“Visit Date: 2/18/24 Nice two story brewpub with a pretty solid food menu and a good variety of beers. Having not been to a Triumph in many years, I wasn't expecting a ton, but the beers were pretty solid (or maybe I've just gotten nicer as I get older). Good spot. “

“Had a chance to pop in. Found a seat at the bar, and thankfully the band stopped playing shortly thereafter. Service was a bit cold but got better as it went along. They had a wide range of beers on, and I sampled around a bit, finding most of the styles executed fairly well, even oddball ones like Biere de Garde that nobody gets right. So they seem to take an old school approach to beermaking and I respect that. I will return if I'm back in Red Bank.“

“Came here on 3.12.2022. Was in Triumph brewing in Philly more than 10 years ago and assumed they were out of business as the location at chestnut street closed many years ago. Apparently they survived and have still 3 locations with breweries. This is a huge place on two floors, more on the commercial side. Brewery and a few beer tanks are quite visible. Beers were ok and food was good.“

“Ambiance - nice town, outside decor is so-so. The interior is nice, but a little dark. Service - the staff was exceptional, very nice and very helpful. Selection - mostly home brewed offerings. Those are good, otherwise fairly minimal. Food - is obscenely good. Of a high order. Value - it expensive, but you get what you pay for. Overall - it's a nice place. Would recommend.“

“Nicely decorated restaurant but the noise level in the bar is barely tolerable. Service has always been fine in all of my visits there. Small selection of beer. 3 house made taps available during my last visit (first since the name change). Food is always very good but tends to be very expensive. They’ve made an effort to make it a little cheaper since the name change but still not cheap. I’d consider this a good spot to get dinner, moreso than a beer bar. Worth checking out at least once.“

“Red Bank is a bit of a beer wasteland but this is one of the better spots. Service is generally friendly, selection is on the better end of the spectrum for the area (not saying much) and prices are OK. Food has always been pretty good in my experiences. Definitely not worth a special trip but worth stopping in if you’re in the neighborhood.“

“Good food, small but decent tap list including Kane and Carton. Somewhat expensive. Service was great last time I was there but have had catastrophically bad service there during a previous visit. Worth checking out for the food and the beer is a nice bonus.“

“OK...so at the end of the day...this place has "really" good food. It’s actually a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde...great restaurant...passible brewpub. Let’s not forget that in warm weather the bar area is notoriously cold from setting the AC too high (been this way for years in spite of constant complaints...go figure)...forget gettting your women to enjoy a beer here. In any case...definitely a good craftbeer stop when in the area...always a good food stop (or try even better cuisine at their other place called Undici). Still far better than Artisans in Toms River (which used to be the "other" Basil T’s before there apparently was a parting of the ways).“

“Decent brewpub. Food is absolutely fantastic. Beer a bit less so, but not bad. Average for a brewpub. More of a date night place then a brewpub to get your tick on.“

“Layout is pretty typical old grocery store set up. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Selection is kind of all over the place and it can be hard to find stuff, but there is good stuff to be had. More sought after stuff might be stored in the back so be sure to ask if there’s something you’re looking for. Prices are mostly in line with other stores in the area but a few beers were priced shockingly high. Probably not worth a special trip but worth checking out if you’re in the area.“

“Went during the day, so it wasn’t too crowded, with the square bar was mostly full. It seemed a little too dark inside, but maybe that was a result of just coming in from outside in the sun. Samplers are $9 for six 5 oz. pours. Service was average. Food smelled pretty good, but we didn’t eat.“

“Good food and decent beer. Comfortable atmosphere, although the band that was playing that night was pretty obnoxious. The service is good, but the prices are a bit steep. Worth checking out considering the dearth of brewpubs and beer bars in the area.“

“The outside is not that stunning, but the inside felt warm and inviting. Lots of dark wood and I liked the deli case with all the meats and cheese hanging overhead. They had a nice square bar which is perfect for conversation. The service was ok. I don’t like going to places where they don’t write out what’s on the sampler. I like to know what I’m drinking as I’m drinking it. None of the beers really did much for me. The pizza, on the other hand, was fantastic. It was apportioned with lots of real toppings and the crust was crunch enough to support it. The prices are what you’d expect for the area. Overall it’s a nice place to have a meal, wouldn’t go out of my way to just drink their beer.“

