44 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Quite beyond me why this venue gets so much praise. Service was matter-of-fact acceptable, but other than that the pub is underwhelming. Not much of a vibrant atmosphere, which can be attributed to Monday being the time of my visit - ok, no complaints deserved. But then again - the design reminded me of a foyer of a two star hotel - no pub atmosphere whatsoever. 20-ish pumps and taps. I don't understand the idea behind serving a modern, dry-hopped IPA from pump other than it is meant to make it less crisp. Also the pouring installation seemed to have been infected (visited in September 2023), as three out of five beers I tried had a distinct fungus/rancid cork note. Meh. |
90 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET 10 handpumps for cask beer enthusiasts, and the draft keg offer has increased with the addition of a double bank array of taps. a good selection of bottles including non UK
Deservedly rated one of the best in the UK. |
76 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Mid 20th century pub vibe, but with a much better beer selection. Lots of excellent cask ales, good taplist, interesting cans and bottles. Prices were fairly eye watering. Enjoyed my visit. |
82 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Great pub with vibrant atmosphere, cool selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff and fair prices. Top choice… |
80 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Really nice pub in Pimlico. Not a huge place, fairly modern construction. Tables and booths with comfortable cushioned chairs. There is some outdoor seating as well. They have around 6-8 casks, as well as a number of taps. Mainly UK beers but maybe 1 or 2 imports. They also have an extensive bottle list. Really great selection. They do serve food, which I didn’t order, which seems to be mainly burgers. Definitely a place you could spend a lot of time at… |
80 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Dropped by for a beer and possibly a bite to eat on a late afternoon. But since the menu only were some burgers, I opted for two pints and later found some Fish&Chips nearby. Busy place and quite loud. Interior is more modern than your average boozer.
Beer selection really great, both the taps and in the fridges. Friendly staff behind the bar. They took the time to give great service and talk about the products they sold, rather than just handing out beer.
I recommend this place |
64 /100 14 BELGRAVE ROAD Generic Nicholson's pub, my pint was fine and at well over a fiver it certainly should have been. Unless you are on your way to Victoria station, then I would probably give this boozer a miss. |
52 /100 14 BELGRAVE ROAD Visit August 2009. |
86 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Revisited twice on Saturday 28th September 2024.
Still a excellent range of 20+ beers on cask & tap. Possible the best pub in the area regarding this, on my second visit of the day I walked from Victoria Station just to find a pub with a porter or stout on. Good friendly service & pleasant ambiance.
First visit around 2016 - I spent a couple of hours one lunch time in this pub as I was in the area. It's got a very good range of changing beers on tap & a extensive bottled beer list. It certainly has the feel of a place that can get very busy later on in the day, judging by the 30 plus people in at 2pm on a Tuesday afternoon. They only serve burgers from the kitchen, and on the pricey side. The food was good, but nothing special.
If I'm in the area again I might pop in for a beer but I would not go out of my way to visit. |
88 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Could have sworn I had reviewed this place, been here many times over the years, our first visit being in June 2002. I have to say it hasn't changed much over the years, I suppose if it works why change it. It still has the 60's style colours with a mix of oranges and lemons and they are not the fruity version. It is always adventurous on the beer front and always worth visiting, despite the prices. For Pimlico it's the only game in town for us and we will continue to visit. We have often walked from the Oval after a day at the Test, it avoids the crowds somehow. Top spot. |
84 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Lovely spot. Visited twice over the last couple of years. Would love to get back here soon. |
82 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Visit many times. |
80 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET I could have sworn that I'd have rated this place before however I guess I haven't been in here for a few years. I believe the establishment is one of the trendsetters for craft beer in London and, by default, the UK. When I first discovered craft beer and was looking for lambic ticks this was the place I came to - unfortunately I didn't ever rate these early ticks so they are not included on my Ratebeesr stats. Quite often use Victoria railway station for work so I have been here mid afternoon and found that it wasn't too busy but they never seem to lack for custom which cannot be a bad thing. My most recent visit was on a Thursday around 19:00 and the place was rammed. I ended up staying at the bar, at the far left so as not to be an obstruction. Pretty decent array of keg and pump. A couple of new brewries and I was pleased to have my first Torrside beers that were not from a bottle. Very good array in the fridges as as well but I didn't check the prices and two randomly selected US cans (Interboro and Evil Twin) came to £30 - and that's with the 33% takeout discount. So that's the main drawback here - some ridiculous prices. But people (it turns out, including me) pay them. Staff were helpful despite being busy - when I asked about some beers in the fridge he got the whole range out and talked me through them. As long as you accept the prices this is a great place - I've just been recently because newer more central places have opened. |
88 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Cool modern pub with excellent selection of beer from cask and keg, plus plenty of bottles. Good service and prices. Nice ambiance, great place to spend an evening with good quality beers. Highly recommended. |
90 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Finally made it here in my ratebeer reviewing days. Early evening on a bank holiday so pretty quiet (although there was a ridiculously sweet dog there). This place is kind of the elder statesman of the London craft beer scene as I understand it - same ownership as Craft Beer Co. but pre-dates them (and there are tons of stylistic and beer crossovers between those as well). Better bottle list, thinner keg list and broader cask list than you'll see at your average craft beer co location but the UK stuff (which is the overwhelming majority of the taps) is extraordinarily well-sourced. Agree with the broader RB community here - only better beer bar I've been to in London is the original Craft Beer Co (Clerkenwell) location.
