“New top place for me! The best of both worlds.. pizza and beer! 100 taps, half devoted to their own brews. Pizza? Chewy NY style. Busy, busy, busy. If I lived in the area, I'd be here all the time. Heaven on earth. Good service too.“

“Pizza Boy is in Ebola Pennsylvania. You won’t go thirsty here . 90 taps, beer to go and great looking pizza. Bright lights over pizza cook area and dim lights over table area. Have patio also. One guy pouring drafts and one girl taking care of pizza side.Service is good and plenty of people enjoying a Monday night here Really like the place and could go field tripping with here with their tap list and guest tap list. Cheers!“

“Mixed thoughts on this place. One is it's amazing, and has an incredible beer list on tap. But why have so many of these if you don't do flights, at least of your own beer? Isn't the point of having so many beers to allow people to try different stuff? Otherwise why bother? Nobody's out there drinking 50 pints or even half pints... And most bars that do flights make money as they upcharge. Perhaps the regulars that go everyday would still benefit from a large tap list. Anyway, rant aside this is a great brewery. Didn't try many of their beers because I couldn't, but the ones I did were fine. Pizza was great too, and prices pretty good. Service was friendly, had wifi.“

“Not to far of the turnpike was this Gem, lots of parking, outdoor covered seating and inside a big open high ceiling brewpub … no table service you have to order your beer in one line and food in another … wine on taplist and they had 32 of their own beers and the other 68 or so were guest taps …. big portions food wise and the pizza was awesome!! Took some cans to go. The people working there seemed nice and the seating area/tables were clean ….. I'd go here again if I'm in the area for sure! Prices weren't too bad either.“

“mistakes blamed oN customer I am a military veteran that has been a patron since the opening of Al's of Hampden pizzaria (before they changed to "Pizza Boy")before they moved to their new location, I am very disapointed in their lack of customer relations as a patron, they have since refused business from me because of only two complaints and one a complete mistake on their part. (I considered my self i avid supporter and patron of this establishment), however the fact that they most recently said that i complained too much and would refuse service from me was the last straw. I just want to warn anyone that gets too familiar with this chain that they hold no regard to their loyal customer base (after giving their delivery drivers a generous tips as well) a warning that they will turn on you. I have known the OWNER of this establishment for years and even traded baking knowledge and equipment for baking/equpement knowledge. Regardless of this, the staff was neglegent in their duties, and has countlessly prepaird my food with substanderd procedures and carelessness. I whole heartletlly warn anyone from making this their go to pizziria, or order out restaurant of choice.“

“Strip mall / industrial park somewhat conveniently close to the highway. Large open space, open industrial with vents and shafts, hundred taps all in a line; sports on the TVs, also lots of beer listed on ever-refreshing video screens. They have cans, reserve bottles, interesting sizes. Arcade games. Kid and family friendly, lot of middle-aged women in on their lunch breaks, some blue collar and some hipster, seems like it gets busy quickly. Work in the openly attached brewery mean it also got really noisy really quickly. Converted kegs for urinals. Free wifi, free fruit for kids, sell merch, coffee, etc, a one-stop shop, just a little bit expensive on some things, but the beer is worthy. Cheese sauce dispenser. Had a Hawaiian pizza for myself and it was pretty good! Would go back if in the area, for sure, found it very easy to spend time and money here. [2017.05.19: 86]“

“We came here on 10th of April 2017. Located in a shopping / industrial estate 5 miles away from Harrisburg center. On the first glance it looks like a copy of Pizza Port in Carlsbad, but after a while you figure out the own character of this brew pub. 103 draft beers, around 30 from their own Pizza boy brewery, most of the other beers are from the nearby area. We had really good stouts, pale and IPA’s. The pizza is also quite ok. Service was super nice and gave us some tatsters for free. Really good beer/pizza place. Just the logo and the merchandise can be improved, but beer quality is definitely more important.“

