66 /100 Drink Good Beer (Bar) 3 PICKERING STREET #01-43 A small bar in Chinatown for the business folks after a hard days work in those close-by office blocks. On Pickering St which is a bit of a midweek party spot. Seating for around 30. Half of those seats are on the outside patio. Ten taps of Singaporean, Chinese HK beers when I visited. Friendly staff. Close to the Good Beer Company. Worth stopping by, particularly for the rarer Chinese ticks. |
74 /100 The Autobus (Bar) 6A SHENTON WAY, #01-01 DOWNTOWN GALLERY Cool place in the business district. In the basement of a large building and surrounded by food outlets. 45 taps from around the world but with a heavy Chinese influence. Very attentive service. 355 and 473ml pours. Typical pricing. Flights of 6 beers at S$35++ at the time of writing. Tasters available. Really impressed with their tap cleanliness. Glad I stumbled on this place! |
74 /100 2 STANLEY STREET Probably the smallest, but nicest of the three American Taprooms. The front is a nice wide open patio area which gives the place a nice feel. Nicely decorated with a brown bar feel. Seating for around 50, WiFi and 12 taps. The other two places didn’t really inspire me, but I like this place for sure. I will return. |
66 /100 JiBiru Craft Beer Bar (Bar) 313 ORCHARD ROAD An outside bar. Covered, but you might still get very wet. Seating for 40 people. 27 taps, but not all beers on offer online are available and I seriously doubt that some of their offerings are actually the correct beers. Uninspiring beer selection. Helpful staff. They prefer online ordering but it didn’t work when I was here. Nice enough place. WiFi. Standard pricing. |
46 /100 The Southbridge (Bar) 210 SOUTH BRIDGE RD Actually stayed at the hotel in March 2024. I checked out quickly the beer selection at the actually bar. As Matt said, not worht the stop as they only had crap on tap when i stayed there. Warning, it can get loud during the night (even if you are staying on 4th floor!). |
86 /100 Ziggy Zaggy (Bar) 51 KAMPONG BUGIS, #01-04 Location is a little off the center, but in a nice area just by Kallang park and Kallang river.
Bar has a rock/biker atmosphere with bands playing on Friday nights, a big graffiti murals.
Good selection of beers, 18 taps from light ale pils, to stronger double IPAs, stouts, sours.
The staff is friendly and so is the manager. I'd recommend the food as well, Loco Moco, Curry Chicken, Short Rib are signatures. DOn't miss the Wednesday chicken wings nights.
|
26 /100 50 UBI AVE 3, #01-12 Most of the beers are decent, a couple of them stands out.
Location is off center, in industrial area, not much else around.
The big NO NO is the attitude of the owner and his wife, I don't want to elaborate too much but "rude" would be too nice of an adjective. I thought it was just a bad day, but reading reviews all around the internet, it is just a steady fact.
I really wonder how this business is still surviving.Especially with many good other alternative venues in Singapore. And about local beer quality, ALIVE is way superior for example.
Don't waste your time unless you are into arguing with idiots. |
70 /100 1 TANGLIN ROAD #01-02 ORCHARD PARADE HOTEL Nice place, food was ok, they had about 20 of Brewerkz beers available. Nice selection and variety. Worth a visit for sure. Visited 14.09.2024. |
72 /100 1 FULLERTON ROAD, #01-01 ONE FULLERTON Great place 20+ on tap of Brewerkz beer, great service, food was nice. Nice outdoor as well as indoor seats. Wort a visit for sure, will come again. Visited 15.09.2024. |
82 /100 1 KADAYANALLUR STREET, UNIT NO. 01-33, MAXWELL FOOD CENTRE One of the places in the middle of Mawell Food Centre, next to Chinatown. Surrounded by numbers of food places, this is the only place tehre offering craft beer. Large selection of their own tap beers (at least 14) with some cans in the fride. Informative and helpfull staff, prices are typical for Singapore (12-14 SGD for a small one) - one of the few places inside that has card payment option. Great thing to accompany some tasty food around. |
60 /100 36 CLUB STREET Central location somewhere in the area between Chinatown and Marina. Lots of place, quite some outdoor seating too. The offer is OK, though nothing special really. |
24 /100 The Countryside Cafe (Restaurant) 71 DUNLOP STREET No sign of any craft bottles any longer. Only macro lagers on tap. Not particularly appealing so I didn’t stay. |
84 /100 Locality Craft Beers (Bar) 160 CHANGI RD, B1-10 HEXACUBE Well what can I say about this place? I’ve rated almost 1000 bars and I’ve been to a lot more! but if I’m honest, this bar has got almost everything right. They don’t have flights, but that’s ok as they sell in 475ml and the smaller 295ml glasses. The big plus here is that there is almost no markup for ordering the smaller glass. How many bars have we all been in where the markup for ordering a smaller size is outrageous?
