“Three or four interesting beers on tap. Pretty empty but with some big noisy parties. Service pretty good. Ambience ok - a bit big and empty. Food was fine.“

“Loud and busy but Saturday close to Christmas. 7 beers and a cider. All very pleasant but nothing exceptional. Staff friendly and helpful but a bit stretched. Atmosphere a bit too busy and food and party focused not beer focused. Food good Good value for money “

“Big rambling pub with lots of space. Very comfortable with good vibe. 10+ of their own beers on tap. Good range of styles.“

“I was a regular here for a long while when I was travelling to Adelaide on business and it's somewhere a bit different than just eating in the hotel, the only problem is that quite often a lot of tables were reserved so it was hard to get a seat, especially during the winter months. Decent enough beers, brewed on the premises (I'm an IPA fan and theirs was a pretty good drop) and the food is generally really good but quality can be variable. On the subject of food, it's all reasonably priced and their specials are definitely well worth the coin. As a venue it's quite interesting with it's pallet-wood facing and shelves, and has various seating options inside and out which is nice on a pleasant summer's evening but Topham Mall can be a bit of wind tunnel at times...“

“16 taps of craft beer and cider, always something new to try here, including some limited release beers. I found Balter IIPA on tap here for example, one of only 2 places in SA to get it in. Also has great range of whiskies (whichever way you might want to spell it) and the food is very good. It's quite small downstairs but cosy with some booths for sitting in with friends and high stools at the bar, and has a larger area for live music on the first floor. This is one of my favourite places in Adelaide and I would have eaten here often but they don't take Amex :( “

“As others mentioned, a decent neighbourhood pub which now has about a dozen taps of assorted craft beer offerings, plus many more sold by the can/bottle. Food was good as was the service. Not really somewhere to go out of the way for but solid enough.“

“A really nice little venue in the Adelaide CBD. They have about ten of their own brewed beers on tap (brewery at the back of the venue) plus a full list of wines, spirits and cocktails. I tried 4 beers all of which were ok without being great. IPA was best. The food however was excellent. It's a Mediterranean menu with good pizzas and tapas plates among other things. Staff were all friendly and the venue had an overall nice vibe. Perhaps not somewhere you'd come specifically for the beer, but as an all-round eating and drinking destination, I thought it was pretty good.“

“Comfortable pub with long bar. A big group of us went there on a Tuesday night and it was fairly quiet - easy to get served and seats. About twenty beers on tap, and a good selection. The food was very good. The staff were pleasant. Great pub. I'll go back again next time I am in Adelaide.“

“A pretty good range of craft beers for a suburban drive through bottle shop. They seemed to stock all the major local craft brewers as well as plenty from interstate. Was well organised across a few fridges and service was helpful.“

“Located in suburban Thebarton just a short walk from the free tram stop from the CBD, The Wheaty is my must visit whenever I'm in Adelaide (which is all too infrequent). Their tap beers brewed on-site are always fresh and tasty and this is matched by great customer service. Tap prices are craft beer standard however they do offer a range of glass sizes so you can have a few small ones (locally known as butchers) rather than having one big one. Their chalk board lists the available beers, wines and whisk(e)ys. The decor hasn't changed in the years I've been visiting however it's the beers that count.“

“This is a modern looking, small bar in the Adelaide inner city off Currie Street. There is a small section facing the street while most seating is indoors at low tables with stools. They have a blackboard list of their tap beers and they also serve wine and spirits. The two beers I tried were OK but seemingly pitched at the main-stream drinkers. The staff were friendly enough. It was quiet on my visit but I’d say that the happy hour and after-work crowd would liven the place up a lot.“

“A pretty standard Australian style Belgian Beer Cafe offering the usual range of beers on tap and food. They do however have a very good range of bottled Belgian beer which makes it worth a visit. The outdoor patio is nice to sit on, the service fine and the limited food we had was good.“

“Quite a nice little bar in the back streets of Adelaide's east end off Rundle Street. With 16 rotating taps there will usually be something available to interest everyone. Their food menu focuses on Cajun style sharing plates and what we had was pretty good. The inside has two levels and has a nice vibe. The tables on the footpath would be good when it isn't so hot.“

“A pretty big venue right in the heart of North Adelaide. They have a restaurant, a couple of indoor bar areas and some pavement seating. The service and food were both good for our evening visit. They have about 14 taps and 25 bottles mostly craft beers with a local focus. All up a decent Adelaide pub.“

“A small operation tucked away in the semi-industrial inner suburb of Stepney. There is a small beer garden plus a few tables adjacent to the brewing equipment. About six taps are on offer and also some limited wine for non-beer drinkers. All up a nice little place to sample the Little Bang brews.“

“This doesn't look much from outside and it's location opposite the bus station isn't really ideal, but it turned out to be a good place for a few quality beers and some interesting food. They have 16 or so taps of craft beers - some local, some interstate and some international including one hand pump which is great to see. The bar tender was helpful and knowledgeable and the food was pretty a pretty good mix of tapas style share plates and main course standard pub fare. All up a decent venue for a few quiet ones!“

“An historical pub in the centre of Adelaide which has recently broadened their range of taps to include a handful of local craft brews as well as all the major company brands. The food is good and the servings large in this well renovated venue. Not somewhere you’d go if quality craft beer is your focus but worth a visit if you are nearby and looking to have a meal with a beer or two.“

“A really great bottle shop which has an excellent range of Australian craft beers, including the best selection of South Australian brews I’m aware of. If you are into wine it is also a superb place to pick up some more obscure labels.“