“A huge warehouse with food, beer, video games and open seating. No real service the guy serving the beer was a geek and liked to chat. Selection is just awesome with tons of guest taps. Food was good and prices a bit high but worthy of the food quality. This place rocks, with the only issue being no small pours or samples, you must commit.“

“This place was pretty cool. Lots of screaming and loud children that seemed to belong to a baseball team of sorts. Everything was ordered at the bar with a lone girl walking around and picking up empty plates. The selection is awesome. Since Pizza Boy is known for sours, I was hoping there might be more of those on, but there weren’t. The pizza was great. Boy did I smash that thing. The price was a little high, but it was worth it. I would definitely recommend this place!“

“Wonderful pizza joint featuring, surprise, Pizza Boy beer. Pizza was spot on, although a little pricey. They have 99+ beers on, including over 30 of their own. Crowlers and growlers to go, no flights though. The beer was pretty good too. You have to order at the counter so no waited but you might get your beer faster that way anyway. I recommend hitting this spot.“

“Large and busy brewery with food and beer to go coolers. Plenty of parking space. Industrial feel. Clean which is a plus. Huge list of tap beers. Biggest I saw. They do have around 30 beers of their own to try. No samples sadly. Half pours are often of high end price wise. Quality of beers was very good and OK. So hit and miss. Conveniently located close to hwy.“

“Ton of beers on tap including a crap load of their own. Pizza is good. Crowlers available for almost anything on tap ... what else to say. If this place was closer (~2hr drive) I would be here at least weekly. Only down side is no samplers or flights, but they do sell 8oz pours.“

“After many years I had a convenient opportunity to visit this revered restaurant/brewery. Located not too far from I-81 at the end of a court. Outside is a standard cinder-block building, inside is an almost industrial-cafeteria style design with beer coolers all over. You order at a register where they bring you food and beer. The draft list is their own offerings and others, some 80+ drafts! The pizza was excellent, the in-house sour drafts were great too. Bottles of beer are sold, and so are growlers/crowlers of their drafts. Service was excellent; I left a very happy person with pizza, a crowler and some bottles. I will be back.“

“I agree with GenDV138’s comment that Al’s feels a bit like a cafeteria. However, there’s an amazing number of quality taps, friendly service, and great pizza, so I have no complaints. My group visited after the lunchtime rush and found the place still pretty busy. The draught options were pretty dizzying. There were roughly 30 Pizza Boy beers on plus another 60-odd guests. The Pizza Boy beers, especially the sours, were very good and inventive. The guest beers were also strong, and certainly weren’t there just to fill space. The staff were uniformly pleasant, friendly. We split a pizza and were pretty damn satisfied with it. The only downside of this place is that the staff is very hesitant to give out samples, and no flights are available. However, smaller pour sizes are available, so large groups should be able to make a decent dent in the list. Overall, this place is world class.“

“Nice brewpub in a big open space overlooking the brewing operations. Cafeteria-style atmosphere with a decent sized L-shaped bar and plenty of tables. Friendly service for the most part. Vast amount of taps so you’re sure to find plenty of interesting beers to try. Pretty good amount of house-brewed beers on draft with around 15-20 offerings in the mix of guest taps. Smallest serving size is 8 ounces and you can only order one beer at a time, no flights. Crowlers and growlers available on most drafts. Decent bottle selection available to drink on-site or to-go depending on the beer. Hand tossed pizzas are quite good and filling with just two slices. Good value on beer and food. For some odd reason, there’s no option to tip if paying by credit card so make sure to have some cash. There’s an ATM available. Definitely the best place I’ve been to for the classic pizza and beer combo. A must stop if passing by or in the area.“

“This is a newish place within easy walking distance of Al’s of Hampden, on the same turn off from the highway and main road. Inside is large, bright, modern. Realizing that any PA grocery store that stocks beer is a rarity, this one is a start, anyway. Singles in a single cooler, handful of bombers. Some regional stuff. Decent prices.“

