74 /100 159 MAIN ST 2024-01-03. Friendly service, cafe like vibe with tiles in the walls. Comparatively small seating area. BYO food - they let us know we could bring in food from a neighbouring restaurant if we wanted. Pretty empty mid-afternoon, it was busier when we walked by later. Nice spot overall. |
76 /100 40 HANNA AVENUE #SUITE G1 2024-11-09. Came for dinner early on a Saturday night. Sat downstairs at a high top table with the dreaded metal stools. Downstairs is okay, lots of brick, metal and concrete but nicer than that probably sounds. Picnic tables near the kitchen and TVs with sports on. Upstairs is a bit more polished and more restauranty. Brew kit is visible downstairs, the fermenters are upstairs. Bathrooms sort of have an old school ballpark feel. Modest sized patio outside for warmer months. Ordering on the website from QR code worked pretty well. Good number of taps in a range of styles. We tried a bunch of new to us beers tonight and I enjoyed my first flight more than the second, though that’s partly just personal taste for me. The core beers are typically pretty reliably okay to good. Definitely worth a stop if in the area. I expect a fun spot to watch a game as well.

80 /100 Thirsty and Miserable (Bar) 2102 DUNDAS STREET WEST 2024-10-12. New location on Dundas is significantly bigger than the old one. Longish bar, with tables and seating in the back. Don't love the bar stools but they are the same metal ones you see many other places. Smallish but solid tap list with a good mix of Ontario craft beer on tonight in a good mix of styles. Very good selection of cans and bottles with several out of town Ontario breweries represented including Tooth and Nail, All My Friends, Dominion City and more. Friendly owner and staff. Enjoyable music mix skews towards hard rock and metal tonight. Close to Bandit if you want to make a pub crawl of it. Great spot, and I am glad to see it re-open in it's new location. |
86 /100 1042 QUEEN STREET EAST Spacious place with a front that seems focused on food (brunch) and whatnot...a big horseshoe bar, too. And there's a brewery in the back half of the building. It's definitely an unusual setup. Friendly service, like get to know you immediately sort of thing. You feel like family.
But here's the thing. This is a top 3 brewery in Toronto, and Toronto has a lot of really good breweries. You don't know their beer because they don't ship, but the beer is fantastic.
What blows my mind is that the bottles are half price on Sunday... they are $10 normally so $5 on Sunday...this is for beers that clock 4.0+ for me on RB. They are giving this gorgeous beer away for fucking free. Big thanks to t-bo for alerting me to this establishment. |
72 /100 Duke's Refresher St Lawrence (Restaurant) 73 FRONT STREET EAST 2024-08-10. 40 taps and some cans, plus a house collab cider with Duxbury on the menu. Tap list doesn't have much in the way of rarities but
lots of decent stuff to drink like GLB, Bellwoods, Town, etc., along with more macro offerings. Mix of tables, mostly high tops where we were.
There were bouncers at the door on a Saturday night and it got quite busy by the time we left. Lots of games, pinball, a mini basketball court. Food menu looks decent but we didn't sample it. It was a fun place to drink and hang out. If you are looking for a less bustling spot C'est What a few doors down is possibly a better bet. |
64 /100 484 FRONT STREET EAST 2024-08-10. Sort of a neat space with a baseball scoreboard style menu. Very long L shaped bar (V shaped? Corner!). Stools and tables all have chairs with backs with is great. Good sized patio but we opted for AC. Fairly quiet on a Saturday afternoon. 7 of their own taps and a cider available today. Beers are okay. Server is friendly. HVAC system is so loud by our first window seat that we moved. Bathroom stall is cramped - my butt set off the hand dryer while peeing. We shared a poutine for a snack that was pretty decent - using chicken gravy which I am not entirely sure if I have had before. It's worth a visit if you are in the area but the beer isn't quite enough to tempt me back regularly. |
64 /100 839 RUNNYMEDE RD 2024-07-13. Small tap room, a few tables and a foosball I think based on the sound. I meant to confirm when I walked by and forgot. Some TVs with the Canada v Uruguay match on tonight. Good sized patio. Main part of the patio and the main tap room are closed for a wedding today but seem a little more polished than the smaller room. 12 taps in a mix of styles. Beers we tried were just okay. Worth a visit if in the area. We might give it another try if in the neighbourhood but it's out of the way enough for us that we probably wouldn't make a special trip again. |
74 /100 The Alpine (Bar) 2872 DUNDAS ST W 2024-07-13. Nice spot, long bar. Comfy booths down the wall. TVs behind the bar. Good sound track, friendly staff. Solid tap list. 20 or so taps. but not very ticker friendly - beers come in 20 oz and 1L LOL! Food menu looks good and the table next to us smells great but we were eating elsewhere. Karaoke and D and D notes. Mostly family’s with kids this early. It's a bit warm inside today. Worth a visit.