“This place makes Total Wine look like the Taj Mahal. It looks like an abandoned grocery store that someone has dodgily retrofitted as a liquor store. About a 1/4 of the store is beer and they sure stack the BMC high and deep. They have a decent selection of craft brews but not a lot especially rare or seasonal. They don’t have mechanism where you can make your own sixer which would have been nice. I bought four bottles of beer and the guy at the counter took the time to add cardboard inserts to my bag to add some padding which I was thankful for. By New Jersey standards this place must seem like an oasis. If you’re not from the area then there’s no need to make a special trip.“

“Decent stop. A bit underwhelmed with the selection. Oak Tree and Totowa Depot are well above in that regard. Had the Monks Cafe brew which made me happy.“

“Nice looking place, almost reminds me of a cigar bar. Proudly displayed brewing equipment, always a plus. Friendly bartenders, quick service. Music was terrible, totally killed the mood. The beer was honestly mediocre at best, and only six to choose from. OK place, but definitely not rushing to go back again!“

“Decided it was time for me to take that jaunt off of the parkway to check this place out. Looks like an old supermarket from the inside. Selection is pretty good, they have a lot of beers, but based off of some reviews I went in there looking for a few things I thought they had, and they didn’t. Overall they have a lot of beer in here, single selection is average and price is about on par with a lot of other places in the area, service was rather lacking. I think for the 10 minutes it takes off of the parkway, I’ll just stick with a monthly run to Oak Tree.“

“Was in here recently after not being in for a few months. It looks like the are expanding the place. The beer guy (didn’t get his name) was telling me that they are pushing the beer case back and extending it. The beer area is already huge so to add more is a bonus. It’s true that the singles selection is lacking but the beer guy claims that they will be extended as well. We’ll see. But this place is with out a doubt the best place in the area. Selection and prices are great. I must stop if you are in the area.“

“It’s about time I rated this place. For price and selcetion this place can’t be beat. Service, well I never really needed help but it’s not like it was EVER offered on any of my dozens of trips. This is a converted grocery store so for sheer size this place is great. Selection wise they get all the major releaes, Stone seasonals, CL seasonals, Lagunitas, Avery, Bear Republic, Allagash etc. Price is ridiculous because of their buying power. The only thing they are really lacking on is a singles section and some service. If they had the service and singles selection of Oak Tree I would never venture further then exit 109 but alas they don’t so Dan don’t worry you will still be seeing me make those hour long drives north just to say hi to Jay.“

“A great building that looks like nothing from the outside, but displays charm and confidence once inside. Lots of fresh products, vegetables and fancy Europeans meats decorate the multi-roomed establishment with a disctinct character depending on where you sit. Excellent service, highly friendly and professional. Fine food of high quality, but on the expensive side, expect to pay at least 20$ for a complete meal, but while it was at lunch time, I have not eaten until 1am afterwards. The beer selection is nothing really out of the ordinary and entirely depends on whether you go there when interesting seasonals are on, but the regulars are of above average quality. I would come to eat from time to time if I lived close, but I would not necessarily come as a regular drinker unless they bring out some appealing seasonals. Still a very satisfying and worthy stop if you’re in the area.“

“Nice place. Beer and food are both good. Service is bad. But this place is outragiously overprice. Cheapest thing is on the menu is the pizza. $18 for a bar pie??!! Com’on. I’d stay away unless you are really curious about the beer. “

“What a place! It looks to be a retired Grocery Store. I initially walked down the first aisle which resembles an old Produce department. The reused shelving now displays wine. I make it back to the replaced Dairy section to see that the entire back wall is filled end to end with cold six packs! I follow this around the parameter of the store to find even more bottles! Locals, rarities, West Coast rarities. I picked up my STONE 070707 Vertical Epic, Southern Tier, Climax growlers, Clipper City, and too much more. I follow this to the end just to realize they have Micro Variety 12pks on a different row right behind me as well. What a Find!! Thanks WillBlake for the tip.“

“Being from PA, I don’t have an opportunity to mix and match very much. My sister referred me to this place several years ago and everytime I am in NJ I stop by. The selection is very good. I have seen Westvleterens every so often and the other Abby’s are always there. I have also seen harder to find beers there as well. Worth the trip if you are in the area.“

