74 /100 Latona Pub (Bar) 6423 LATONA AVENUE NE Swung by on a Saturday night with the wife for dinner. Every seat full after we sat down. ~10 taps, well-curated but nothing whale-ish or anything. You'll find stuff you haven't had before but nothing that will probably blow your mind or anything.
Food was very good though, great food, good beer. |
76 /100 Press Then Press Cider Shop (Internet-based) 153 NORTH 78TH STREET Ordered a box of mixed ciders, perries and ice ciders. Good range in all the above categories. Website easy to navigate. Box was packed very well and arrived at the promised time. They also offer free local delivery (Seattle). They post specials regularly on Insta. Prices comparable to local shops. Solid source of a good range of cider from all the world's classic cider areas. |
82 /100 The Beer Junction (Beer Store) 4511 CALIFORNIA AVE SW Fantastic bottle shop with two walls of coolers, a couple of taps and a couple of booths to sit and sip. Maybe not as many barrel aged whales as northern Seattle stores but still a definite place to visit. |
84 /100 Beveridge Place Pub (Bar) 6413 CALIFORNIA AVE SW Sports and games themed pub with extensive tap list of unique beers. But the real attraction is the bottle list of vintage big beers. Need to bring some pals though to handle the large formats with high ABVs. No food just chips and popcorn. Definite place to visit. |
78 /100 Über Tavern (Bar) 7517 AURORA AVENUE N Small place with a couple of tables. Great taplist of US beers. Cooler behind bar doesn't have a bottle list but there are several unique beers worth picking up for take away. |
84 /100 Chuck's Hop Shop - Greenwood (Beer Store) 656 NW 85TH ST Interesting bottle shop with extensive and interesting tap list. A bit dark and grungy but that seems to add to the atmosphere. Great can and bottle selection which seems to be 2/3 American and 1/3 import. Getting pricey for the good stuff tho. Going to put this place ahead of Bottleworks. |
64 /100 The Yard Cafe (Bar) 8313 GREENWOOD AVE N Wood themed Mexican style restaurant with a couple of interesting taps, though nothing to go out of the way for. |
76 /100 1050 N 34TH ST Large taproom in Fremont. About 16 taps available; flights of 5 for 20USD, which is a bit pricey. Like many taprooms in Seattle children are welcome, which is unwelcome. Definitely worth a stop, especially if they have something barrel-aged on tap. |
78 /100 1108 NW 52ND ST Taproom in Ballard with about 24 house taps. Good stop for WC IPAs. Flight of 6 came to about $25 (including 3 fresh hop beers). Bar service. Definitely worth a stop in a Ballard tour. |
60 /100 5101 14TH AVE NW SUITE 101 Moderately sized taproom in Ballard. A lot of taps, mostly hazies and egregious kettle sours. My flight came to about 20USD, plus extra charges for rare beers. They had two Imperial stouts on tap, which were both excellent. If you're in Ballard, check them out for their BA stouts, but otherwise it's a ton of egregious beers. It's hard to recommend this place. |
66 /100 5010 14TH AVE NW Large Ballard taproom with about 30 house beers on tap. Beer selection is similar to the Fremont location with a few differences. Quality of the beer is a bit mixed, but generally quite good. About $20 for a flight of 6, which seems a bit much. For the price this was hard to justify. |
68 /100 1103 NW 52ND ST Large taproom in Ballard with 25 house taps, including a couple can pours. Mostly hazies and kettle sours, they had one barleywine on tap plus a BA stout can pour. All available in 5oz pours in the range of $4. There was only one person working when I showed up so it did take a while to get the beers. If they have their BA stuff on and you're already in Ballard, might as well stop by. |
82 /100 5456 SHILSHOLE AVE NW Good-sized taproom at the edge of Ballard. 16 house brews on tap, minimum of 7oz pour, unfortunately. Bar service and prices are pretty reasonable. Lots of good IPAs on tap. Highly recommend Ballars stop. |
78 /100 1550 NW 49TH ST Large taproom in Ballard with indoor and outdoor seating. About 20 taps, including 2 barrel-aged beers; beers are priced individually, a flight of 6 came to 26USD (including the two BA beers). Quality is generally pretty good, well-worth a stop. |
84 /100 936 NW 49TH ST Large taproom in Ballars. About a dozen house beers on tap, all available in a 4oz pour, ranging from 2.50 to 4USD. Bar service. The quality here is excellent, pretty much everything on tap is a well-made saison or farmhouse style. This is a requisite visit for Seattle. |
