |
68 /100 BrewDog Paddington (Bar) UNIT 1, WEST END QUAY, S WHARF RD 5-7 minutes walking distance from Paddington Station, this is basically a standard BrewDog bar in a nice surrounding (water right next to it). Taplist had the standard nonsense for the dozen+ taps, with some decent guest taps for much of the remainder. Friendly service as always, with the usual 1/3 pints and free tastes available for filthy tickers. Not one of the better BrewDog bars in London, but if you’v got some time to kill near Paddington Station, this is a decent stop. |
56 /100 PADDINGTON STATION / UPPER CONCOURSE Visited July 2019. |
62 /100 Pride of Paddington (Bar) 1 CRAVEN ROAD Visited August 2023..
Few known beers on cask.
Lots of seatings inside, plus a few outside..
Nice service from the staff..
Having a black board that shows the train table...
Old school pub with a twist.. lot of the deco is related to trains or to bear Paddington..
Do food but we didn't have any.. |

58 /100 Heist Bank (Restaurant) 5 NORTH WHARF Visited August 2023..
Placed close to the canal and Paddington station, easy to find..
For sure not a beery place, more a pitstop for the tourist.. good amount of seats inside as outside..
Most flowers outside was dead.
Few beers from London breweries on tap. Served in ok condition...
The staff was staff at work... |
96 /100 29, SPRING STREET, TYBURNIA Craft Beer Co’s latest addition to its growing estate. A tremendous amount of thought has gone into the design of its interior, and seemingly no expense has been spared on detail. A basement room known as the Den can be hired out. This very comfortable pub is situated metres from Paddington station, and does everything Peter and Martin are renowned for. A comprehensive keg and cask range, plus a fair number of spirits, wines and champagnes are purveyed in these plush surroundings, supplemented by a legendary burger menu. I’ve paid two memorable visits, the second with a friend who was equally taken. Recommended |
66 /100 Victoria (Fuller’s) (Bar) 10 STRATHEARN PLACE Visited many times over the years. |
80 /100 29, SPRING STREET, TYBURNIA A really welcome addition to a rather dull beer part of Greater London. A corner, medium sized place with a L-shaped serving bar and room. Altogether 35 draught beers, including six cask ales. They all can be served in 1/3 pint measures. Many of their beers came from London breweries. Good range of craft beers on cans in the fridge as well. Burger options. Friendly service. A small patio in front of the entrance. Quite popular early on a Thursday afternoon. We enjoyed our stay with great background music from Undertones, Simple Minds, Oasis, Madness, and Waterboys. We took the Elizabeth line from Heathrow to Paddington and walked right up to The Bear, very convenient, and just the right way to start our stay in London for the weekend. (Visited with Finn, 09.02.2023). |
78 /100 BrewDog Paddington (Bar) UNIT 1, WEST END QUAY, S WHARF RD Yet another BrewDog in London, but I keep coming back. This One's tucked away a little bit in a mino-shopping area off Edgware Road; you may not find it if you're not looking for it. It's bigger than it looks from outside, with a surprising amount of seating at the back. The beer selection is excellent with many more guests than your average BrewDog. The likes of Pomona Island, Buxton and Upland were featured. Please note that the draught choices here are incredibly expensive, even for a London BrewDog in 2022. There are a few bottles and cans to take away that will break the bank even more, but it's nice to have the added choice. Can be missed but it's certainly a decent example of the chain. |
60 /100 PADDINGTON STATION / UPPER CONCOURSE Visited 4/4/2022 (have done a number of times before but never rated apparently). Mix of typical Fullers and other macro brews available. So it’s not special, but is the best way to spend a bit of pre-train time whilst waiting for the always very late announcement of which platform your train is departing Paddington from. |
64 /100 Heist Bank (Restaurant) 5 NORTH WHARF Not too much choice around Paddington station, this place is about 5 mins walk away. Only other option is the Brewdog bar jfurther up Paddington basin. A bit of a concrete jungle inside. 8 taps, mostly from London/southern based breweries including at least 2 'craft' lagers. There are cans in the fridge too, |
70 /100 BrewDog Paddington (Bar) UNIT 1, WEST END QUAY, S WHARF RD Big Brewdog bar with friendly staff. Loads of seating area and good selection of beers. |