66 /100 STOCK T.C. / STOCK BAR (Grocery Store) 2388 YONGE ST. 2024-07-07. Grocery store on the ground floor, restaurant / bar on the second and a very nice rooftop patio on the third. It is pleasantly cool and shady on the patio today when it’s much warmer at street level so that was nice. They have a short beer list that apparently doesn’t warrant printing on the menu but the house lager is actually surprisingly decent. (Apparently its from Krombacher according to our friendly server.) Menu and food at other tables looks very good. We were eating elsewhere so just had drinks and a very tasty bread basket for a snack. The grocery store downstairs had a modest selection of beer from Burdock, Blood Brothers and Italian brewery Birra Nova. We enjoyed our visit and I would come back to eat on the patio, but from a beer geek perspective I am not sure I would go out of my way to visit unless you are coming to visit the grocery or eat. |
72 /100 700 QUEEN STREET EAST 2018-08-26. Long space is larger than I had pictured. Friendly server. Bar stools on one side tables on the other. Tanks visible in the back. Giant TV is not on when we arrived. Brunch menu looks good but we aren't feeling hungry enough for it. 8 of their taps plus two guests available today. Beers were mostly all decent to good with one standout and and one dud today. Tables are closer together than my preference but that's not uncommon, and wasn't an issue on a quiet afternoon. |
64 /100 LCBO Store 511 - King & Spadina (Beer Store) 415 KING STREET WEST Very good selection, worth looking. |
86 /100 WVRST (Restaurant) 609 KING STREET WEST This is the one place I picked to visit with my sister and my brother before Tuesday’s game, nearby the stadium, they have BFM and Terreux, nice sampler plate, I wasn’t disappointed. |
76 /100 Bar Hop (Bar) 391 KING STREET WEST Tumbled on it on sheer luck, some private imports. |
50 /100 255 BREMNER BLVD. Landmark place, visited after the aquarium with my sister and my brother, nice place. |
70 /100 Beertown Public House - Toronto (Restaurant) 40 UNIVERSITY AVENUE, UNIT 1 Tumble on the place after the baseball game on Monday, visiting with my sister and brother, nice selection, yet nothing rare. |
66 /100 2125 DUNDAS STREET WEST Was here a while back. Nice big open place with a big patio for the summer. Beer was ok. Was in my old hood, though after I moved out. Beer was average in quality at best. |
80 /100 Beertown Public House - Toronto (Restaurant) 40 UNIVERSITY AVENUE, UNIT 1 2024-05-20. It's a holiday Monday afternoon and remarkably chill despite the fact that the location is fairly close to the SkyDome where the Jays will be playing soon. I suspect we got there at just the right time and it probably gets MUCH busier. It's a pretty big space. Fairly comfortable booths and seating. Bar seating has proper chairs with backs and not those awful metal stools that seem to be ubiquitous everywhere else. Significantly large tap and bottle list in a range of styles. How much it interests the hardcore beer geek will likely vary. We got a flight and I didn't like most of the beers but that's on me for choosing new to me stuff. There were other options I would have enjoyed more available! Service was friendly and very good. I had the special which was "Hawaiian tacos" which were very good but I didn't really need the fries that came with them. Mabel's mac and cheese was also very good. Decor wise it's nice enough - it feels very similar to a lot of similar large spaces trying to feel cozy and lived in despite being a fairly recent remodel, with relatively comfortable tables that feel calculated to be just far enough away from each other to maximize the number of seats. I liked it, I'd go back if in the area, and the location is great for people spending time downtown but places like Bar Hop or Volo have just a bit more well worn charm for me.

70 /100 71 SUNRISE AVENUE A nice surprise.. Located in an industrial sector in the East end of Toronto, the taproom is nicely decorated, old school, L shaped bar with seating, tables, and 2 comfie sofas. About 8 taps of good beers... The IPAs and Baltic Porter were solid. Flight of 4 for a bit less than 15. No food. |
38 /100 STOCK T.C. / STOCK BAR (Grocery Store) 2388 YONGE ST. This convenient Eglinton-Yonge area grocery store lets you buy single beers including imports and drink them right there with whatever you choose to eat, or dine with, from morning to night. Many local favourites plus imports not in the LCBO, and no tip needed. |
74 /100 1154 ST CLAIR AVE W 2024-02-21. Seating for 30 or so people? Mostly at three long communal tables with five or six seats at the bar. It feels a bit spartan yet cozy at the same time. The beer themed wallpaper is great. Beers tend to be lagers well executed, and are pretty consistently decent to good. Definitely worth a visit for lager fans, location is slightly out of the way depending where you are coming from.
