Deep brown pour. The nose is sweet and slightly roasty with a touch of cocoa and some nice roast. A bit of herbal character and a touch of plum on the finish. Burnt sugar and some dark malt. Nice beer.

tombyars (2362) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - NOV 14, 2017
Tasted this in the Beer Kitchen, Glasgow (Innis & Gunn taproom) on the 6th November 2017. Keg dispense, 1/2 pint. Ruby black in colour with a thin off white head. Malty aroma with notes of sweet molasses on the short nose. Thin creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malts give a moist treacle sponge base with syrupy prunes evident. Slight earthy damp note to the hop resins which impart a smooth bitterness to the aftertaste. Smooth malty finish with treacle toffee and sweet syrupy prunes flavours to the fore. A cracking session porter.