86 /100 RidgeWood Bottle & Tap (Bar) 316 N 67TH ST Taproom and bottleshop near Holy Mountain. About 40 gaps, including a few non-beer options. Flights of 4x4oz available, priced by beer. Bar service. Good selection of interesting stuff. Definitely worth a stop. |
90 /100 Chuck's Hop Shop - Greenwood (Beer Store) 656 NW 85TH ST Tap room and bottleshop with indoor and outdoor seating. About 20 taps available in individual 4oz pours or flights of 3-6. Bar service. Selection of taps and bottles/can is fantastic. About 30 min 2
Walk from Ballard, an hour from Fremont. If you're planning on sticking around those neighborhoods, this is a high-priority stop. |
74 /100 4401 FREMONT AVE N Small taproom with large patio. About 24 taps, but none of their barrel-aged stuff. About 20 USD for a flight of 6. Bar service. Quality varies. If this is a return trip, I can't see why the Ballard location wouldn't be better, but it's pretty fine by itself. |
84 /100 Bottleworks (Beer Store) 1710 N 45TH SUITE 3 Bottlesshop and taproom in Fremont. Had about 6 beer taps plus 3 non-beer options. A couple Bottleworks collapsed plus some more interesting saison/strong beers. No small pours, but half-pours are avaliable. Bottles available are awesome, tons of local fresh hop stuff, hair of the dog, barrel-aged beer. High-priority stop. |
60 /100 2536 ALKI AVENUE SOUTHWEST ## 106 Nice spot right on the beach with a sizeable patio out front. Only about 8 taps, with 10 and 16 oz pours available—nothing smaller but the bartender was happy to give samples. Not a beer geek destination by any means, but then again, their original West Seattle location isn’t really either. It remains that the Pine Box is the best place to sample these guys’ beers: plenty of taps and smaller pours available there, plus their sexier beers seem to make their way there. |
44 /100 6400 24TH AVENUE NORTHWEST I had very high expectations of this place, given that 1) I really enjoy Single Hill beers, especially their west coast IPAs and BA stouts/strong ales; and 2) I loved my visit to their Yakima taproom last summer. Sadly, I found little to appreciate at this place.
The interior is nice but, displayed outside as you walk in, "no flights or small pours; beer was not meant to be served in 4 oz pours". This is pretentious bullshit. Beer is clearly served and enjoyed in such amounts in many places -- including almost every other brewery in Ballard. Why dictate the size that beer is "meant" to be served in? Strike #1. The Yakima tasting room doesn't institute this rule -- it has flights. So, some smartass at this tasting room has felt the need to implement this nonsense and turn away would-be customers who are doing a beer crawl and wanting to sample on smaller pours.
Strike #2: smallest pour is 9 oz pours, so there's little chance of sampling a bunch of things.
Strike #3: $7 for 9 oz pours of many fairly standard beers.
Strike #4: all the IPAs/pale ales on tap when I visited were hazies; no west coasts. I sampled a couple of the hazies and they were not made well -- chalky, muddled, plenty of hopburn.
Strike #5: no dogs allowed, and they don't even have any outside seating, so if you have a dog, you're out of luck.
I definitely will not be back here unless they change most of the above. There are plenty of other places in Ballard with better policies and better beer. Don't waste your time here. |
74 /100 2536 ALKI AVENUE SOUTHWEST ## 106 Great place. Beer bar vibe, but with tasty beer. This part of town doesn't have many good places to drink, so it's a welcome addition to the west side. |
70 /100 1111 NORTHWEST BALLARD WAY As others have noted, old school, family business / restaurant feel with a brewpub attached. Beer is fine, not spectacular, not bad. Better nearby, but inoffensive. |
76 /100 2116 WESTERN AVENUE An unassuming brewery/taproom with a dozen (as of now) beers on tap and several canned options for carryout. Seating is limited, but cozy. Service and beer are good. Close to Pike Place Market and worth a stop if you're nearby. |
80 /100 Chuck's Hop Shop - Seward Park (Beer Store) 5041 WILSON AVE S Large craft beer shop/bar connected to a bookstore. The tap selection is extensive and the cooler selection is above average with mostly local/regional beers. We went late on a Sunday and the service was ok but I'd like to go on a normal night. The food was good. Some non-beer options.