|
74 /100 159 MAIN ST A bit obscure, in the SE end of Toronto, not easily accessible for most of the city. Their beers are also only found here, officially. The three I tried were all competent, average overall but worth drinking. The pils was good enough to buy cans of for friends. The brewer and his wife are the staff, they tell me they have others to help. The environment is small, but well thought out. Worth a stop. I'll be back as they put together drinkable styles. |
72 /100 Bar Volo (Bar) 17 ST.NICHOLAS STREET New dig, focus on serving taps and cask at right mixtures. Bigger with outside tables in the summer but can get busy at nights. Good selection of guest taps. |
72 /100 777 DUNDAS ST W 2023-10-26. Nice spot. Stopped in early on a Thursday evening and it was relatively quiet. Good size patio but it's a bit cold for that. Someone was filming an interview in a corner booth which made for a bit of a surreal experience. Sampler flight was a bit pricey - I would have gotten better bang for buck with the happy hour pint pricing - but I knew that when I ordered so I can't really complain. Service was fine. Worth a visit if you are in the neighbourhood but I am not sure if it would tempt me to make a special trip again very often. |
74 /100 6 DENISON SQUARE 2023-10-26. Nice little shop with a larger selection of beer than I was expecting to be honest. It's beer to go only. You can look over into the brewing area. Some snacks and non-alcoholic options as well. Worth a visit if you are already in the market, need some cans to go, or specifically looking for Burdock products. |
60 /100 71 SUNRISE AVENUE Medium small taproom. Not very busy but planning to have some events including official opening party. Run-of-the-mill lineup now but listening and doing small barrelling. Inexpensive. Has a solid English red ale and a bold witbier with Persian lime both worth a try. WIll revisit as only a couple months brewing there. |
76 /100 11 LOWER JARVIS STREET, UNITS 5-8 2023-09-10. Good amount of seating that has proper chairs with backs, which is great to see these days. Friendly servers. Limited food menu but it all looks good. Acoustics are not great - music is loud and echoey with few people here today. Beers are generally good as you'd expect from GLB. Pepperoni pizza was excellent and big enough to share depending how hungry you are. Bao was delicious, but a bit smaller than I expected. Most people won't know or care, but they have dots on the windows to avoid bird collisions which I think is a nice touch.

74 /100 71 SUNRISE AVENUE 2023-07-02. They have only opened recently and were waiting on their license for serving full pours (which I think should have come in by now) so this is a very early rating - we will need to come back. Super friendly staffers were happy to talk about the beers and the history of the company. The five beers we tried were all surprisingly solid - they lean more towards accessible than assertive on the flavour profile than my own preference, but for a new brewery the fact that I would happily drink all of them again is a pretty good hit to miss ratio! Decor is still in progress. They have a nice set of seats at the bar, and a bigger space that they are working on rolling out eventually. Worth checking out. We made it a bit of a day out with lunch at El Sazón de la Tía Flor between stops at Goldenfield and Muddy York. |
74 /100 21 TANKHOUSE LANE Small Taproom with Merch, you can sit at the bar or next to barrels. Flights of four are available, friendly staff. When you’re visiting the Distillery District, give it a try. |
68 /100 55 BLOOR ST. WEST 2023-06-16. Stopped in for lunch on a Friday and it was unexpectedly quiet. It was a bit dark inside to the point where I questioned if they were open. It's an odd mix of classy and sleek meets dungeon. $10-12 for a flight of 3 or $22 for a flight of 6. I had the gnocchi con burro e funghi and it was richly delicious; the plate was a bit smaller than I had hoped for the price. In fairness it's probably about what I should have expected given the quality and the environs. I grabbed a couple of cans to go - I would have bought more but was conscious of the weight in my bag. Overall I enjoyed my experience - and it's nice to be able to get Indie's beers downtown but I found it a bit less cozy than the original and the price points are such that it will likely be an occasional indulgence rather than a regular visit. |
62 /100 151 E LIBERTY ST 2023-06-04. Interesting spot sort of tucked around a corner in Liberty Village. 9 taps plus can pours today. Smallish but nice patio is very sunny today. Service is okay. Sandwiches look interesting but pricey. We had some tasty pretzels. Beers were mostly just okay. The number of dogs are great and adorable but barky. Metal music playing is fun but was way too loud at first - it eventually got turned down - but between the music, the dogs, and being a bit tired my brain was a bit exhausted in the end. Overall a bit of a mixed bag, but I am not sure how much that was them vs. me. I'd come back to give it a second chance if in the area.