“I stopped in on a Thursday night at 9:30 and it was jam packed. This is obviously a popular place in Red Bank. Very mixed crowd. The cozy 4 sided wood bar is dimly lit, with plasma tvs. Very loud when it’s crowded. The menu is a little pricey, but the food is outstanding if you love gourmet Italian. The beers were ok, but the Maxwell’s dry stout was excellent. I think the focus of this place is the food and dining experience, not the beer. If you want a great dinner and want to sample some local brew, this is worth a stop. If you just want beer, I would not go out of your way unless you are in the area.“

“Stopped by here as a recommendation from WillBlake on my way to a Heavyweight Open house. The store is enormous and the beer is about 1/8 of it, which is a large portion actually. They of course have stuff I cannot get in NY but outside of the local stuff the selection is just ok. I got to pick up some stuff i wouldnt find in NY (Arcadia and Reaper). I mean I pretty much got everything I wanted and only spent 50 bucks, which is not a lot for a beer frenzy (I only didnt get the Fullers Vintage 2005, which I should have). However, this highlights the great prices this place charges (i.e Abbaye des Rocs $7). I was disappointed by the service, lady knew nothing about beer or where the heavyweight brewery was. She also made a mistake charging me so I take points away. Its definitly a place to stop but not at the level of the big boys (New Beer, American or Halftime).“

“Stopped by on the recommendation from Willblake. Like he said, they have the best selection of NJ and PA micros of the places I have visited. Nice selection of Belgians and English beers. The micros are sort of spread out between stacks on the floor and the long beer cooler. Not as organized as Oak Tree, but far more organized than Somerville Super Saver. It does not appear that they break sixers, but I could be wrong. They also have wine and cheese, but that is not my thing.“

“Wide selection, procured some beers i’d been looking for for a while. Added on to my Old Salty and Stone IRS verticals. Got some more Sly Fox cans for a party tonight, love that stuff. Bob was very helpful. They get the newest Heavyweights there, and he even called over to see if Tom was around. (I woulda stopped by the brewery if someone was there). Ste-ve should be out there soon though he said.“

“Nothing that thrilling on tap except for the Maxwell’s Dry Stout which was quite good. Food was very good, but also very expensive. Wasn’t in the mood for a big Italian meal, just some good pub food which they really didn’t have. Settled on a panini chicken sandwich which was good, tried my wife’s burger(also paninized) and was good too. One at our table got a real Italian dinner and it was excellent, but again pricy. If the beers were better I would probably try it again, buy not in the near future.“

“Nice selection of European beers, with some hard to find gems included. Picked up a De Dolle Dulle Teve Reserva, an Oerbier Reserva(2004), a Panil Barriquee along with a few others. Real good selection of regional beers also. This is probably the second best beer store I’ve been to in NJ after Somerville SS.“

“Decent regular lineup of beers, but nothing spectacular although the Maxwell’s Dry Stout is quite highly regarded. Food is excellent, but expensive. There were four bartenders working when I was there, and only maybe 15 people at the bar. But service was still slow, tenative, as if they didn’t want to step on each other’s toes or bother me too much. Still, they were pleasant and able to answer my few questions. Gretchen’s seasonals are usually very good. It can be quite loud from the patrons and the open kitchen, plus there is often cigar smoke.“

“This has been my go-to place for a while. Easily the largest selection of NJ/PA micros I’ve seen. Nice representation of most everything else that’s available. The beer manager tries to fit as much new beer as he can and really limits shelf space taken up by dogs. A good source for trappists (not Achel though). More stuff from the UK than most joints I’ve seen, some ciders, lots of stuff from eastern Europe, too. Also, when they have glassware for sale it’s usually only $3. The beer is usually in very good shape, too.

update: Bob the beer guru is doing a great job keeping the selection liquid and interesting. The variety is growing every visit. I easily spend $100+ during my monthly trip to this great store. Now if only the cashiers would take it easy on the bottles...“

“This place has an Italian type dining atmosphere. A little dark, with a large square bar one side separate from the dining area. Plenty of TV’s as well. Beer is well made, but don’t expect anything assertive, or very interesting. Good food. Neat wine "cellar" over to the side of the bar as well.“

“Only house brews are available, which is a good thing since they are all excellent. The stout is a must have. Their wheat beer is a filtered American ale version and is very refreshing on a hot day. Rather crowded and usually noisy. Mixed crowd, mostly 30-40 with yuppie types at the bar. Italian restaurant with antipasto bar. Very good food, but overpriced. Median dinner plate is $19. Specials are more. Get there early, sit at the bar and try a beer sampler with their pea soup.“
