“I dropped in here. Nice ambience but no real surprises on tap. There was a Kelham Island guest beer on tap.“

“Standard small shop unit with mostly cans from the foremost craft-brewers, some bottles exist too, including ciders. Has an extensive selection.“

“One room shop unit micropub with some oddities on its walls and bookshelves including animal heads, dead spiders and fish teeth... and books! The decor is loungy with the bar at the back, offering up a few Brew Foundation cask and keg and a few guests too.“

“White-washed corner pub in the middle of the vibrant small commercial street in Sharrow. It's a pleasant urban pub with a large open-plan seating area around an 'L' shaped central to the building bar. Here there are five cask ales (2 regulars from Abbeydale and 3 from Bradfield on my visit), but not the most eclectic of choices on my visit, but they are well-kept.“

“Two-roomed split-level open-plan micropub with the bar squeezed into the left of the front room, with half a dozen crafted ales and about the same in keg. Has a traditional looking heavy wooden design with cushioned stools and benches.“

“Decent busy evening pub with a solid tap range. If you are in the Sharrow area this tends to be easier to get a seat in than either the Porter or the Stag. However it neither has the range nor value of some pubs around Sheffield. Clientell is mainly hip and youthful on the weekend“

“Scores high on tap range but lower on value. Nice traditional pub with warm wooden deco. Owned by Thornbridge at time of writing and flaunts their wide range of taps. As Thornbridge is a brewery with an over active imagination there is something new on tap on a regular basis. Not cheap though, some beers might rock over £5 a pint. Food looks great but not tried. Always seems to be busy too, so finding a table can be a challenge.“

“Visited on 10th June 2017. Single roomed micropub on the busy Eccleshall Rd, decor is pretty nice, smart, clean and modern, bar on the right as you walk in, a good mix of Welbeck Abbey beers plus guests. Quality was good, prices and service decent. Liked the place.“

“Visited on 10th June 2017. It’s a bright, modern looking cafe bar effort, room set up for eating or drinking, plenty of space to relax in, the decor is also pretty smart. Range of beer is OK with a couple of Thornbridge beers plus a reasonable selection in the fridge, service and prices OK, Nothing of particular interest for a hardcore ticker.“

“Visited on 10th June 2017. Large Greene King pub on the busy Eccleshall Road, it’s not at the current location of the Rb map but is quite a bit down the road. It’s got several rooms, it is clean and tidy, modern decor with lots of big screens showing sports. It’s got a focus on food as well as beer, range is OK, picked up a new charity beer here with Radio X, not much else of interest on offer, prices and service OK. Wouldn’t dash back“

“Visited on 10th June 2017. Set back from the main road and a bit of an arto-deco vibe going on with the exterior, the interior is pretty nice, well looked after, definitely a hipster vibe going on. Beer range was OK, picked up an Ilkley Stout here plus had 3 Sierra Nevada beers on keg. Prices and service OK, Nice pub.“

“Visited on 10th June 2017. A couple of mins down the road from Wine Rack and the Lescar, also has the Porter Cottage over the road, a high end wine shop with a little space given over to beer. The shop is pretty nice. Prices OK, service OK, didn’t think the range here was as good as Wine Rack.“

“Visited on 10th June 2017. Small shop with a much better range than expected. Almost half the shop is given over to beer, nicely laid out, a good mix of craft beers from around the UK and around the world. All the usual suspects there, prices and service were decent. A good selection of beer.“

“Visited on 10th June 2017, micropub toward the end of Eccleshall Rd, It’s a decent sized place with some seating out front. Decor is pretty smart. Good range of beers, picked up a new Neepsend beer here, solid range of other cask beers, prices decent, service good. Really good micropub and worth a look in.“

“Visited April 2017, Sharrowvale walk. - Friendly open wine/spirits shop with a craft beer nook, tastefully presented locals and fridge where I scored a range of pricier Cloudwater fare - no DIPAs though. Noticed later that the bonus Sentinel Gose was a rare but very recent Kissmeyer collab - one of my few ongoing chases.“

“Visited April 2017 to kick off a Sheffield Brexit pub walk. - Opened early 2014 and still not on the RB index? Cozy modern micropub on busy Ecclesall with a micro-catered selection of modern Uk craft and world wines and gins & cheese and charcuterie plates to go with them. I came for more traditional bitters and porters/stout than the sleeker more modern recipes on offer, mostly tending towards APA or fruity sours at that moment, but it seems the 6 casks rotate quickly. Great location between Ecclesall and Sharrowvale with a few other beer and cheese shops around the corner.“

“Visited April 2017, easy down the road for a full Sheffield pub walk. Clean and efficient multiroom pub with terrace overlooking a brook, mixed audience of lunch patrons and regulars along central Ecclesall Rd. Had other regional cask options on to distract from the Greene King range. Maybe useful as a warmup or for food when nextdoor Micropub The Beer House has filled up...“

“Set back from the main road, but still in this commercial centre of Sharrow amongst other businesses in a very vibrant suburb. This brick pub is multi-roomed with a bar serving both of the first two rooms closest to its front. There’s not a huge amount of natural light in here, certainly not in its back room, and the venue has a most traditional look with some modern touches giving it a slightly different edge to proceedings. The best of the ales on offer on are in cask form, and there’s half a dozen to choose from.“

