66 /100 G/F, SUNGIB INDUSTRIAL CENTRE, 53 WONG CHUK HANG ROAD, WONG CHUK HANG Decent place, good beers, funky glassware. Worth a stop. |
68 /100 Africa Coffee & Tea (Restaurant) SUITE 1501, 15/F, 41 HEUNG YIP ROAD, WONG CHEUK HANG This posh African-theme restaurant / cafe is located near the Wong Chuk Hang MTR station, which serves fine coffee and exotic dishes from Ethiopia, Uganda and across the continent. It has 2 large dining area for public as well as reserved functions, while the view for Nam Long Shan area is fantastic. Its beer and cider selection is limited and expensive (due to import tariffs), but they are all sourced from across the continent by the shop owner so if you are aiming for random African country ticks, as well enjoying a relaxing atmosphere for African food and coffee, then this is the place for you. |
84 /100 G/F, SUNGIB INDUSTRIAL CENTRE, 53 WONG CHUK HANG ROAD, WONG CHUK HANG Wonderful space that’s been created at Young Master’s Brewery. The tasting room has bottles available for takeaway along with growler and crowler fills. Drinking on site isn’t allowed due to HK laws but tasters OK to help decide what to purchase. The large production facility is hard to miss at the back. The oak barrels and foeder add a touch of class to an already cool space. Keep an eye out for the jars of spices and fruit soaking away for future batches. Well worth a visit and now there’s an MRT stop opened nearby for convenience. |
46 /100 Smuggler’s Inn (Restaurant) G/F, 90A STANLEY MAIN STREET, STANLEY We visited this pub on 30.6.2014. It’s located at the main street of Stanley directly on the beach. Very small English style pub with a lot of atmosphere due to it’s unique decoration. Unfortunately beer selection is very mainstream. |
60 /100 Cafe Grouchos (Restaurant) 20 STANLEY MARKET ROAD, STANLEY We visited this beach bar on 30.6.2014. We were amazed to find such a large beer variety here. Apart from many Belgium beers they had a pale ale from Israel and a lager from Estonia. They even provide the right glasses for most of their beers. We did not have food, but menu looked really good (vast selection of burgers) and also prices are reasonable. It’s a very relaxing place with a great view to the sea. Really enjoyed the Sunday afternoon we spent here. |
78 /100 G/F, SUNGIB INDUSTRIAL CENTRE, 53 WONG CHUK HANG ROAD, WONG CHUK HANG A new micro brewary located within an industrial idea at the southern tip of Hong Kong. The tap room is open to public during weekend afternoon twice a month (check their Facebook page for updates). I visited there to try out some of their regular brews and it’s worth it. The tap room is spacey with 15-20 seating capacity. 4 regular brews (Classic, Rye Old Fashioned, Siu Sauvin and Island 1842 IIPA) and a seasonal (Mo Mo Wit) are available. Mohit the owner / brewer is friendly, hospitable, experienced and knowledgable in what he does and it shows: all 5 brews are fresh, tasty and distinctively West Coast dry hoppy. Lots of unique ideas incorporated with traditional styles, with the standouts include Rye Old Fashioned (brown ale with rye malt) and Siu Sauvin (wheat ale with Nelson Sauvin). The best being Island 1842, a right on target IIPA. The tap room also sold 2L growlers, drink wares, T-shirts and souvenirs. With tasty brews, relax and friendly atmosphere. This long trip to Aberdeen (HK) is well worth it! |