|
72 /100 301 LANSDOWNE AVE. 2023-06-04. Quiet with few people on a Sunday afternoon. Food menu is pizzas and empanadas only today, no tacos. Mushroom pizza from General Assembly (I assume from frozen given the availability of those, but could be wrong) was excellent, empanadas just okay. 9 beers on tap, and a cider from Revel, available as 8oz, 16oz pours, or flights of four. Small patio outside. Friendly server, decent playlist. Nice bright space is a touch warm indoors for me today but shadier than the patio. Beers are all okay but none particularly impressed. Interestingly the beers all have a particularly smooth mouthfeel. Malt bags as art panels is fun. Long bar and lots of seating. Some of the seats have backs which I appreciate. Nice spot overall, and worth a visit but the beer wasn't quite enough tempt me back unless I was already in the neighbourhood.
|
58 /100 255 BREMNER BLVD. Visited on October 2022. Great location on old train depot, nice ambience, very tasty pils in filtered and unfiltered version, but only this one on tap. Still worth to try |
28 /100 LCBO - 1900 Eglinton (Beer Store) 1900 EGLINTON AVE. Bit better than run-of-the-mill LCBO, out Scarborough central way. Problem is, the government run alcohol has lowered its care for beer. You will get a regional beer for something quaffable, but check the canning date. |
58 /100 28 BATHURST ST Cool place this stack martet is. Brewpub is at very end, durning lunch time only few folks were around. Not craft beer joint per se bur Belgian Moon was not bad for what it is...pairing with positive vibe and superb views = cool place to chilax when you are with non beer geek friends. |
62 /100 151 E LIBERTY ST In nice part of west down town. Loud music playing, not super busy. Only 3 beers to go, have samples. Service was polite but does not thank for service. I would return if around but not destination per se. |
54 /100 LCBO Union Station (Beer Store) 65 FRONT STREET WEST Smallish LCBO located right inside of central part of Union Station (C level). Despite is smallish size I spotted few local one offs . Selection better than one might expect. Service - busy place with no time for polite it seems. Value decent as per LCBO pricing. |
70 /100 839 RUNNYMEDE RD Decent environment, room to spread out on tables. Many locals still not aware of the place. Beer is average, they are successfully trying some different styles to make it worth a stop. Reasonable prices for Toronto. |
68 /100 151 E LIBERTY ST Industrial like place, in Liberty Village, short walk from The Craft taphouse. OK to stop in, the beers are on the sugary sweet side, but there is something for everyone to try, a hoppy, a pilsner, a stout. |
70 /100 1154 ST CLAIR AVE W classy and a bit elegant smallish space in the west end. Nice long wood tables and small bar. Specialize in lagers and lighter drinking ales. Average beers but worth a stop if in the neighbourhood. |
86 /100 2876 DUNDAS STREET WEST Came in late lunch on a Saturday and by 4 place was getting full. Had 2 flights of beers and a larger pour of a great barrel aged stout. Beer was good had an excellent lager, some good IPAs and a couple excellent stouts. Good saision too. Had a good pizza for lunch. Quality place. |
96 /100 Birreria Volo (Bar) 612 COLLEGE STREET What a place, came in and had 3 Cantillon beers and a Jester King. Seriously, what more can I say?
Can't wait for my next trip to Toronto. |
92 /100 124 OSSINGTON AVENUE Stopped in late lunch before a Leafs game on a Friday. Nice place, our waitress was great, very pleasant and helpful. Had a couple lagers, a couple pale ales, including a foeder aged one, and a stout. All were excellent quality. Ordered 12 beers to go that our waitress brought to our table from the retail next door. Best brewer I’ve had in Ontario. A must stop. |
76 /100 Keep6 Imports (Internet-based) Old timer, they pick best brands and are true ambassadors. Nice beer selection. Recomended. |
60 /100 11 LOWER JARVIS STREET, UNITS 5-8 Brewpub in new east downtown. It has nice tap list as well good to go selection of beers. Sadly the staff in not serious enough to be recommended. Wanted to buy to beers to go only to be ignored. Food was OK, beers were good. |
74 /100 C’est What? (Bar) 67 FRONT STREET EAST Old school bar vibe in a basement. Excellent taplist, lots of different styles, not so much modern styles. Small pours available. Well worth a visit. |
84 /100 124 OSSINGTON AVENUE Extremely busy, had a fair wait for a seat at the bar. Well worth the wait though. Excellent beers in modern hype styles. Food was excellent. Excellent. |