Superb.
Did not try the food. |
90 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET So last Saturday in the country began with a train to Paddington, then a walk through Hyde Park to CASK. This was a really nice bar with a good tap list, even better bottle list, and solid food menu. The bar itself is not large, but there are a number of tables around and it was not crowded on a Saturday afternoon. The tap list ranged from locals to BA stuff from European breweries to an eclectic selection of US taps. For some odd reason they had an IPA from Humble Sea on tap here as well. Bottles included US and Euro rarities, several Cantillon and a new 3F tick for me. |
88 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Nice spacious place, huge choice of beers both from UK and rest of the world. Quite nice choice of spirits as well. Suprisingly good food and staff that now what they selling for you. |
82 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Visited 10.01.19. A good selection of ales on keg and cask, all served without sparklers. All three cask ales I tasted were in good nick. Also a good selection of canned and bottled beer with a take-away option. Excellent service - on my visit I was offered a free pie as the kitchen closed. Large open room seating. |
88 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Really cool spot. Pretty wide open big seating area. Great friendly service. Food was super good. Great take away bottle list as well. |
88 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Worth the trip down here. Nice blend of pub and bistro. Lots of cask & kegs, take away beers also an option. Did not eat, but food looked good. |
80 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Typical british pub. Nice tap selection with couple of rare special beers. Also good hamburgers. Must visit for beer while in London. |
92 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Primera cerveza del viaje! Agradable local, buena selección de cervezas tanto de barril como de botellas, trato agradable. Para repetir! |
58 /100 14 BELGRAVE ROAD Corner pub on the back south side of Victoria station, just across the tracks from the bus station. It's a nice enough Nicholson's pub with the usual selections for this chain. There's better pubs but maybe this one might prove convenient to some using the local transport connections and hubs. |
76 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET About a 10-minute walk from Victoria, so pretty convenient and central. Good selection of both taps and casks, available in 1/3, 1/2 and full pints - no flights. Decent bottle selection too, and they offer 33% off for take-away bottles. Friendly service. One of the better stops in London. Worth visiting. |
82 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Always a stopping off point when I'm in London before getting the dreaded megabus back to Aberdeen. The selection and quality of the beers always gets me coming back, usually discovering something new! Can often be busy but always managed to get a seat when I've visited. Kegs can be pricy but probably not too bad considering the area. Would like to see more London beers on tap but only a slight niggle! |
76 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Visited on January 2018. Only costumer in a tuesday morning (12A.M.). Local casks and a couple of fridges with an interesting bottle selection. Next one please! |
78 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET One of oddest locations for a craft bar ever- just there, buried beneath a Lego-like red brick residential block. Visited midweek last time and it was tumbleweed, on this occasion lunchtime Friday buzzing. But no problems getting a seat. Rag tag clientele of lunching city types, solo chick with a novel, beards, tourists, Jeff Lynne, 9 month old babies eating beer mats, longer beards, locals, hipster in ill advised pink skinny jeans, chick with trainers in a bedspread, Gandalf, septuagenarians, me and Mama. Good humming vibe like a proper local. Engaging cisterns. Shelves of Westvleteren. Dank warm casks, mostly northern. Some wild prices for the stuff in the chillers, but some of it rare and if money is such throwaway stuff for some they can/will pay, why not? Staff bending over backwards to be helpful and lovely. Immaculate, very happy chicken burgers. Top place. Only the ordinariness of the ales let it down. |
84 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Finally Cask Pub & Kitchen, visited after Beavertown Extravaganza with rest of the Croatian crew. Located in quite calm neighborhood, far from the city buzz. Large room, not too modern or too classic interior. Good selection of both taps and bottles, had no problem finding some interesting beers. Well worth visiting. |