“On the busy Ecclesall Road heading South West out of the city, it’s a fair walk from the centre, but not a bad addition to the pubs in the decent Sharrow district of Sheffield. It’s fairly traditional in design, with a somewhat chain feel to things on the inside, however there’s a long row of ale pumps in the centre of the bar so this is a much better distraction than the not uncomfortable surroundings. There’s a mix of Greene King ales and guests to choose from, probably a keg ale or two as well. Sport is shown here and it seems to be a very popular place with the locals.“

“No more than a small shop unit converted into a microbar, it’s nevertheless a friendly and appealing set-up with the bar against the right-hand wall and the seats down the left as well as by the large front window. There’s a mix of cask and keg, with their own ales taking up the lion share of the former, but guests can be had if you’re not up for one of their own ales, which will include seasonal options depending on what times of year you are in here.“

Graze Inn (Bar)
315 - 319 ECCLESALL RD
“Almost opposite the Portland House pub, this looks like it is both a restaurant and a pub separated by a central doorway - turn left for the pub. Modern in design and fruit facing, it’s a comfortable enough place with an outdoor area between the building and the road which on a good weather day looks like a decent place to sit and sup. What you can sup is very limited here though, with Thornbridge represented in keg, and they provide a rebadged cask ale named after the pub as well, but that’s about it.“

“Close to the Lescar Hotel in Sharrow, this small shop unit in the middle of a row of businesses mainly sells wines, but there’s a small shelf worth in the corner by the window. What’s there is decent with some local and some international choices, but there’s not a huge range.“

“Attractive small pub in the pretty low-rise suburban area of Sharrow, detached from, but not too far off the hustle and bustle part of this South Sheffield suburb. It’s currently a Thornbridge pub sporting most of its currently available cask and keg options, with the odd guest available in the latter aspect, but the age of the place means it’s probably changed hands quite a few times in the past. It’s a charming traditional pub with a mostly wooden design, fixtures, fittings and furniture with a conservatory area at its side. Family friendly, it has a warm atmosphere. Called the ’Stag’s Head’ rather than ’Stag Hotel’ as it is currently listed on RB at this time of writing. Maybe Stag Hotel is as former name.“

Wine Rack (Beer Store)
341-343 SHARROWVALE ROAD
“Very solid and tick friendly beer and wine shop, among a host of other interesting independent shops in the slightly bohemian Sharrow area of Sheffield. About 250 beers from twiggy browns to £20 Cascade sours. Good place for cheap Thornbridge bottles. Two handpumps dispense cask beer for takeaway. Well worth a look, and two minutes away is StarmoreBoss, another solid beer, wine and spirits place. (Check out the deli over the road, for quality cheese, too!).“

“One roomed micro pub on a trendy, busy, arterial road just west of the city centre. White tiled walls, exposed ducting, and expensive lightbulbs. Lax housekeeping to match. (The one toilet had clearly not been deep cleaned since day one, for example). Six hand pumps and a few keg taps. The Welbeck beers are very dull and samey, although the guest beers held some interest on my visit. What I did have was in fantastic condition, though, and service was prompt and friendly. The stools in the large window offer splendid opportunity for people watching. Waterall’s pork pies available, too, which is a very good thing. More plus points than minus, and probably somewhere I’d call again when in the area.“

“Converted shop, run by Welbeck Abbey Brewery. 6 cask ales and 4 keg beers. I visited on a Saturday lunchtime when it was very quiet indeed. Could do with more toilet facilities but overall a very agreeable place to drink.“

Graze Inn (Bar)
315 - 319 ECCLESALL RD
“We visited Graze on Saturday 7th November 2015, this was our last port of call for the day as it was located quite close to where Frank (camper) was parked up. Graze is a good walk from the centre of town situated as it up some distance along Ecclesall Rd. I guess the first thing you notice is that it is quite modern, sleek bar, clean lines, wipe clean, no tat anywhere. The clientele were also a very different group than I would normally be brushing shoulders alongside, plenty of high heels, plunging necklines and Chardonnays here. The bar is ahead on the left as you enter with a food/restaurant area to the RH side as you enter. It sells Thornbridge on tap (Keg only) but only four to choose from as I recall (never checked bottles). The lighting (presumably LED) underneath the lip on punters side of the bar kept changing colour to add to whatever the image it was that they were trying to portray here. The beer was fine I had Jaipur, Loz had red wine which she said was really nice, but we didn’t like the place much, the young girl who served us was really pleasant thought. You get the impression that many of the patrons here just want to be seen, and like them this place had a plasticy false feel to it, not unlike a nightclub in some respects.“

“High end wine and spirits shop with a decent bottled beer selection. Well laid out with friendly, knowledgable owners. Beers from the likes of Nogne, Sly Fox, Thornbridge and Sierra Nevada. Prices are maybe a little higher than other new outlets in Sheffield, but it’s easy to get to, with free, short term parking bang outside. Worth a visit. Or two...“

“Stylish if minimal and monochrome new Thornbridge bar and restaurant on fashionable Ecclesall Rd. Visit was pn a warm sunny afternoon when people could sit outside and watch the world go past. But cant see it feeling very cosy in winter. Beer choice concentrates on keg beer with only 4 handpulls, but when most of the kegs are from Thornbridge themselves this is fine. Food menu looks original and exciting. But didn't get to try.“

“Another good Greene King effort in Sheffield. Cool mix of traditional and modern decor and relaxed areas to sit in even when busy. Particularly good are the window sears where you can either overlook the river (brook) of the name or watch the people pass by on trendy Eccleshall Rd. In another fashion that seems common to Greene King in Sheffield the pub offers 5 guest ales along with the regulars. Mostly these are from Abbeydale, which is no bad thing.“
