“Located by the banks of the River Stour. Public transport access via the 93 bus service from Colchester to Ipswich. Only 2 cask pumps but excellent keg and bottled beer ranges. Hops are grown outside, which are used to make Adnams "Wild Hop", which served as an excellent accompaniment to my meal. Food very good, and food and beer pairing is done here. Service is outstanding, the atmosphere and friendliness is great. Strongly recomend a visit to this pub.“

“I was informed about this gem by Justin Mason a few months ago. I had planned on visiting but it wasn’t until my seasonal Suffolk brewery trip that I could. Also it’s out-of-the-way for me as I am a non-driver and I believe public access is limited. Well I’m very happy that I went. The food is excellent. Way above average pub fair. They are closer for what I experience in world-class places abroad such as Bir et Fud than anything domestically. Really nice source and perfectly cooked gnocchi with beer pairings - yes BEER pairings - suggested on the menu. The prices across the board were generally very fair and competitive. The keg offering on tap was excellent. I had a Lagunitas’ ’Sucks’ which is distributed by Adnams. This was fresh and with all the right piney; tropical; floral and perfume characteristics I expect from a top pale ale. They also had a wonderful bottled list such as many gueuzes from Belgium; trappist ale; Orval; etc. The glassware range was pretty good but a few were missing. This is rare feat in rural Suffolk! I was very happy with my time and wished that a pub like this would open near my home as I would be in it rather a lot! Thanks to Ed for the wonderful afternoon spent here. “