“Basically a drive in bottle shop. Lots of fridges for Macro and coopers but only a few for craft. Good mixed selection of South Australia, some other OZ beers, USA, and Euro beers. Bigger focus on USA, Euro and SA. Once in SA you will understand as wine selection is very tilted to SA. Service is very good and knowledgeable. Good understanding of good craft. Pricing is a bit cheaper than eastern OZ states. Lacks ambience as a drive in and pub attached but a smart selection and some good gems in the store.“

“Nice modern, yet, retro kind of feel to it. All beers at time I was there at 4.9% Ok they are a bit new. Pale Ale, Pilsner, dark ale and Irish Red on tap. Better wine and cocktail list than beer. Food looked Ok, did not have any. Beers were uninspired at best. Good venue and more like a small bar really.“

“Solid neighbourhood pub. It feels past its best but I guess you could argue that shows the place has character. Five taps and a handpull plus an extensive bottle list. I don’t recall any crap on tap here. I had some questionable food and service wasn’t the friendliest but low score aside I reckon it’s still worth popping in for a few bevvies.“

“Recently opened to the public last month and apparently it’s the first brewery in Adelaide city. The interior is modern industrial with touches such as reused wood and bold artwork adorning the walls. It’s also hard to miss the incandescent lighted brewhouse sign above the brewery. I grabbed a paddle of the four beers pouring - Golden Ale, APA, Irish Red and Dark Ale. Positively, the beers are clean and without noticeable off flavours. However they’re not the most exciting beers and it’s easy to see they’ve kicked things off with the safe options. No doubt it’ll be a popular drinking venue for the city workers. I had an okay pizza from their wood fired oven. No faults with the service, friendly and chatty staff. All said, this a much needed addition for central Adelaide and it’ll be interesting to see how the brewery progresses in time.“

“Easily the best brewpub/taphouse in Adelaide. A great selection of local, interstate and overseas beers on tap (as well as an extensive bottle list) and since June this year, a range of brews made on the premises. The pub has a number of different spaces both indoors and out, some with lounge chairs, others with tables, so something to suit everyone. They don’t have food, but the deli across the road has takeaway pizzas which you are welcome to bring back to the pub. All in all its the sort of pub I’d love to have as my local!“

“Had lunch here with family on a Monday so was pretty quiet, but it had a nice ambiance which would probably not be much different at crowded times. The tap beer range was pretty good with about a dozen local crafts and the bottle selection was outstanding, particularly given they are all South Australian beers. I didn’t know there were so many. The food was excellent and all enjoyed their meals. The Pie Floater was particularly good!“

“Went there late evening last night an hour or so before closing. A young lady was training an American bartender. The trainer had some facts wrong, but she smiled. I was able to try 2 Belgians I’ve never had before, tho they were of little consequence. I think the effort is to mimick the Delirium Café in Brussels by a mega corp. It’s ok, esp in an area where there’s nothing remotely similar.“

“Great convenient place for some brews and food. Went here by free tram and sat outside to eat and sip good beer. Bartender’s beer recommendations were spot on. I like that all their food is locally sourced. Excellent service. Good local selection. Not much for imports. My 1/2 kg chargrilled rib eye steak was cooked to perfection except while I like winter squash mashed with blue cheese, I don’t like it served on beef. So my first bites of the steak were some of the best I’ve ever had, those under the squash/blue cheese weren’t so good and I couldn’t finish it. Business started slowing down so they closed early although a number of people kept coming in they were turned away. I’d return if they were open.“

“Made a trip here today as the first go to pub via trap and hoof on a very hot day. Quite warm inside too, but worth it. Great selection of Oz beers in general n locals in particular, plus choice imports. Staff is super friendly yet laid back and helpful/knowledgeable. Had some cheese n crackers- tasty! Fair prices. Friendly customers. Pool table. Going to try to return..“

“Decent shop in Adelaide. More of a Wine store that has beer. All in fridges. What a concept again. Not a great range but workable. North Coast, Brooklyn, Brewboys, Lobenthal,Sierra Nevada, Swell, Moo Brew, St. Ambrose, Fullers and some Italian beers as well. One growler tap and that was from Garage Project in NZ. 15% off for 6 or more imports is OK. Helpful service but was lacking a bit in a wider range as compared to other stores in Adelaide. Having a growler set up is nice but the range is quite small“

Belair Fine Wines (Beer Store)
9 RUSSELL STREET, BELAIR
“Have been visiting this place for about two years now. And every time I go there is always something new, I think the beer wall count is over 700 different beers and ciders now. knowledgable and passionate staff and with the beer club card you get 10% off all single beers purchased. My only concern would be the freshness of some beers as only a few are refrigerated and having such a massive range some could be on the shelf for a long time.“

“Great range, worth the drive up to Belair for sure. They have a lot of the beers you don’t find at Goodwood Cellars or North Adelaide. And they seem to be put out with much more respect and reverence than their city counterparts. The great wall of beer is a sight to behold.“

“Nice little wine shop feel. Quite welcoming and warm. Good service on the phone. Asked a few questions before going out there and got really solid answers and help. Not a huge selection but a well made selection. Some good UK beers as well as US and Australia. Prices are pretty standard for Australia. Though a bit cheaper than Sydney pricing so was able to focus a bit more on the local fare which is nice. Good shop with some nice hidden gems. Not saying what they are though. Worth the visit“
