Belgian Red is a tapestry of flavor. This beer is brewed with whole Montmorency Cherries, Wisconsin farmed wheat and Belgian roasted barleys, lagered in oak tanks and balanced by Hallertau hops we aged in our brewery one full year. Over a pound of Door County Cherries in every bottle makes this beer uniquely “Wisconsin.” So unique, in fact, that we applied for a patent. Expect this beer to be ruby red, with a medium body that is highly carbonated and intense with cherry flavor and bouquet.

DiarmaidBHK (7926) - Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 19, 2024
UPDATED: MAR 19, 2024 Bottle from a random truck stop in Kenosha. Perhaps the best beer ever purchased at a truck stop. Also they had what seemed to be a massive selection of cheese curds. Pours dull rude with a white head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Big, bold cherry goodness on the nose and tongue. finished clean with a nice hint of tartness. dangerously good.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2023 Backlog 1/2/2021: Bottle care of Jimmy. Thanks man! Pours a clearish burgundy copper with orange highlights and a small off-white head that dissipates. Lovely aromas of honey and fresh squeezed cherries. More of the same on the palate. Lots of sweet cherry with light bread and honey notes. Cherry that lingers for days.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2023 Big sweet cherry aroma and flavor. Nice red color. Sweet full bodied cherry base beer. Some lactic sour to balance the sweetness but still finishes quite sweet. So much flavor and very authentic cherry flavor. Such a delicious beer. Really really good.

UPDATED: OCT 21, 2021 (Thanks, Jim! 'ozzy70') Bottle. A- Cherry juice, honeycrisp apples. A- Ruby red color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Cherry juice, mild tartness, mild sweetness. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly tart finish. O- Been wanting this one for a long while. Straight up natural cherry juice. Not a lot to say, other than wow it's great. Love New Glarus and probably only second to their Strawberry Rhubarb for me.

UPDATED: AUG 25, 2021 It’s pure cherry juice, what’s not to like. Reddish dark amber. Smells of sweet cherries. Tart and refreshing, hint of cinnamon and pie crust at the end.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2021 Bottle shared at John and Brad's - nose is cherry. Sweeter than I world have guessed. Couli-esque. Cloying. Usually shy away from cherry flavors but this is a new glarus...

drewsbrewsmke (64) - - JAN 8, 2021
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2021 Pours a beautiful and dark ruby red. Taste is chock full of sweet cherries with a lingering tartness. The Cherry taste is bright and fully authentic. Background flavors are sweet vanilla and subtle oak. Beer has a great balance of sweet and tart and avoids being too sour or funky. Mouthfeel is quite sticky and savory. A true treat and fantastic beer from New Glarus. This is the gold standard for how Cherry should be in a beer!

Aurelius (7046) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - MAY 25, 2020
UPDATED: MAY 25, 2020 Standard longneck, OK label. Ruddy, clear brown pour with a rosy, thick khaki head. Aroma is cherry candy. Lightly spiced, faint cinnamon, sweet, fruity quaff. Moderately tart. Meaty body, syrupy. Enjoyable, dessert beer. Thanks to Barb for schlepping back from WI and sharing at the socially distant Zombie Apocalypse gathering.
