New beers this year: how many so far?

I have just added a mini backlog of beer ratings and I thought I would check to see if my 'plan' of drinking less often and calming down for 2017 was working (last two years I've rated around 1,100 beers per year).

No, I have had 1,002 new rates so far this year.

To some that's a huge amount, to others (at the top of the leader boards) that's not even close to being a 'top dog'. Well, it's more than I intended drinking, but I have been to a few beer events and traveled a fair bit in 2017.

I'm at around 2000 I believe.

2600... already much more than my whole 2016.

I never thought I'd become a shameless ticker.

This puts me just shy of my most ever in a year (which I will easily pass over the next 2 months). I also had a phone issue cause me to lose somewhere between 50 and 100 rates, so I would be closer to 1,200 if that happened.

Haven't a clue in terms of actual new beers in '17 ... would guess at around 2,000 ?

I average around 1,000 a year...but could be more this year since I'm out of control.

Each to their own mate, you don't have to be as prolific as me (and everyone else who has replied so far). Just enjoy what you are doing and rate when you want too.

2623, already much more than for 2016. Going to come in comfortably over 3000 for the year, nearly double my all-time high. Part of this is just returning to having a day job, which means that I have more time to indulge this hobby than when I was travelling non-stop. But there's more to it than that.

I'm going to crack 1000 British Columbian beers for the year. It took me only 20 years to get my first 1000. So there's no question that ticking has become much, much easier than it used to be. But even then, I'm at a point in the 2nd half of this year where I'm getting a crazy number of ticks without even trolling the shitty breweries.

I'm thinking even 18 months ago I needed to troll every shit brewery in town to tick at half the pace I am today. The amount of good beer at my fingertips is just so much greater now than ever before. In short, trying more beers, and a higher quality level of beers both. Strange times to be a filthy ticker.

At 409 thus far this year, how I end up will depend if I go to a festival or not, either way i won't crack last years all time high of 682 which I felt was too high for me, i like being around 500
