COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like many of our beers, Red Wheelbarrow (which started out as a pilot batch brewed by brewer Dan Roberts) doesn’t fit neatly into a style category — think of it as a stronger, more hop-forward interpretation of a traditional red ale. Red Wheelbarrow is not, however, a “red IPA” – there is robust malt character (think raisin and fig) on both the nose and palate that temper the abundant hop presence (think citrus fruit). Vitals: Color – Red ABV – 7.0% O.G. – 1.070 Malt – Weyermann Munich 1, Briess 2-Row, Victory, Chateau Special B, Chateau Abbey, Briess C-80 Hops – Columbus, Amarillo, Falconer’s Flight

phaleslu (16559) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 24, 2019
UPDATED: DEC 24, 2019 500 ml bottle from Higher Gravity. Pours a just about clear amber with two fingers of frothy off-white head that takes a while to settle into a ring and film, leaving a lot of lace in the glass. Notes of pine, grapefruit, tea, caramel malts, and toast. Light-medium bodied, with modest carbonation and a malty, bitter mouthfeel in good balance. Nice hoppy amber. Glad to see these on shelves here.

tfontana (5627) - Fremont, New Hampshire, USA - NOV 5, 2019
UPDATED: NOV 5, 2019 Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Total Wine & More, Burlington. Appearance is hazy reddish-amber brown with tons of sparkle, 3-finger width foamy beige head with good retention and light soapy lacing. Aroma is cracker/bread and citrusy bitterness. Taste is cracker/bread along with hint of fruit. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with frothy texture, average-to-lively carbonation and mildly sweet malty finish with lingering dry bitterness. Overall, aroma and flavor are neither terribly strong, nor terribly interesting. Nothing special.