All the taps are purely Singaporean, hence the name. Prices are lower than elsewhere in the city.
They also “politely” ask you to pay with Paynow if possible rather than insisting on it. You can also pay once at the end of the night rather than for every beer you order. There’s a lot more trust here.
They sell ready made meals for hawker prices, but have no problem with you bringing your own food in either if you want to.
Lots of seats at the bar for the singles, with a big table for larger groups. They have smaller tables around the bar plus a collection of temporary seats if you have a larger party that needs to sit at one of the smaller tables or even sit outside the bar as some people did when I visited.
They have aircon, which is set perfectly. Not too hot and not arctic cold.
There is WiFi which works and is pretty much essential as the 4G signals struggle to get down here!
Finally and most importantly, the staff here actually care. They treat you with respect and make it clear that they appreciate your business and that’s important to me. They want you to have a good time and it shows. It feels like the staff here are “one of us” and that means a lot!
They also don’t have a “last orders time” one hour before they close. They serve for as long as they legally can if people want beer and there is none of this advertising a closing time of midnight and refusing service an hour before, which is essentially a closing time of 23:00.
So many places these days try and make you feel as though you should feel grateful that they let you inside to buy a beer. This place bucks that current trend.
Nearest MRT is Eunos, or take a taxi. The place is in the basement. Don’t get lost like I did! |
78 /100 Gulp - Riverside Taproom (Bar) 7 RODYK ST, #01-30 Opened December 2023. A small and cosy taproom. Room for maybe 20 inside, with a small outside seated area too. A really awesome craft beer bar with 8 taps and more than 100 cans from around the world, but with a UK bias. Friendly and helpful staff. Well worth coming here and in such a beautiful location too. |
70 /100 1 KADAYANALLUR STREET, UNIT NO. 01-33, MAXWELL FOOD CENTRE Another good beer bar in a hawker center. !2 taps, more than half for Ren Min, and some guest SG beers. No sampler. Glass or pint available for 10 to 20S$ . Good friendly service....anfd great food. Credit card accepted. |
76 /100 Smith Street Taps (Bar) BLOCK 335 SMITH STREET CHINA TOWN FOOD COMPLEX #02-062 This is my second time here since 2016...They now have a sister location one row over from original called Smith Street Taps and Friends which features all SG breweries (the original is all imports). Service is good, selection is good but prices are...SG horrendous. 16S$ (= 16C$) for a pint! Cash or QR code only. No WIfi....but so much food as this is the top hawker center in the city state. |
80 /100 71/73 GEYLANG ROAD KAMPONG EUNOS Came here on 3.2.2024. Much larger restaurant area than in Waterloo. Also a good beer selection, not as impressive as Waterloo though. Nice ambiance, much brighter than the other location. Service was super friendly and Pizza was decent. Both tap rooms are amongst the top beer places in town! |
76 /100 Tapout Craft Beers (Bar) 103 EAST COAST ROAD Came here on 3.2.2024. A bit smaller than the other craft beer bars in Singapore, however like the ambiance. Good music and decoration. 10 beers on tap. I had an excellent Singapore Hazy IPA: Alive Brewing - Regular Stranger. Good service. If you are in the East Coast area you should visit this beer bar !!! |
78 /100 Ziggy Zaggy (Bar) 51 KAMPONG BUGIS, #01-04 Came here on 3.2.2024. Really good beer bar with 18 taps and a well balanced selection: German Lagers, Weißbiers, New Zealand IPA’s and some regional breweries. Decoration is modern and fresh and it seems to be quite popular. I stayed focused on the New Zealand IPA’s which were excellent. |
66 /100 36 CLUB STREET Came here on 2.2.2024. Locate very centrally close to Marina Bay and China town. This is the first micro brewery I am visiting in Singapore. Brewhouse visible behind tapping area. Light ambiance with some beer posters on the wall. The AC is blowing top down and is far too cold. Music is too loud and not my taste. 10 beers on tap. I had a Mosaic IPA and a Bitter Cask ale (room temperature). Both were quite ok. Service is quite slow. |