“Superb bar and brewery with kitchen and bottle shop all in the same space. It’s layout reminded me a little of a cafeteria but somehow Al manages to make it work and provides a comfortable environment to imbibe in. Great selection of draft beers, and honestly the main reason to visit is for the excellent Pizza Boy and Intangible Ales (bottles only) available here. Food is tasty and hearty with pizzas, subs, soups and stromboli being dished up from the kitchen. Staff are generally excellent and very friendly. Crowlers can be filled for takeaway. This place rocks - a must visit!“

“Large, bright, open. Huge dining room, long bar. I was worried as the parking lot was full but found a bar seat no problem. Did not try the food this time. No flights or tastes which is lame, but 8 ounce pours are in the $3-5 range. Prices on growler fills are solid as well. A million-ish taps with a good range of house beers and local / US micros with some rarities. Decent selection of bottles as well. Bartenders were helpful and somewhat friendly. I miss the coziness of the old place, but this is still a world class stop.

For historical sake, my review of the old location: Located in a mini-strip mall next to a fairly residential area. It’s RIGHT off the interstate, which makes it convenient. It’s a pizza/sub kinda joint, and the bacon cheeseburger sub I had was tasty. It was fairly steady the whole time I was there especially for mid-day on a work day. I can imagine this place gets crowded. Lots of taps with their own beers and a lot of other high quality craft beers, including up to three cask options at a time (I had Thirsty Dog Wee Heavy on Cherries). The four Pizza Boy (the house brand) beers I had were all good. A sampler of 5 beers is $10 and my total bill including tax was less than $19. Prices on full pours looked solid. They fill growlers but I didn’t see growler fill prices. Tons of bottle options to go. Some prices were high, some were quite reasonable. The people there were really helpful and friendly. If I lived around here, this would be my local.“

“Not at all the place shown in the photo, this must be a new location ... a well appointed warehouse-y joint with a step-up bar and step-up pizza ordering spot that share the same tabs. An amazing lineup of 60 taps, all well displayed on a first-class electronic board ... full of local and regional choices, not to mention about 10 Pizza Boy Brewing options. The pizza was delicious, delivered hot and handmade. And the three beers I tried were all very good. Understand we were lucky to visit on Monday night ... it can apparently get packed. It was pretty full, always a great sign. Blue star! (Brewery #661)“

Beer Quality// very good
Beer Philosophy// roughly a dozen rotating taps; beer nerd friendly; experimental offerings;
Serving Sizes// no flights; half pours; full pours
Growler Situation// 32oz and 64oz (limited to only screwtops due to tap height; will fill theirs or others)
Food Situation// good pizza parlor food
Ambiance// industrial; pizza parlor style booths; lots of exposed white cinder-block walls
Overall// a must visit destination worth a detour; in addition to their beer, they have several dozen guest offerings including many locals“

“I’ll start with the awesomeness... 100 taps makes for one of the best selections in central PA, 20 of their own and some awesome guests like peanut butter porter on tap. In house goodness like a watermelon Hefewizen could be found too. You could also fill a 2L growler of their house beers for $10, kind of hard to beat! I was expecting a little more for such a high rating on this site though. Went here for lunch on a weekday, so maybe some of the usual ambiance is missing... But that aside, service was a little nonchalant and not as attentive as reviews here would lead me to believe. For food we stuck with Pizza because we were in a rush, it was good but not excellent.“

“Tucked away a couple blocks from I-81, this brewpub is worth seeking out if you are in the area - or even just passing through. I stopped here on my way from Atlanta to Boston to attend the Mensa AG. Interior is cozy and unpretentious, booths and tables next to coolers full of great brews. Service is helpful, efficient and friendly. Food is delicious! Their selection is amazing, including lots of great crafts as well as their own creations. You will. “Really cool place with a ridiculous selection of draft beer! Pizza Boy had 22 out of 102 total, including about half a dozen nitro lines. The service was good, very serious about ordering your beer by number, an issue I am willing very much to overlook given the number of taps. They were very kind and patient as well. They don’t offer flights. Food was available and looked great, though I ordered none. Lots of available packages and large format bottles, including hard to find seasonals and limited releases. Definitely going back. Oh, and the urinals are made out of 1/2 bbls that have been cut in half, but I’m easily amused.“