52 /100 Pride of Paddington (Bar) 1 CRAVEN ROAD Ticked, ate, napped, and showered here during an 8-hour London layover en route to the beer and literal desert of Abu Dhabi. Tired AF with no sleep. So tired I probably had a Goodyear imprint on my forehead. But we must tick on, as Tickston Churchill once said in the face of the evil Germans threatening to impose the Reinheitsgebot on everyone, oh and also like slaughter everyone and put the world under a brutal murderous dictatorship and stuff. Beer selection is theoretically decent but they only had two real ales on when I was there! Also a few average tap beers. Food is fine, prices are typical, 'biance is chill. A place to tick if you're in the'hood, but don't fly to London just for this. |
74 /100 BrewDog Paddington (Bar) UNIT 1, WEST END QUAY, S WHARF RD Visited July 2019. Short walk from Edgware station. Large spacy place. Lots of seating inside as well as outside.. friendly service. Nice line up of beers, served with a smile and find good condition.. free WiFi.. Nice and welcoming atmosphere, tables not to close to each other, music not to loud.. I like the place.. |
72 /100 PADDINGTON STATION / UPPER CONCOURSE Visited July 2019.. short pit stop when changing trains. Placed upstairs, very cosy train station pub.. Being a Fullers pub mainly Fullers beers.. Still managed to find 2 new beers.. Friendly service and beers served in good condition.. |
56 /100 Swan (Fuller’s) (Bar) 66 BAYSWATER ROAD Pleasantly located traditional pub facing Hyde Park by Lancaster Gate tube station. Twin floored and tourist heavy, mostly ordering food on my early evening visit. Fullers ales are the choice, keg and cask available. Has a lovely traditional styling. |
68 /100 Premier Wine & Spirits (Beer Store) 38 CRAVEN ROAD One of a few bottle shops in this area. Absolutely a decent selection. And a lot better than Nisa next door. |
38 /100 Nisa Local (Bayswater) (Grocery Store) 40-42 CRAVEN ROAD Not many bottle shops in this area. This one and Premier Wine & Spirits next door are the only only ines. I would recommend Premier. But the selction are different. So have a look.... |
70 /100 BrewDog Paddington (Bar) UNIT 1, WEST END QUAY, S WHARF RD Large open plan bar cum restaurant with decent outside space. Looks out over Paddington basin with the station in the distance. 10 to 12 beers on offer, a few cask, the rest on tap. It was OK for a quick beer before my train but I’d probably not make a special visit there |
44 /100 Pride of Paddington (Bar) 1 CRAVEN ROAD Do I have anything new to tell about this pub? Ok it is not a craft beer pub. But not many of the traditional English pubs are. And this is an old traditional pub. It is just…..sorry to say…but this one was not really cousy, like many of the other traditional English pubs. Not to bad bad beer selection. But some cans or bottles from the new wave of british brewing would help A LOT.
There are many others in this are that I would recommend instead of this one

52 /100 8 LONDON STREET Visited 21.10.18. Conviniently around the corner from Paddington Station. Six hand pumps, of which only four were on at my visit. They were the usual suspects: Abbot Ale, Landlords and two of Sambrooks’. Which meant that I had to have my masculinity questioned by ordering a pint of red berry cider served in a stemmed glass in order to get a new rating. Food was good and served quickly. Busy on a Sunday evening. |
28 /100 Beer House Paddington (Bar) PADDINGTON STATION (PLATFORM 10) Expensive. Range not as good as hoped for craft beer pub. Music too loud! |
56 /100 Fountains Abbey (Bar) 109 PRAED ST LONDON, GREATER LONDON W2 1RL STORBRITANNIA Corner pub just up from Paddington Station, and tourist heavy on my visit, with food doing well. The beer selection wasn't too bad for a place in tourist central, with both cask and keg available, although I failed to find anything new here. Traditional in style with a wooden heavy design, it was showing the PremierLeague football in one corner. |
64 /100 BrewDog Paddington (Bar) UNIT 1, WEST END QUAY, S WHARF RD In one unit of the regenerated modern buildings at the end of Paddington Basin, this Draft House occupies a big open plan space, with a defined restaurant area at its side, although the simplicity of the furniture for this makes it feel like a naff cafe cum diner. There's 3 ale pumps offering up something from notable microbreweries with a greater craft keg selection, although perhaps a little limited in scope. There's a fair number of bottles and cans too. |
62 /100 Mitre (Bar) 24 CRAVEN TERRACE, LANCASTER GATE This is a Youngs pub, with a sign that indicates this before you arrive. It's behind the old Football Association building at Lancaster Gate, is a traditional corner pub with a heavy wooden design, with its main seating against its two window sides, and the bar against the back wall that has mostly Youngs ales, but it also had Truman Brewery guests on both cask and keg available on my visit. Fairly tourist heavy. |
40 /100 Pride of Paddington (Bar) 1 CRAVEN ROAD In a prime position close to Paddington Station, this traditional corner pub had a board offering fish and chip meals on its outside.