72 /100 Yeast Side - Farrer Park (Bar) 2 PERUMAL RD, #01-06 A super little bar and eatery in little India. There is a huge central arty seated area shared with other F&B outlets or you can sit inside the bar itself but seating is limited. They have 15 taps of mainly import beers. No cans or bottles. Prices are reasonable. Awesome pizzas, cake and bread are also available here. Super easy to get here as it’s right next door to the Farrer Park MRT station and a short walk of just 14 minutes to Jalan Besar MRT. Friendly service. Is it worth making a special journey up here if not in the area? Yes absolutely. |
76 /100 8 RODYK ST, #01-05/06 A recently opened bar at the picturesque Robertson Quay. They have outdoor seating by the river for around 30 people and air conditioned seating inside for a similar number. A solid selection of Belgian beers. Happy “hour” is from opening until 7pm where it’s two draft beers for the price of one, which is a good deal for Singapore. Otherwise, prices are reasonable for the location. Working WiFi and helpful staff. Popular with the expat community. Worth stopping by on a sunny day in particular. |
74 /100 BLOCK 25A, #01-01 DEMPSEY ROAD A pretty large brewery taproom located in an old colonial building. They had just eight of their own beers on tap when I visited (no specials) plus around 15 bottles. It’s a really beautiful open plan restaurant for sure and it’s probably worth spending an evening here, but it’s not really the beer destination it once was and this place is more like an expensive restaurant these days that just happens to sell beer. Working WiFi and very helpful staff. Could not fault the service at all. There is a car park out front as getting here any other way isn’t so easy without including a decent walk as part of your journey. All orders need to be made online where you need to create an account and log in, which is super annoying but part of life these days I guess. I ordered the RedDot Burger at 32 Dollars and I was very disappointed. The patty was clearly very cheap and chewy. I had a McDonald’s double cheeseburger three nights before that was substantially better than this. Only last night I had a burger in a different beer bar for just 8.50 which was superb. Why do places like RedDot think they can charge outrageous prices for very average food? Overall I had a good time though, which was mainly down to the staff that served me. Dog friendly. |
68 /100 OLD AIRPORT ROAD FOOD CENTRE #01-144 A slightly smaller version of the Maxwell Food Court outlet with just 8 taps of mainly Ren Min beers and around 30 cans. Reasonable prices for Singapore as always. Well worth stopping by if you are in the area. It’s right at the end of the food court and therefore easy to miss. |
68 /100 261 JOO CHIAT RD A super restaurant and taproom for 1925 beers on the super hip Joon Chiat. A small place with lots of character and a small patio out front for those people that like the elements. They have 8 taps and when I visited, 7 of those were from 1925, including a few specials. It’s a long walk from the city centre but not unpleasant. Otherwise a Grab is the only way here unless you like buses and lots of changes. Worth coming. Lovely ambience and local ticks. |
78 /100 71/73 GEYLANG ROAD KAMPONG EUNOS A super taproom with 40 taps of mainly US and European beers plus 35 bottles and cans. The place has a clean, rustic warehouse feel. Not the place to come if you want to drink local beers but a nice place to chill and close to the national Stadium. Working WiFi and helpful staff. |
66 /100 Canjob Taproom (Bar) 50 TIONG BAHRU ROAD #01-03 A super little taproom at Tiong Bahru with 6 taps and around 15 bottles. A nice mix of US, UK, Belgian and local beers. The air conditioned taproom itself has seating for around 20 people with outdoor tables either side of the bar. Working WiFi and friendly owner. Cold beer! Bar snacks are available. Reasonable prices for Singapore. A short walk from Robertson Quay but perhaps a taxi ride from anywhere else in Singapore. While you are here, take a walk around Tiong Bahru too. |
64 /100 Orh Gao Taproom (Bar) 10 JALAN SERENE, SERENE CENTRE #01-03 A great modern taproom with seating for 60 indoors to enjoy the airco and another 40 sitting outside and exposed to the elements. They have 12 taps of mainly Australian and Kiwi beers with a decent can / bottle selection. Food is available but I didn’t eat. Service is good and there is working WiFi. It’s close to the Botanic Gardens MRT station, so really easy to reach from the city centre or following a visit to the Botanic Gardens. One final comment, 30 minutes before their advertised closing time they told me in a rather unfriendly manner that my last small beer could only be served in a plastic cup and that I welcome to drink it outside? They clearly don’t appreciate their customers as much as they should. |