The atmosphere and location are very cool/hip. Would love to see something like this in New Orleans. It was much bigger than I expected. |
86 /100 TeKu Tavern (Beer Store) 552 DENNY WAY A nice place near city center with a good tap list and selection of cold bottles to enjoy on-site or to-go. The bartender was friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. It doesn't have the history or selection that Bottleworks has, but not many bottle shops do, and it's a great alternative and closer to downtown. |
86 /100 5010 14TH AVE NW A cool taproom in Ballard with a great tap list, great service, and both indoor & outdoor seating. I didn't eat, but they do serve food. My favorite brewery in Seattle, and definitely worth a stop to one of their two locations if you're in town. |
62 /100 Watershed Pub & Kitchen (Bar) 10104 3RD AVE NE More of a restaurant than a pub or beer place. Small patio with a few shady spots. Large interior. Food was OK pub grub, portions are small, prices are high. |
80 /100 708 N 34TH ST Long bar with stools, but used mostly for serving. Bar tables. Storefront design. Wall lined with coolers of bottled and canned cider, perry, mead. Staff knew the ciders well. 30 draft ciders, half of them guests, flights of four to six available. Sadly nothing with no residual sugar although they did have a handful of dry ciders. No food. Solid place. |
90 /100 Chuck's Hop Shop - Greenwood (Beer Store) 656 NW 85TH ST Visited with Charles & mlutton. Extra large beer store, a former 7-11 or so that retains much of that ambiance but replaces industrial beer with the good stuff. Serving bar with 50 taps of incredible variety including a bunch of local ciders. A few barstools and the rest are tables. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Massive variety of bottles and cans include lots of hard to find stuff. Great atmosphere, full of outgoing beer lovers. Dog friendly. Needs a modern POS so they don't have to keep your card. Would easli be my local if I lived anywhere near here. |
68 /100 Brewtop Social - SEA-TAC (Bar) 17801 INTERNATIONAL BLVD #1-MZ Probably the best beer bar in SEA-TAC, which is a bit damning with faint praise, but as someone who lives here, can usually find a new tick here. They try, food is passable, which is good by the standards of our mildly crappy airport. |
76 /100 9832 14TH AVE SW Swung by on a Saturday evening with the kiddo, the upstairs space is really nice for kids (and was full of them). Beer was generally on point, only thing that really jumped out was a dark mild of all things, but no regrets. They do offer flights now, 4 0.1L pours (mildly tough to navigate, they're in tulips). Good spot in a bit of a dead area for breweries. |
74 /100 1550 NW 49TH ST Old Lagunitas space, the arcade is now converted to an active brewery. I'm assuming that this is going to become their mothership soon.
Anyways, I feel like Old Stove has kind of stagnated at somewhere around "good" as they've opened new locations. A good brewery is nothing to sneeze at, and the food here smelled amazing (sadly the BBQ is not ready until 4:00 and I stopped here at lunchtime on a weekend), but there are better around Ballard (but also worse). |
68 /100 Brewtop Social - SEA-TAC (Bar) 17801 INTERNATIONAL BLVD #1-MZ This is in the mezzanine of the main terminal, and there's an elevator you can take to reach it. 16 taps, one of which is Coors, but the others are mainly local and regional. LEEDS certified if that matters to you. By far the broadest selection of any place at SEA-TAC. A bit less hectic and away from the madding crowds. Good views of the apron, gates and runway. |
46 /100 17801 INTERNATIONAL BLVD. Near gate A-5, Delta long haul territory. Four taps of Mac & Jacks. No visible AB InBev presence. Cash only, no cards. |
42 /100 17801 INTERNATIONAL BLVD. Near gate A-20, Alaska Airlines territory. Four craft beers, one each from Reuben's, Fremont, Elysian & Silver City, the remainder from AB InBev. |
66 /100 The Maple Pub (Bar) 8929 ROOSEVELT WAY NE Stopped in for a quick lunch. Brunch actually. Just eight beers on tap but well chosen local stuff. Server knew them all. In an old pill box house, so it was cozy and lived in. Open fire in the front room. Tasty food. Good stop. |
80 /100 Tavour (Internet-based) 1729 1ST AVE S Just noticed you can rate Tavor. Been using them fomr last few years ... just know you are getting marked up, but I can get beers I want that are brewed semi-in region that I can only get from here without driving hours. Just be careful to not keep hitting buy buy buy, as this will add up quickly and easy. Like that I can ship any time I have more than 12 beers in my crate. Over the years I've only had 1 box go MIA and another that beer froze in - they took care if it by refunding with no issues. |
70 /100 The Last Drop Bottle Shop (Beer Store) 8016 15TH AVE NE Their sandwich board brags that they have the best beer list in Capitol Hill. I don't know about that. On my visit, The Pine Box was clearly better. Yet this a cool spot, that doubles as a bottle shop. Small curated selection of bottles: I found an old Fremont BA vintage I never tried, which was cool. Not a destination spot, especially since Capitol Hill is a pain to park at, but if you're here, definitely worth a look. |
