In other words the people at the bottom of the list are trying EVERYTHING and going to lots of breweries to do that, while the people at the top are buying one beer at a time from the gas station for the sake of ticking a new brewery. /uneducated stats opinion

I’d be near top of list if I qualified I’m at .2633 with over a thousand breweries but I don’t shop at gas stations on the regular. If I visit a brewery sometimes I’m not in mood for flight so I’ll have 1 or 2 beers only, same at bars, or like other day did mix 6 at local store and got 5 new breweries. I also don’t feel need to grab every tick available everywhere I go.

Alternative interpretation: People at the top are content with ticking all flavours of Mikkeller and other omnipresent super producers, whereas those at the bottom choses travelling for new breweries over easy ticking?

Or simply: People at the top are from Germany, England, and Czechia, where brewers don't brew dozens of different beers, but there's many breweries.

I think you have it reversed.

In some cases, it's home location and travel.

Location: in North America the average brewery offers 8 beers at a given time, and most microbreweries have frequent one-offs (a few breweries in Vancouver have a new release almost weekly); in Europe in average breweries and brewpubs have less beers at a given time and rotate less frequently, Germany being a notable case (3 beers on tap, 4 seasonals repeated year after year).
One Mikkeller brewery, even if they had a daily release. can't do as much as 50 breweries can do in Portland.

Travel: lack of travel means that you repeatedly hit the local breweries, more ticks from the same breweries.
I see at the bottom of the list a few local friends that repeatedly visit Seattle and Portland, hence a large number of their ratings come from OR, WA and BC (besides the occasional vacation abroad).

But the result in the end is also skewed by how many years a rater has been collecting ratings.

Crazy. At one point I think I had about 8 beer rates per brewer on average, but now it's over 10 to 1 (12709/1259), so while I can crack the top 70 on one list, I'm not even sniffing the top 100 on the other.