68 /100 63 CHULIA STREET, #01-01 A standard Singapore beer bar in the financial district and close to Boat Quay. Plenty of aircon inside and a large terrace at the front. Good service. Decent draft selection from Beerfarm. |
64 /100 The Tavern (Bar) 335 SMITH ST, #02-058 A small beer bar in a hawker centre occupying the former location of Mikkeller Singapore and many other bars before that. They have 10 taps and around 20 cans of mainly European beers. Nice enough place but they never have much to interest me beer wise and I’d probably never come at all if they were not next door to Smith Street. |
66 /100 MALT Craft Beer Bar (Bar) 302 BEACH RD Came here on 22.8.2023. Small main street beer bar. 10 draft beers on the menu, 3 were sold out. A few good IPA’s mainly from the UK available. Pizza you can order and will be delivered from the neighbor. Service was attentive. Will come back as walking distance to JW Marriott Southbeach. |
74 /100 Good Luck (Haji Lane) (Bar) 9 HAJI LANE Great bar. My buddy Charlie C recommended it and he didn't steer me wrong. It's on Haji Lane where loads of Singaporeans get shitfaced on a street literally named after a Muslim pilgrimage. Oh the irony. Good people there, good beer, good luck apparently. TSBP beers are average-plus. Good scene. Prices are high but it's Singapore so that's life. |
46 /100 1 KADAYANALLUR STREET, UNIT NO. 01-33, MAXWELL FOOD CENTRE Interesting place in Maxwell Food Center in Singapore. It’s in a hawker center with shite ambiance, so this also has the same ‘biance. Service is uninterested and they will give you the tiniest samples but no flights (boo). You can tick RMB (not the Chinese currency) or guest beers. You just have to do it, man, you know you want to tick. Good food there at the other stalls too. |
44 /100 180 ALBERT STREET Visited February 2020.
Not very pleasant place - only crowded outside sitting, only two "Czech" beers in bad quality. Just place tick. |
78 /100 Malthouse (Bar) 685 EAST COAST ROAD Came here on 21.12.2022. Was on my way to the airport and stopped in this beer bar at the East Coast. Located in a residential area. 20 beers on tap including Brewdog and beers from Hong Kong and Australia. Friendly and fast service and quite nice ambiance. Patio outside. Had a Pizza which was quite good. One of the better places in Singapore for sure. |
64 /100 JiBiru Craft Beer Bar (Bar) 313 ORCHARD ROAD Came here on 17.12.2022. Small outside beer bar at Orchard Road. A few outside tables in front of the bar. You can order online. Roughly 20 beers on tap and a few cans. Many Brew Dog beers. I had a Hitachino Nest Dai Dai, which was well tapped. Japanese food was ok, not great. |
72 /100 1 FULLERTON ROAD, #01-01 ONE FULLERTON Came here on 16.12.2022. Second location of the Brewerkz chain I am visiting. Very friendly service still serving us beers after closing time. Not sure why in this area most of the bars are closing at 10:30 pm on a Friday. Fantastic view from the beer garden overlooking Marina Bay. Very solid beers. Had an IPA. |
80 /100 Almost Famous (Bar) 30 VICTORIA STREET, #01-06, (CHIJMES) Came here on 5.11:2022. A modern beer bar with a great draft selection (smaller than American Taproom but more exquisite). Stone beers on the list I have not even seen in San Diego. Located in a nice surrounding with many bars and restaurants. Service was above average. So far my favorite beer bar in Singapore. |
74 /100 261 WATERLOO STREET #01-23 Visited on 3.11.2022. Small beer bar with an excellent beer selection. 32 draft beers from Singapore, US, UK, Belgium and Australia. Was focusing on the local stuff from Lion brewery and Brewlander. Quite good. They have a Duchesse Chocolate cherry on tap ! Small bar in front of the tap area, not very convenient. This place would benefit from a face lift, but most importantly beers are in good shape. |
72 /100 3 PICKERING ST #01-30 NANKIN ROW Located in China Square, not far from the river and not far from Chinatown. A classic Singapore beer bar. Not too pretentious. Lots of wood and concrete indoors with a classic Chinese Singaporean look in the covered terrace out front. They have 20 taps and around 50 bottles / cans. Some nice tap beers but they could do with a little less Brewdog. Friendly staff. This is one of those Financial District bars that doesn’t open at weekends, Monday to Friday only. They have a small canned selection of Singaporean beers too which was nice to see. Nice to hang out here. I will be back! |