84 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Still world class. Even my burger was top notch. |
86 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Pub with nice local cask beers and a lot of bottles (both english and international crafts, some really interesting ones). Friendly and helpful staff. Food was good too. |
92 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Easy to find, this place seems to have hit a right combo of everything. Old school vibe, traditional band actually playing when I visited, lively but not too full. Quite a big cask collection but also plenty of taps. Selection is UK forward on draft but hits the whole spectrum from classical producers to modern ones, Dark Star to Wild beer. Fair prices on keg and cask. Lots of modern stuff in bottles like Bruery Mellange 3 & some Lost Abbey, prices there are so steep (+/- £50 & £30 respectively) but this is also London. Classical food seemed available. Modern furniture, some okay space but old school feel. Overall large selection, cask beer that I had tasted amazing, great taps, live band added lots of atmosphere. Really great stuff, best place that I visited during this trip. Second favourite in London so far I would say. |
88 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Large one room pub around 10 mins walk from Victoria station. Great selection of cask & keg. Always a Kernel beer on. Nice selection of bottles in the fridge too. Staff are friendly. Some of the beers are a little pricey but it is central London. |
88 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET BA Bibble belt on tap for example, several black albert vintage 2015 bottles, 3f golden ml etc..... |
78 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Nice updated pub. Service better than average for London, but less than average for US. Best tap, cask, and bottle selection I saw in London. My bacon cheese burger and chips were very good. |
50 /100 Gallery (Bar) 1 LUPUS STREET Corner pub of the traditional ilk on the opposite side of the road to Pimlico Tube Station. It was pretty quiet in here when I visited, but it was a Monday afternoon. The disappointing beer selection might have something to do with it too. Although it sports 5 cask ales at the bar which is against the rear of its side wall, they are all the ones you see all the time, everywhere up and down the country courtesy of our most prominent UK breweries. |
60 /100 Oddbins Pimlico (Beer Store) 2 DENBIGH STREET Visited in 2015, when it had lots of London brewers bottles available. |
90 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Super place, best in London so far. Fairly large but busy place with great tap and bottle selection, including international. The later can be pretty expensive though. Good burgers. |
82 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Visited for the first time last August while renewing my passport at the nearby passport office, can certainly recommend this place as a stopover while you utilise the same day service before picking it up :) On our visit it was baking hot outside, but when we arrived here was glad to come in to a well air conditioned venue to cool off, and enjoy a refreshing beer. Was pretty quiet for a afternoon week day as to be expected. Good service and really solid selection across tap and cask, had a lovely Kernel beer of keg which went down a treat, they had some Tiny Rebel on and also tried a selection beers from across the UK from brewers I had not heard of or tried before, so certainly not only London focused (on our visit at least) overall this is a quality spot and well worth seeking out. |
86 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Modern craft beer pub. Very nice selection - cask, keg and bottles. Good quality beers. Helpful service. A bit higher prices, but worth it. |
86 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET Lovely, modern pub just outside the city center. I was there on an thursday evening and it was quite loud and crowded. Still really cosy, with enough tables.
I tried two different burgers, both were really delicious, as were the self made fries. Definitely recommended! The beer selection was really good, lots of interesting local breweries from cask and keg. Bottle selection is also interesting and they offer an discount for take away. Staff was helpful. Overall as good as expected, very good local beer and even better burgers. Among my favourite places I’ve visited in London! |
78 /100 CASK Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 6 CHARLWOOD STREET A very big pub in a decent London neighbourhood. Lots of local and imported beers both on tap and plenty more in bottles. Good advice from the barmen, was quiet on a weekday afternoon when I visited. Great stop whilst beer hunting in London. Some snacks on the board but I didn’t try them. |
