Well with Syracuse basketball season over I have transitioned to lacrosse (#1 in NCAA) and spring football. Our spring game is 4 Apr and looks like we have about 20 recruits coming to the game. Even though last years season was a set back on the field it looks that our staff has been building steam on the recruiting trail. I see a few teams have already filled a bunch of verbals, how’s everyone teams looking?

This kind of stuff never happens in the BIG10. Only the $EC oversigns! Urban Meyer, who oversigned his 2015 recruiting class (has to trim 2 or 3 recruits to get to 85 limit), OSU MD’s now say they will not clear early enrollee Jamel Dean from Cocoa, who started class at Ohio State in Jan. Dean tore his ACL in 2013 and now Ohio State MD’s say he is not fit to play and kicked him out of the football program (OSU offered a medical scholarship for him to stay at OSU but not play football but believe Dean has rejected that idea). Did Meyer kick Dean out because he was recovering too slowly so that he could get closer to the 85 max scholarship limit? Here’s the article on this story...Dena’s HS Coach is not happy at all. HS coach of ex-Buckeyes signee Jamel Dean calls treatment ’ridiculous’ According to multiple reports, the Ohio State career of early-enrollee freshman Jamel Dean has not lasted long -- and his high school coach isn’t happy about it. Eleven Warriors reported Wednesday that Dean has not received clearance from the Buckeyes’ medical staff following a torn ACL dating to November 2013 and other knee ailments, forcing him to leave the program. That report was corroborated by multiple other outlets, including 247Sports affiliate Bucknuts. Dean’s coach at Cocoa (Fla.) High School, however, told the Cleveland Plain-Dealer on Wednesday that the former four-star cornerback is physically capable of playing football again -- and that the Buckeyes’ discarding of Dean after only a few weeks on campus is "ridiculous." Kid is still guaranteed a 4 year schollie in the B1G.. pretty sure this medical clearance sounds like a stipulation put on the kid because he had an injury before he signed. All that said, that schollie would still count against there limit in almost every situation unless the kid leaves the school Also don’t look now but Iowa baseball is on the prowl..

And again, it’s fun to follow and root for a team doing well (and Iowa winning anything of value or moving on would be neat, but the odds aren’t great)... but the only purpose of that post was to make fun of JJ’s adamant feelings on the strength of UCF baseball and softball earlier this year.

There are a lot of Big 12 baseball games carried on cable down here. If WVU is playing, I watch.

It’s fun. A solid watch. And again, I’m under no delusions that Iowa is a super power. They’ve only been to the CWS once before and have a dismal recent history. But, I’m just bringing to light JJ’s post. It does seem the hiring of Iowa native Rick Heller (Upper Iowa, Indiana State) is paying dividends tho.. and an investment with all that B1G money.. furthermore neither other major state university fields a baseball team (Iowa State, Northern Iowa) Should be fun seeing if they can make it twice. Also.. you work for a brewery now?