78 /100 36 CLUB STREET The home of Singapore’s Lion brewery, occupying the former home of Little Creatures Singapore. A rather large and nicely decorated interior with lots of wood, concrete and carpet. They also have a nice terrace out front, often occupied by a wunch of bankers spending their annual bonus. They have 24 taps and three hand pumps. It’s good to see cask ales here in Singapore. Working WiFi and super friendly and helpful staff. Not the cheapest of places, but this is Singapore. 180ml pours are available for 8.50 plus. Happy hour is until 7pm daily when you will receive a 20% discount on pints. A tickers dream! |
70 /100 1 FULLERTON ROAD, #01-01 ONE FULLERTON Brewerkz latest outlet overlooking the awesome Marina Bay. Probably the best location for a bar anywhere in the world! There is a decent sized indoor area with seating for around 100 and a popular outdoor terrace too overlooking the bay. They have 16 taps and one cask pump. They have more taps for future growth, but maybe 16 is enough. Working WiFi and helpful staff. Horribly expensive beer and food, but that’s Brewerkz and you are paying for the location in this case. Worth a visit. |
74 /100 Byd by 1826 (Sevendaze) (Restaurant) 33/34 BOAT QUAY 1826 have taken over the old location once occupied by RedDot, but there is apparently no connection between the two organisations. A super trendy modern bar with lots of wood and a white marble bar. Lots of green plastic flora and fauna hanging from the ceiling. Overlooks the magnificent Boat Quay. They have up to eight of their own Sevendaze beers, although don’t expect all to be available. Flights of four beers are available for 19 Dollars. No WiFi. Friendly and helpful staff. Prices are more than reasonable for both beer and food given the breathtaking location. A lesson for a few other places in this overpriced city. Well worth stopping by to soak up the location and for a few cheap ticks. The beer isn’t world beating but it’s perhaps a little better than the RedDot beers once served here. |
60 /100 Good Luck (Haji Lane) (Bar) 9 HAJI LANE Update August 2022.
I’ve been coming here since it opened, but in 2022 the place came under new management. The WiFi still works and the staff are friendly and helpful, but the beer must now be the some of the most expensive in Singapore. They now only serve beer in US pints and prices are much higher. The bar has also lost the 60+ cans and bottles that they once had. The local Singaporean draft beer selection is still the same, but it no longer has that welcoming beer bar feeling. It feels like they just want to suck my wallet dry. 200 Dollars for 6 "small" beers, two soft drinks, some prawn noodles and a portion of French fries? It breaks my heart that I will never return. Outrageously expensive now and comparable with highest priced, City Centre, riverside locations.
Original Rating.
Visiting the amazing Haji Lane is enough of a reason to come here alone. The street art in this area is breathtaking. The bar has 8 taps and more bottles than you could drink in a month. The bar is small and seats around 10 people in air conditioned comfort. There is also a small patio area outside for another 8 to 10 people. The tap and bottle selection is a little different to what you might see elsewhere in the city and there is a big Heart of Darkness focus. A real quirky place. Don’t come to Singapore without visiting Haji Lane and the Good Luck Beerhouse! Working Wi-Fi and great service. |
70 /100 1 KADAYANALLUR STREET, UNIT NO. 01-33, MAXWELL FOOD CENTRE Ren Min occupies the old Third Culture location and nothing much has changed. They have 12 taps, including a number of local beers plus one or two of their own collabs, as they now consider themselves to be a brewer. There are a few cans too in a small fridge but nothing was outstanding. The loyalty scheme seems to have disappeared. Reasonable prices. WiFi in the food court. Average beers here but the overall experience is enhanced by the better quality food court options and the later food availability. I will remain a loyal customer! |
54 /100 1 TANGLIN ROAD #01-02 ORCHARD PARADE HOTEL Came here on 26.4.2022 during a 1 day stop in Singapore. Located close to the Regent hotel. Brewerkz is a chain of brewpubs in Singapore and Indonesia and opened already in 1997. We were sitting on a large outdoor patio at Orchard Rd. About 8 beers on tap. The Westcoast IPA was not too bad. The place is lacking atmosphere inside and outside. |
48 /100 O’Leary’s (Bar) LEVEL 3, TERMINAL 1, CHANGI AIRPORT Visited on a Monday evening in February 2020. 4 beers on tap, good service. But a rather dull place to be honest. |