“Very nice place to stop at on the last leg of a road trip. Place was huge, with tables and an area for brewing. Tons of taps, with a good portion devoted to the in-house beers. “Last stop on a road trip and what a great way to end! Large building with indoor and outdoor seating. Not much more than a warehouse, but it does offer a view of the brewing area and a lot of seating. Beer selection was great! 102 taps, but a few were empty. While there were solid guest taps, we stuck with the Pizzy Boy house beers and were not dissapointed. Good prices as well with the average beer price being $5. They also offer growlers and a bottles to go equal to what you’d find at a local bottle shop. Food was equally delicious with fantastic pizza and wings. I really want to come back here for both beers and food..“

Pizza is ok. Think Dominos with better ingredients. Probably amazing if you’re drinking all day long. Prices are mixed. Drafts/growlers are excellent value. In house bottles are very expensive. “A world class brewery disguised as a suburban pizza joint. An incredible selection of Pizza Boy beers, usually around 20, as well as around 50 guest taps. I think they have capacity for 100 taps, but they were nowhere close to full the two times I visited. The beers here are awesome and CHEAP. Some great experimental stuff, as well as some great sessionable pale ales and other "normal" offerings. Pints are usually $4, growler fills start at $10. Really a great place. If I lived closer I’d be crushing growlers of this stuff every weekend. But alas, I have to settle for visiting every few months. Oh, and the food is pretty good too.“

“Typical brewery tasting room feel to it with the bonus of good pizza by the slice (big slices) and very reasonable prices on food and beer. Service was good. They have a large selection of taps with a good number of those being their own brews. Had a lime IPA which was pretty good. The place also had a good bottle selection and filled growlers. I got a 1 ltr growler of Victory Dirtwolf to go. Will be back again. Little hard to find. Thankful that I had it dialed in with the GPS on my phone or would not have found it. A very good place for brew to go and to imbibe on location. Will definitely be back, especially since they just mentioned on their Facebook page that they have Backwoods Bastard on tap.“

“Great pizza and a really awesome draft selection as well as a decent bottle selection. Laid back, cafeteria style eating area. Lots of big TVs make for a good place to watch games. My only complaints are that I’d prefer servers, at least at the bar so I didnt have to get up all the time. And I think it sucks that I can’t buy at least 1 bottle of their beer to go. I travel there from far away and my only choices are to either not enjoy their BB Barleywine or irresponsibly drive after drinking it. Thats a letdown.“

“This is a pizza joint. It’s an Italian deli. It’s a beer store. Oh, and it’s a brewpub. Hard to find, we passed it three times, and actually switched to a different GPS, then had to stop and ask at the hotel across the street. It was worth the effort. Filled to the brim with locals, plus a steady parade of people coming in for pizzas or growler fills (and, oddly, a case of PBR or Miller Lite - oh well). The pizza is terrific, and the beers are interesting enough to keep coming back. Plus, the selection of guest taps is very solid. And the prices?? $4 a beer, holy cow! Great place, and now that Terry Hawbaker is brewing here, I’ll definitely be back. 5-8-13-8-9-18, 88. SECOND RATING, now that they’ve moved into their new digs. The brewery portion is amazing, all new Braukon stuff, and now surrounded by barrels of every flavor, red wine, white wine, rum, bourbon. Seems like every small nook and cranny had a barrel in it. There are far more beers on tap, with the usual amazing stuff by Terry, some with fruit added, courtesy of Al. The pizza, thankfully, is just as delicious, the bottle shop is the same. Growler fills still available. The star of the show was the Pizza Boy sours in bottles for in house consumption. Staff is terrific, and Terry took time out from his long day (already past 6 pm) to show us around, share some beers and chat. Amazing place, worth going well out of your way to find. The only way to improve, I think, would be for them to offer sampler sizes (say, 4 ounces), especially now that the number of taps has grown so much. I want to try them all! A minor point in an otherwise amazing place. And now that they offer 8 ounce pours of any beer, even this is solved!“