46 /100 714 E PIKE ST Right in the heart of Capitol Hill, a block from a stir (Capitol Cider), and yet somehow I never stopped in. Well, now I know why: despite them having 16 taps and flights available, the taplist is super lame, and I couldn't find a single thing of interest for me. Nice spot, friendly service, but totally uninteresting beer-wise -- only 2-3 were Redhook beers; otherwise, the guest taps were heavy on hazies, kettle sours, and other shitty styles. Skip. |
62 /100 Skål Beer Hall (Bar) 5429 BALLARD AVE NW Cool beer bar with plenty of bottle pours meads, in the heart of Ballard's eateries, close to Cloudburst. This place is nothing special as a beer bar, although it is a nice spot. The reason to come here is for the meads, which come default in 5 oz pours, which is a lot for such a sweet beverage. Thankfully, they do flights of 3 x 2.5 oz pours for $23, which is pretty steep, especially given that these are all WA meads. Order at the bar in the back. Worth a look perhaps if you're into meads, but, if you're expecting Superstition/Schramm's level meads, you'll be disappointed in WA's mead quality. |
84 /100 1103 NW 52ND ST Not sure how I skipped this place last time I was in town. Nice sized tap room with wide range of styles from BA Barelywines, BA stouts, IPAs and sours. Single cans to go which was a bonus for the hotel room (but I paid for that the next morning). |
66 /100 1514 LEARY WY NW Run down looking building. Big outdoors, but it was winter. Had a flight and looking at the other 2 ratings, some off flavors present over a year ago and I was getting a sourness in one of their stouts. Average beer, but they did not stand out against all the other breweries in the area. I checked it off and that's about good enough for me. |
74 /100 5410 AIRPORT WAY Stop #4 of 4 of my Brewery Hopping for the day. Taproom attached to brewery ... huge location. Out of the 4 stops (Great Notion, Jellyfish & Georgtown) this place was dead. Beers were decent enough and friendly bartender, but what else did he have to do., |
78 /100 5840 AIRPORT WAY S. UNIT #201 Stop #3 of 4 Georgetown brewery hopping. Had a 6 beer flight and happy to see a Barley Wine, and a Rum Barrel Aged beer. Average to above and better than I thought it would be going into this place. |
74 /100 917 SOUTH NEBRASKA STREET Stop by on a short beer tour of Georgetown. Second stop after great notion. Decent size tap list with a bunch of bottles to go. Just got one flight though as I didn’t want to get a second with what was on the board. Everything I had was average to slightly above average I do like their logos and labels. |
80 /100 6235 AIRPORT WAY S SUITE 102 Kind of hidden behind a shop. Stop by at a Thursday, had to place practically to ourselves. Typical great notion beers that I like. Got two flights, then Headed on out. Bartender seemed kind of bored and not friendly , dreary like the rainy day. |
80 /100 1103 NW 52ND ST Pretty spacious taproom in a trendy neighborhood with a high concentration of breweries - you can actually see two other breweries from Urban Family's patio, and there are several others within a few blocks (most notably, Fair Isle) - wide variety, with at least 4 barrel-aged beer on my visit - they have a house saison, which always gets some bonus points from me - prices average to high - lots of beer to go in cans - they were playing Three's Company episodes on a huge projection screen with the sound off while I was there - I remember that show from my childhood, but when I watch it now I get serious rapey vibes from it - anyway, that is besides the point - this is a pretty nice stop, and the density of breweries around it make it worth it to stop by. |
78 /100 936 NW 49TH ST Interesting location straddling the border between a residential area and a couple blocks of industrial space - cozy little building with lots of dark wood, a wall of barrels in the back, and a small and intimate patio space - they've clearly found their niche with mixed culture and oak-aged saisons, which I am definitely here for, but may turn off the casual beer folks - prices on the draft beer are fair, but them bottles are expensive! - I think the fact that they are in an area with at least five other breweries in a few block radius is an advantage given their narrow focus in product, as one could easily walk a block to the other breweries and get some IPAs or barrel-aged beers - worth a trip in and of itself, though. |
78 /100 1421 ELLIOTT AVE W Nice taproom in what is actually a pretty shitty location - along a commercial strip, but with no parking of its own, so good luck with that - taproom itself is quite nice - spacious and clean - okay service - selection is excellent, with an assortment of lagers, belgian styles, foeder saisons, and barrel-aged beers - their beer is undeniably delicious, so they need to get additional points for that even if their location is bafflingly crappy for being so close to downtown - make the trip here despite the hassle. |
