“Often walk down from crawcrook for this lovely pub. Always a good selection of local real ales, and ciders plus brand lagers and ciders, all at a reasonable price. Comprises of 2 rooms, a lovely warm and homely bar area, and a lounge area which I find to be better for a larger group. Wish it was closer to me since all the pubs in crawcrook are a bit shit.“

78 /100 STATION ROAD,
“Flying visit whilst staying in Newcastle, about 20 minutes by train. Nice range of cask ales from local breweries in very good condition. Situated right next to Wylam station and the Tyne it's a picturesque pub in a nice location and well worth a visit. Also it's the easiest way to get to a Northumberland pub when in Newcastle but it's worthy of a visit for more than just that. Would like this as my local pub.“

70 /100 STATION ROAD,
“Visited in February 2016. We took the short train ride from Newcastle specifically to get a Northumberland place tick and this pub is right next to Wylam station. Has a very homely, traditional feel and a bank of many handpumps (I neglected to count them) dispensing a number of local beers, surprisingly not including anything from Wylam brewery on this occasion. Only a couple were new for me but that can all come down to the luck of the draw. A pleasant little excursion for sure.“

74 /100 STATION ROAD,
“Wylam is a short train ride from Newcastle. The route follows the river Tyne and by the time you get to the small station it really does feel as if you’re in the countryside. The Boathouse is right next to the level crossing and it’s a homely, comfortable, down to earth place with a wood burning stove, tiled floor, a few knick-knacks and a nice stained glass ship motif in the public bar. I can’t speak for the larger lounge area to the left of the door as it was undergoing some sort of redecoration when we visited. There were twelve hand pumps and the beers were generally in good condition. (Visited 11 February 2016).“

76 /100 STATION ROAD,
“Visited on Monday 21st December in the late afternoon. Next to Wylam station on the Carlisle bound side this place had 2 rooms. Long bar with lots of handpulls on, mostly from the local area but a couple from further afield. Beer was well kept, served efficiently and prices good. Really good spot to stop for a beer or two. Also had bottle of Wylam DIPA on sale too. Nice community pub and thoroughly recommended.“

“Right next to Wylam rail station and the River Tyne. Wonderful pub with 14 hand pulls including a selection of real ciders. Pub was busy but service was excellent. Definitely a pub to go out of your way for.“

“Lovely pub right next to Wylam Rail Station. About 20 mins fron Necastle central station, and well worth the trip. Always a good selection of beers from all over the country, although local brews are prominent. Landlord is a devotee, so they are in tip-top condition. Usually at least one interesting cider too. Had good lunch her once, gorgeous Stilton and Broccoli soup. Needs a better outside space for the summer to be truly great, but next to a railway, a bridge, a road and a river, so not much room to expand. I should pedantically note that this pub is in fact in Northumberland, not Tyne and Wear.“
