I hear rumors that a certain meadery on the south side is moving to a new set up nearby. And opening a brewery, possibly this Autumn.

Something else also, Algonquin’s Scorched Earth Brewing is opening a beer garden this summer.

Heard this was a good event for Chicago Beer Week.

Here’s something you don’t see everyday. A local Christian sect proposing to build a commercial brewery near Marengo, in rural McHenry County.

Cool video of the construction of the Shrine of the Ecce Homo in Marengo. Obviously built by the Brothers and Sisters themselves. I suppose the same techniques and materials will (if they get the permits) go into the brewery/winery as well.

Pretty neat. I expect good things from this place once they tweak the recipes- whatever they are. If all goes well, it should open in 2016 or 2017. They are not a Trappist order, so don’t expect that on the labels.

Three Floyds Dark Lord Russian Imperial Stout (Bourbon Barrel Aged) needs to be unretired. Idk what other variants qualify for unretirement but there were loads of variants this year.

Another new brewery opening in the far NW burbs this summer. Interesting that they will apparently specialize in canned altbier. A one product brewery? Maybe.