It must work as this place stank of fish and chips when I walked in, with every table occupied by tourist families in what looked like a complete car crash of a pub. There is a bar in here somewhere, it does have a row of cask ales, but all regulars you see in many places up and down the country. |
68 /100 Victoria (Fuller’s) (Bar) 10 STRATHEARN PLACE Just a couple of streets north of Hyde Park on the Eastern side of Lancaster Gate station, this urban corner pub is a very pleasant Fullers pub, but with very little room on the inside. The bar takes up a lot of the middle ground, with its flanks the only space for tables. Tables on the outside against its wall provide a nice outdoor space for drinking or dining as they have heat lamps. It's plush traditional on the inside with mostly Fullers cask and keg ales on offer. |
54 /100 8 LONDON STREET Corner pub run by Greene King, almost opposite another one of their pubs that hasn't so far made in on to RB. It's quite small and split level on its ground floor area. Full of tourists on my visit, but with a Greene King special amongst mostly regulars. |
58 /100 Beer House Paddington (Bar) PADDINGTON STATION (PLATFORM 10) Given there's so many very good ale and craft beer bars that have started trading in and around the principle rail stations up and down the UK, this place is a big disappointment. Its keg offerings are macro, and Greene King ales dominated the pumps on my visit (and there's at least 3 Greene King pubs flanking the roads around Paddington Station). In a decent enough looking prefab building at the end of platform 10, I guess it does offer a warm spot to wait in the winter. The bar on the right does have a fridge with a number of craft brewed bottles and cans, but I still failed to spot anything new for myself. |
34 /100 Nisa Local (Bayswater) (Grocery Store) 40-42 CRAVEN ROAD As there's a Nisa with a very good selection of local and Belgian beers in my home town of Hebden Bridge, which hasn't made it on RB yet, I was expected a lot better than what I found here. Just a few regular bottles from London micros in a fridge opposite the tills. Very disappointing. |
54 /100 Green Man (Bar) 308 EDGWARE RD This place, right next to the northernmost entrance to Edgware Road tube station was being done up in the summer of 2017 when I the last tried to get in, so had a bit more success second time around. It wasn't quite worth two efforts though, with just two cask ales available off a line of half a dozen pumps, the keg ales were nothing to shout about, but it does have a few bottles as a back up. Sadly the beer was not quite as well kept as it could have been. It's a traditional establishment with a mainly wooden decor and furniture and friendly enough. There's a hostel being run by the pub too. |
60 /100 Lord Wargrave (Young’s) (Bar) 42 BRENDAN STREET Good looking corner pub run by Youngs with a decent updated decor a row of picnic tables along its window heavy side. The bar against the back wall runs much of the length of the pub and does include a guest ale or two in cask and keg alongside the regular ones you find in London from this brewer. |
54 /100 30 SOUTHWICK STREET Under a block of flats, they give the impression this is a hotel bar with the rooms above! The look of the place compliments this with a somewhat chain appearance to this Badger pub. It serves a selection of its own ales on cask, with its bottles here too. There's a lot of hotels in the area and I got the impression the place was frequented mostly by visitors, some looking to indulge in the food available here. There's a lovely garden area you have to walk through to get into the pub. |
62 /100 PADDINGTON STATION / UPPER CONCOURSE Big Fullers house on the top concourse... |
66 /100 Beer House Paddington (Bar) PADDINGTON STATION (PLATFORM 10) Ok ...its nothing special but worth a look if you are passing through..4 handpulls on but the bottle selection is far better... |
68 /100 Swan (Fuller’s) (Bar) 66 BAYSWATER ROAD Ate lunch here, good pub food. Not very good beer selection. Not a small pub. |