Selection is almost impossible to beat, 102 beers on tap, some harder to find stuff too. Pizza was solid but nothing great. “Let me start by saying that the address on the website should be changed. (luckily the new location is close by). Brand new building with a large area to sit outside. You walk in to what seems to be a cafeteria at first glance. Brewery to the left, with the barrels and fermenters. Tables in the middle and Pizza on the right. Very extensive tap selection with over 20% of the selection to be pizza boy beers. There has to be something here for you. Hungry? The pizza is amazing. I ordered more just to bring some back with me to eat that night. They also have a small selection of bottles to go (sort of like a small bottle shop) If it wasn’t for the 8hour ride, I’d be drinking/eating here all the time. Will find time to come again.“

“This is a very unassuming place, but it’s a great beer destination. Located in a large warehouse/pizzeria. Very family friendly - there are plenty of tables, many of which included little kids. There are some arcade games in the back. There is a bar but no bar service. And several TVs too. Tons of taps (officially 100, but there were probably ~70 on when I visited). There are around 10 Pizza Boy taps, which included several IPAs, saisons, and sour ales. And then a number of other beers, including some stuff not usually seen in this area (Alesmith IPA, Du Claw, for starters). The pizza was pretty standard, plus they had sandwiches as well. Overall, this place has more beers than you could ever want. Definitely worth seeking out.“

“Love Al’s. I’d be there every night if I didn’t live 40 minutes away. The ambiance is a bit stark, but that’s hardly a concern when one considers all of the other great aspects of Al’s. The owner and staff have gone to great lengths to establish a rapport with locals and regulars, and facilitate interactions between their patrons. There is a great sense of community there that will very quickly make you forget about the utilitarian design of the place. Really, everything else ambiance wise is secondary to the camaraderie that exists here. I can’t really fault the place for the lack of table service, as I think it’s important to keep in mind that the restaurant portion, at its heart, is old-school pizza joint. More service isn’t always better service, and preservation of a tradition sometimes takes precedence. Beyond that, the staff is fantastic. Helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. The tap selection is quite amazing, and thoughtfully composed. The bottle selection is also excellent with some of the best prices you’ll find for bottles and six packs anywhere in the state. The food is, well, it’s a pizza shop, so set your expectations appropriately. It’s unpretentious, and well prepared. And all of that without even mentioning the house-brewed beers! What else can be said about Terry Hawbaker’s brews that hasn’t already been said? He’s a world class brewer doing what world class brewers do! All in all, this is a can’t-miss place that you should definitely go out of your way for.“

“AKA Pizza Boy Brewing. Such an unusual place. We were there 2 weeks after they moved into their new location. It’s in this BRIGHTLY lit metal building with high ceilings and a rather sterile atmosphere, although there were a couple bar arcade games and sports on the TVs. Families with kids even till they closed (at 11) on a Thursday. But 100!! taps, about 15 of which were made there. Their house beers were decent, and their selection of American crafts from around the country was excellent. The best prices I’ve ever seen in a bar on beer this good, but I guess that’s the advantage of drinking in a brightly lit warehouse in the middle of nowhere, PA. The food (we had pizza and a salad) were ok, nothing special. I only knock the service because you have to go up to the bar/counter to order everything. The staff is very friendly though. They also have a great selection of bottles to go, and they sell growlers (64 or 32 oz) of most of what they have on tap. Definitely go here if you’re in the Harrisburg area.“

“Definitely a great place for all beer lovers. Draft selection is varied and can be quite unique, depending on how lucky your timing is. Gotta love the option of cask beer--too few places offer a real pint, but it’s understandable given the perishable nature of the product. Food is average to slightly above, especially if you take advantage of their daily specials as I sometimes do. Pizza Boy’s house brews are evolving and, in my opinion, improving. Biggest criticism is the lack of space, which should be a non-factor when their new location opens. Looking forward (with fingers crossed) to a great brew in their new digs later this year.“
